There is no “extra” GHE back radiation because there is no upwelling BB. So called measurements are figments of precisely calibrated imagination.
By definition a BB must emit all it absorbs.
Absorbed = 160
Emitted = 17 + 80 + 63 (not BB)
Physical emissivity 1 = 63/160 = 0.39 (for heat balances)
Theoretical emissivity 2 at 16 C = 63/396 = 0.16 (For correcting IR instruments)
Because of the significant (60% per TFK_bams09) non-radiative, i.e. kinetic, heat transfer processes of the contiguous participating atmospheric molecules the surface cannot upwell “extra” energy as a near Black Body.
As demonstrated by experiment, the gold standard of classical science.

The linked paper is the result of tedious analysis of AIRS line-by-line long wave data from 2002 to 2010:

After discarding all daytime readings because there is too much signal pollution from reflected radiation and then 89% of the daytime data due to cloud interference, the author arrives at this chart:

So with 94.6% of the data disappeared, the band absorption for CO2 is detectible. It then uses the radiance data to calculate the absorption of CO2 as 0.36W/m^2 due to the 37ppm increase over the period. This estimate relies on the BIG assumption that what is detectible 5.5% of the time is the same for 100% of the time. It is utter folly.
There are two emerging facts that are bringing the Climate Change™ hoax to its obvious end game:
- The popular AI language models now “know” that ocean surface temperature cannot sustain more than 30C, which invalidates climate models because all show tropical oceans warming and sustaining above 30C.
- The uptake of ocean heat content in the SH has been slowing down over the past decade and could well be losing heat from the oceans of the SH by 2030.

Ice actually controls Earth’s radiation balance. The H2O molecule is by far the dominant emitter of radiation to space and reflector of incoming short wave. The daily average black body radiating temperature from atmosphere over any ocean never exceeds 273K. So H2O molecule with sufficient optical depth to emit hundreds of W/m^2 to space with an average temperature below 273K is mostly ice. And the AIRS data is proof of that because enough was present 94.5% of the time to prevent clean detection of the CO2 absorption band.

Of course they’ve declined because humans take preventive measures when climate/environmental threats increase. The alarmists want us to believe that we should just sit on our hands helplessly when we should be renouncing fossil fuels, swearing off red meat, ending air travel, adopting wind and solar energy and doing whatever it takes to head off what’s largely a non-problem to begin with. Instead, we build new dams, dikes and floodways to forestall rising waters. We develop more weather-resistant crops to deal with droughts. We build more durable structures to withstand violent storms. We restrict settlements in zones where rising waters are common, etc. Only the doomsday cultists want us to just wring our hands and wait for some apocalypse to wipe us out so that they can claim, “Didn’t we warn you?”
