Before the UN talks in Brazil, hardline conservative states have pushed to define gender as “biological sex” over their concerns trans and non-binary people could be included in a major plan to ensure climate action addresses gender inequality and empowers women.
Gender rights advocates said the move would backslide on decade-old language within the UN system.
“These are unprecedented times to negotiate on gender equality and women’s empowerment,” said Lorena Aguilar, the executive director of the US-based Kaschak Institute for Social Justice for Women and Girls, and Costa Rica’s former vice minister for foreign affairs.“There are some countries that want to push us back to 30 years ago. But we will not accept anything less than what we already have.”

There is no such thing as gender in humans. It is a grammatical category, as in German has three genders. It is simply a wrong use of language to refer to people as being of a certain gender.
The term has become increasingly become used to mean sex, so now you hear people talking about someone being of the female gender, when they mean sex (if they mean anything).
This only leads to confusion. As in ‘gender affirming surgery’, which means nothing.
If you doubt this, just try asking how many genders there are, in the non-grammatical sense. You will get answers varying between two and several hundred. The concept is obviously incoherent if there is such confusion and disagreement about how many genders there are. It makes it impossible to say with any consensus which gender a person is. If we do not know when to apply the term, or who to apply it to correctly, the term is (except when its used to mean ‘sex’) meaningless.
There are two sexes, male and female. As with most binary categories there are examples of individuals which do not fit into either. But this does not mean there are more than two sexes. It means there are individuals who are not clearly one or the other. But that does not mean they are of another and different sex. We may and do legally classify some of these people as one of the two sexes for many purposes. DSD people fall into this category. But notice that its for some, but not all, purposes, as in sports.
As to who a woman is, its an adult human of the female sex. It has nothing to do with any supposed gender they may claim, nor is it to do with what they feel, nor is it to do with any medical treatments they may have had.

Depends on how do you define this, doesn’t it?
One quantifiable answer could be established in a simple experiment. Ask a few thousands of random people (or at least twixxer profiles) some questions including:
1. In what gender they should be addressed. and
2. Do they suffer from climate whatevering?
Then we could compare the rates of answering “yes” to (2) among those answering to (1):
A. “male” or “female”,
B. “combat helicopter” or
C. any other answers.
My hypothesis is that there will be significant covariance, specifically in the group (C) the rate of positive answer to (2) will be much higher than in the group (A).

Adding complexity was the morality police in the 1930s onward that invoked censorship in movies to the point the word sex could not be spoken. The last time I saw someone saying sex was in the 1950s Journey to the Center of the Earth.
So, movies started using gender as a substitute for sex to avoid the unnecessary complications of censorship.
Gender is not sex. Sex is not gender.
Even today, the trans-(fill in the blank) are using gender as a categorization system.
In 450 BC, Protagoras formulated a philosophy that each of us has a personal reality. The personal reality was founded on beliefs and perceptions (senses and memory). As we know today, senses and memories can be falsified or altered, so it comes down to what you believe is your reality (even if it is not real).
