…That summer’s blazes had left two people dead in the northern region of Castilla y León and another man there fatally burned after the excavator he was using to try to dig a firebreak to protect his town was swallowed up by the flames. A street-sweeper in Madrid had collapsed and died from heatstroke while on shift in soaring temperatures that summer. The paramedics who tried to save him noted that his body temperature was 41.6C (107F).
“I want to make something very clear,” the prime minister told reporters in Extremadura that day in 2022. “Climate change kills: it kills people, as we’ve seen; it also kills our ecosystem, our biodiversity, and it also destroys the things we as a society hold dear – our houses, our businesses, our livestock.”
…
On Monday, Spain’s conservative People’s party (PP) accused the government of using the “mantra” of climate crisis to mask its “poor management” of natural disasters.
…
On Wednesday, a Vox MEP, Jorge Buxadé, attempted to push the party’s denial agenda by posting what purported to be an official air ministry document showing that temperatures of more than 44C had been recorded at observation stations around Spain as far back as the 1950s.
Spain’s state meteorological office, Aemet, responded on social media by pointing out that the document was a fake.
“We’ve reviewed the data, and all but one station’s data are false,” said Aemet. “If they were true, they wouldn’t deny climate change: there were heatwaves before, but now they’re more frequent and intense.”

The Guardian’s own article demonstrates opposition accusations of gross negligence by the current Spanish government may hold merit.
“… another man there fatally burned after the excavator he was using to try to dig a firebreak to protect his town was swallowed up by the flames …” – why wasn’t the firebreak already excavated?
The obvious explanation is official negligence – a failure to prepare. This may not be the right explanation, maybe a second emergency firebreak was being dug because the fire jumped the first break. But even if this is the case, it does make you wonder why fire defences were so inadequate.
The repeated mantra of “rural abandonment” being the reason for fuel buildup shouldn’t have prevented forestry work in those regions, if that work could help prevent fires becoming so severe – even easier to maintain forests if there is nobody around to complain.
I’m so fed up with negligent left wing governments blaming climate change for their own failures. I see it all the time in my native Australia, so the apparent effort by Prime Minister Sanchez to deflect blame for his green incompetence by blaming climate change seems all too familiar.
Sanchez is very similar to our own Tiny Andy Burnham. While the invasion – and that is exactly what it is, a very long term beachhead – was gathering pace our new PM found the time to make a Tik-Tok video on bread rolls and what to call them.
Sanchez for his part…

The creed of Pan-Europeanism (Praktische Idealismus, 1925, R von Coudenhove-Kalergi)
“The man of the future will be of mixed race. Today’s races and classes will gradually disappear owing to the vanishing of space, time, and prejudice. The Eurasian-Negroid race of the future will replace the diversity of peoples with a diversity of individuals.”
Perversely, should we thank the failed Austrian painter and lance corporal for setting the plans back by a century or so?
It’s a very weird world we live in.
It’s good to have lots of admirals.
Shame they don’t float, they might be useful, then.
Yeah, a navy with few operable ships is probably of little value no matter how many admirals there are to strut about.
So not a witch then…
Three people died in wildfires in all of Spain! Meanwhile, 5 Spaniards were killed each day in auto accidents. Therefore, should Spain outlaw automobiles?
As for the heat stroke victim, the definition of heat stroke includes a body temperature of greater than 40.5° C. The average body temperature among people dying of heat stroke is 42° C (107.6° F). So quoting the paramedics adds precisely zero to the discussion.
Nice photo. Dumb and Dumber. Take your pick.
A lot of what greens do with wildlands management is counterproductive.
And on occasion, quite flammable.
“Climate change kills.”
Maybe it does, maybe it doesn’t. The point is, what might be causing it?
I can find no proof that CO2 has much if anything to do with it.
So the weather trends over 30 years kill?
Hmmm…
Now if he had said climate change policy kills, he would have been spot on.
DING! DING! DING! We have a winner!
I remember Spain went dark when the unreliable green power stuff failed.
I don’t remember how long the power outage lasted but I think a number of people died.
Anybody remember how many?
Then there’s that inconvenient FACT that wildfires are NOT becoming EITHER more numerous OR “bigger/worse.” The latest IPCC propaganda report can’t even hide it.
Oh and how many of these European fires were started by arson? Inquiring minds want to know…
On July 14th French media said 59 people had been arrested over “suspected deliberate or accidental starting of fires”
By July 29th the Interior Ministry said that figure had risen to 184 and “most of the country’s wildfires were linked to arson, criminal conduct or negligence”
I guess Man does cause forest fires.
Some just skip the Man-caused “Global Warming” part.
The Climate Liar’s lies kill.
Blackouts caused by renewables also kill.

“There is a lot of sadness in the world.”
That pearl of wisdom comes from my father who repeated it often.
What does it mean? It means there will always be things you do not like (or are wrong) that you are powerless to change.
Like “climate change.” Climate changes second by second and is the result of multiple natural cycles, aka variability.
Humans can neither control the climate (definitely not to an equilibrium level), nor cause it to go into a runaway phase. It is the extremist of hubris to think that man can control the weather. The universe has its own rules about that.
Point of fact, all those alarmists have failed to define the optimum global climate. It is impossible as there is no global climate.
The Serenity Prayer incorporates that bit of dad wisdom, but adds “wisdom to know the difference.” Accept what you can’t change.
It simplifies to this. The Trans-Reality Alarmists are not concerned at all about the climate or weather or human welfare. They are only concerned about money, power, prestige, and control.
For that we need the courage to change what we can. Unfortunately, most politicians are cowards.
” Climate changes second by second …”
Weather changes. My climate hasn’t changed in 500 years or so. The large trees just to my west and the grass and shrubs to the east tell me so. A friend does lake-bottom cores, and she and students can show via pollens what the environment was like over time.
See Köppen: BSk, cool to cold winter, hot summers, semi-arid
Climate as it is presently defined is the 30 year average of weather. If the weather this second is not identical to the weather exactly 30 years ago, the climate has changed, just from the definition.
30 years used to be the definition of micro climate, which applied to a locale or region, such as what you are describing.
What I should have added is that those second by second climate changes are so tiny as to be irrelevant and basically below the noise floor. Meaningless, in other words.
It is even worse than this — “climate” has been boiled down to averages of averaged air temperature “anomalies”, everything else is ignored.
Don Quixote defending the windmills. Well, it makes a change.
A new Spanish Inquisition?
I didn’t expect that.
Well, they have to stop the new Satan! I’m thinking of how I can illustrate this with AI. 🙂
You should at least have a “priest” in green vestments holding up a pinwheel (instead a cross) exorcising the CO2 out of his/her/its victim’s body. 😎
The man with the excavator that was burned, and died, was near Tábara, a small town on the lee side of the Sierra de la Culebra, mountains between Spain and Portugal. Down-slope winds will be common. Average annual precipitation is less than 16 inches; thus, grass and shrubs. The environment is known to have severe fires. Burning embers will travel hundreds of yards, easily jumping over any firebreak cleared by an excavator. 97% sure this is not a new situation.
It is unfortunate, but he made a bad decision.
So occasionally, the climate of Morocco moves up a little to Spain. Sometimes Morocco itself moves to Spain, which is probably a bigger problem to worry about…
Pictures of Sleepy Joe should have an oval on his face with an auto-pen thereon. Just saying …
I didn’t know Obama had a cousin as crazy as he was. Both of them attack deniers.
This is the lifeline for every thugocracy on the planet. It’s more of an incentive for the expansionist variety. At least the thug members can buy up nice resort property with banking assistance from the distracted country bankers. There must be a manual on doing this somewhere in the Rothschild family library.
It’s also ironic that some of North America’ states and provinces that have been claiming to be the greenest jurisdictions on the continent have been getting hit hardest by wildfires supposedly triggered by climate change. Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Minnesota and British Columbia all have taken aggressive steps to reduce carbon emissions ostensibly causing excessive heating. Washington and BC are among the greatest hydro electric producers and along with Oregon also claim to have the greatest number of EVs on the road in either the US and Canada. Yet they’re being affected quite severely by these fires. So maybe carbon emissions are responsible for much less climate change than the alarmists would have us believe and/or maybe no matter how green a place tries to be, it can’t stop these emissions from drifting in from thousands of miles away and affecting the weather/climate.
Sánchez seems in good company, with the British and the Germans diving head-first into Net-Zero. Can we save them, or will the Chinese?
No, leftist political ideology kills, climate change just is.
This is what CO2 and climate change actually do:
The climate which Pedro Sánchez and his fellow climate activists are trying to return us to, with CO2 at preindustrial levels, was not better.
If I could speak to Prime Minister Sánchez, I would tell him that to understand a contentious, heavily politicized issue like climate change requires balanced information… and I’m here to help:
