It will be remembered as the day the greens bombed Copenhagen with limousines.

From the Telegraph, the tale of elitist excess begins:
On a normal day, Majken Friss Jorgensen, managing director of Copenhagen’s biggest limousine company, says her firm has twelve vehicles on the road. During the “summit to save the world”, which opens here tomorrow, she will have 200. “We thought they were not going to have many cars, due to it being a climate convention,” she says. “But it seems that somebody last week looked at the weather report.”
Ms Jorgensen reckons that between her and her rivals the total number of limos in Copenhagen next week has already broken the 1,200 barrier. The French alone rang up on Thursday and ordered another 42. “We haven’t got enough limos in the country to fulfil the demand,” she says. “We’re having to drive them in hundreds of miles from Germany and Sweden.”
And the total number of electric cars or hybrids among that number? “Five,” says Ms Jorgensen. “The government has some alternative fuel cars but the rest will be petrol or diesel. We don’t have any hybrids in Denmark, unfortunately, due to the extreme taxes on those cars. It makes no sense at all, but it’s very Danish.”
But wait, there’s more!
The airport says it is expecting up to 140 extra private jets during the peak period alone, so far over its capacity that the planes will have to fly off to regional airports – or to Sweden – to park, returning to Copenhagen to pick up their VIP passengers.
As well 15,000 delegates and officials, 5,000 journalists and 98 world leaders, the Danish capital will be blessed by the presence of Leonardo DiCaprio, Daryl Hannah, Helena Christensen, Archbishop Desmond Tutu and Prince Charles. A Republican US senator, Jim Inhofe, is jetting in at the head of an anti-climate-change “Truth Squad.” The top hotels – all fully booked at £650 a night – are readying their Climate Convention menus of (no doubt sustainable) scallops, foie gras and sculpted caviar wedges.

I see that I will have to increase my estimate of how much this convention will cost the world’s taxpayers. It includes travel costs, accommodation and food (and all the other expenses), salaries, pension costs, admin etc etc. My original estimate of about 20,000 people x 10 days x $5000/day = $1billion must be way too low.
Something is rotten in the state of Denmark
The French have ordered an extra 40?!
Why not just get in their own in Paris and drive to Copenhagen?
They could throw carbon credits out of the windows to the peasants en route.
What about John Tavolta and his personal Boeing jet, did he already arrive?
There were also funny stories in the recent years about german ministers. They took the train for some trips to prove how “climate-sensitive” they are, but they sent their drivers with the limo to the destination, so they didn’t need to walk from the train station to their final destination.
With the Eco-socialism it’s the same thing like with all socialisms:
Some are more equal!
Two articles on Bloomberg today showing the hypocrisy of the climate elites.

No surprises there, the usual left wing socialist crap, do as i say not as i do.
All they care about is their status and power, the proles can go hang.
Climate change alarmism is making me hungry.
Just unbelievable. The madness of the crowds is fascinating.
Makes me puke.
The COPs whacky race has begun

The need for outrageous
Has become quite contagious
There’s nowt really new under t’sun
Good to see the Telegraph running with this. I nearly choked on my breakfast earlier today: BBC Radio Scotland’s ‘Good Morning Scotland’ news programme had a sceptic in their studio, for a discussion with Dr Richard Nixon (WWF Scotland). Sillars is not a scientist, but a formidable former politician, and he came across well. The debate was good natured, and unlike Watson verses Morano on Newsnight, Nixon remained calm. But what really struck me was that the interviewer didn’t any any point interupt Sillars. the programme can be listened to on the BBC i-player at http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0074hf7 for the next 7 days (UK only I think) – interview starts just after 2 hours 15 mins.
Have you seen today’s cartoon in the UK ‘The Times’? Some nut shouting and no-one paying attention. ‘The Neo-Cons were behind 9-11’ – ‘Diana Was Killed By Prince Philip’ – ‘The Moon Landing Never Happened’ (Getting evermore irate) – -‘Elvis Lives!’ – (Bellowing at full volume) – ‘MAN MADE CLIMATE CHANGE IS A HOAX!’ – Now surrounded by press saying ‘Seriously? wow…’
It’s good that those eco-socialists are showing off their profligacy. They themselves planted the seed of self-destruction and blame game in coming up with deep emission targets. The Chinese, Indians, Brazilians, Mexicans, etc. will see the futility of joining them for emission cut hypocrisy.
Is it not time for a SI unit of hypocrisy. To be called a “Gore” perhaps. A “Gore” being defined as the amount of hypocracy required to rock up to a climate conference in a Gulfstream and imagine you are saving the planet. The unit could also be coupled with others eg; Gores/sq.km – NewtonGores to express the extent and force of the hypocrisy. For the first time scientists will be able to gather accurate data on the phenomenon and after the necessary adjustments, produce models which predict the future extent of runaway global hypocrisy.
A unit of ineptness could follow. I would humbly suggest that Gordon Brown be honoured for this one.
Here is a news story lying on the floor and just begging to be picked up my the worlds media. In any other context we would not have to be blogging about this on the internet.
Had this been a convention of international bankers, arriving in fleets of private jets, driving in fleets of stretched hummer limo’s, and dinning on dolphin tongues at the most prestigious hotels on taxpayers money, then you betcha, this would have been covered.
68 years to the day
70 year cycle, hmm… magnetosphere, hmm…
Come on, this doesn’t surprise you, surely? We have the displeasure of having Prince Charles live here, so we have come to understand hypocrisy. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1145127/The-Prince-hypocrites-Charles-embarks-16-000-mile-green-crusade–aboard-private-jet.html
Now, there’s an ars*hole!
On a similar point. I few years ago, I used to play rugby on a pitch by the side of the BBC Pebble Mill studios in Birmingham. I remember that the car park was full of SUVs. Surprising, considering the sanctimonious nonsense that they’re always spouting about the environment.
I can live with SUVs but I hate hypocracy!!
The difference between a hoax and a scam is that a scam is perpetrated to solicit money.
“We haven’t got enough limos in the country to fulfil the demand,” she says. “We’re having to drive them in hundreds of miles from Germany and Sweden.”
The actions of those who have deathly fears of pollution changing the climate and destroying the future of the earth for our grandchildren.
Jon Stewart would have fun with this.
Too bad Sarah Palin isn’t president so she could give Copenhagen a proper cold shoulder by not showing up!
She is hot and is causing climate change all by herself:

I wish we could switch off the world for the next couple of weeks. Added to all the hypocrisy covered so pointedly in the thread, the thought that we have to listen to waves of politicians and politico-scientists competing to become the greenest is profoundly depressing.
All this macho posturing is simply an attempt to get the best headlines for individual leaders. The reality of climate change summits is that whatever the agreement, there is no mechanism in place to police the outcome. Expediency will always outweigh vote-losing legislation, so perhaps there is hope that a fews years down the line, when it becomes clear that the reality of climate change is cyclic rather than hyperbolic, that they will not have committed us, the poor paying public, to too much of a decline in our standards of living.
And also, perhaps after the beauty contest is over, the politicians will review the fundamental science, reflect on the true complexity of the climate system, conclude that the simplistic climate models currently used are simply not up to the job of forecasting, and therefore should not be used as the basis for planning anything.
The Hypocrisy of the Hype-ocracy is nearly as bad as the spelling round here!
[Reply: nothing could be that bad. ~dbs, mod.]
U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) hacked this turkey five years ago.

Isn’t he one of the X-Men? 😉
The front page of today’s “The Independent” (UK) has the headline “CLIMATE CHANGE : THE FACTS” And refers to the included free 20 page booklet produced by the UK Met Office. I nearly suffered heart failure, such is my anger, after looking through it. They are still showing the hockey stick graph so comprehensively de-bunked by one of your contributors only yesterday. And, lo and behold, they also include a chart starting at 1850, so conveniently leaving out the MWP!!
The articles & editorial are equally vomit inducing, and the letters page shows the same slavish devotion to the cause typical of religious movements.
I can’t find this new booklet on the Met Office site, or I would post a link.
