Gore cancels on Copenhagen lecture – leaves ticketholders in a lurch

It seems the uncertainty about Copenhagen is growing. When Al baby pulls the plug, you know it’s hosed.

From Berlingske: Al Gore cancels lecture during COP15

Al Gore cancels lecture during COP15

Looks like they will get a refund though. Might be worth more as a collectors item in ten years though.

I wonder how many people have shelled out $1200 to shake Al’s hand? Maybe not enough and he couldn’t cover the expenses for his private jet?

From the Washington Post:

“Have you ever shaken hands with an American vice president? If not, now is your chance. Meet Al Gore in Copenhagen during the UN Climate Change Conference,” notes the Danish tourism commission, which is helping Mr. Gore promote “Our Choice,” his newest book about global warming in all its alarming modalities.

“Tickets are available in different price ranges for the event. If you want it all, you can purchase a VIP ticket, where you get a chance to shake hands with Al Gore, get a copy of Our Choice and have your picture taken with him. The VIP event costs DKK 5,999 and includes drinks and a light snack.”

Wait, what? How much is that in American dollars? The currency conversion says it all, too: 5,999 Danish kroners is equivalent to $1,209.

“If you do not want to spend that much money, but still want to hear Al Gore speak about his latest book about climate challenges, you can purchase general tickets, ranging in price from DKK 199-1,499 depending on where in the room you want to sit,” the practical Danes advise. “There will be large screens, so that everyone will get a good view.”

Yah, such a deal.

Why would anyone trust or take Al Gore seriously? He’s a U.S. politician. Even I can figure that out on my own. And then just listen to him a few minutes, and it becomes more obvious.

Please forgive this amateurish attempt:
There once was a prophet named Gore
Who converted millions to his Mores
But when the truth revealed his fraud
He aborted his trip abroad
And missed out on free whores

Forty-eight hours before Gore whimped out this was published in Chapter 1 of http://www.captainsherlock.com/Olympic-Debt-2/Chapter-1.html
“Soros-Obama-Strong have been retained by OCTOpus to destroy America financially, morally and legislatively. SES was created in 1979 to enable the destruction of America from the ‘inside-out’ by placing corrupt political ‘boobs’ above legitimate authority in agencies across the breadth of our bureaucracies. On a date of my choosing before Pearl Harbor Day 2009 we will crush them as ordained by God Himself. We will go after their weakest link, and their weakest mind first: Al Gore. He will run like a little girl voiding his bladder all the way.
Chapter 2 will be online tomorrow and will explain with great clarity why Obama adjusted his travel plans just 4 hours ago based on this Chapter and the letters included within the Chapter. Those letters communicate clearly to US and Canadians authorities the risk of ‘remotely guided airliners’….you can read the background info by this google search [ boeing uninterruptible autopilot + QRS11 + SMACsonic + McConnell ] You can expect more than just Gore to be ‘felled’. So Boxer is doubling down.
How dumb. How predictable.

I voted for Gore in 2000. I went to Florida for the recount. I’ve read everything I could find on these emails and I am sick, sick, sick. I’ll tell you what I want.
I want the SEC to subpoena Al Gore. I think this is a conspiracy that will make Enron and Madoff look like petty thieves.
I want him to give back his OSCAR.
I want him to give back his Nobel Prize.
I want shareholders to rise up and demand that the boards of Directors of these companies that have gone whole-hog into this AGW nonsense come forward and explain what they based their decisions on.
I want CBS, NBC, ABC, The NYTimes, The LATimes, The Washington Post, The Chicago Tribune, NPR and PBS to report this travesty openly and without bias.
I’m a Democrat, I’ve been lied to and I am mad as hell.

I was watching a YouTube vid where the leader of American Progress used the ‘evidence’ of increased acreage burn by wildfire as a proof of global warming. How about increased acreage burn wildfire caused by arsen? Angeles national forrest this last early fall was a result of arsen and fire cos delayed response. Fires in the Mtns of San Diego in 04 were a result of arsen and accident where the fires started were both remote. Additionally, a number or recent southern CA fires were arsen related. I would imagine that since those trees no longer exist and no longer absorb CO2, then there would be an increase, not the other way around.

Discussions on any of the BBC talk stations in the UK are always conducted like that. Shouting and talking over the interviewee are the norm, even on Radio 4, supposedly the flagship, intellectual , heavyweight politics and arts channel. The interviewee barely gets to the first verb in the first sentence of a reply to a question from the interviewer before the interviewer interrupts to criticise and ask another question.
The BBC interviewers always take the view that they can do the job the interviewee is doing far better than the interviewee can and that this is their chance to prove it. The objective is never to ask questions for the interviewee to answer so that the audience can hear and perhaps understand the interviewee’s position or point of view.
Our Canadian friend is right, the standard of science and the debate about it is appalling in the UK.

“Gore… . But didn’t he invent the internet?”

I disagree with Gore as much as anyone but accuracy is important. No, not only did he not invent the internet he has never claimed that he did.
This is a VERY tired old straw-man. It renders the views, for my purposes, of anyone who says such, as worthless. People, such as Dr Svelgaard, who have worthwhile things to say say them and don’t indulge in worthless ad hominem.

His Occidental stocks and the Zinc mine on his propery have been taking a hit during the recession. Flying to Copenhagen isn’t cheep you know. Give the poor guy a break. His electric bills are through the roof and just think how much oil it takes to keep his hair slicked back like that. Al Gore is real victim here.
A pound of flesh for your master, there is no way you can even question him.
