GREENS ESTABLISH INQUIRY INTO INFORMATION INTEGRITY ON CLIMATE CHANGE

Organisations that campaign using disinformation to undermine climate action will come under scrutiny in a new parliamentary inquiry established by the Greens.
The UN has recently identified coordinated disinformation campaigns are hindering global progress on climate change by eroding public trust in climate science and influencing political outcomes.
How prevalent the propagation of disinformation is in Australia, where it comes from, and who is behind it, will be some of the key areas of inquiry for the committee.

Quotes attributable to Committee Chair, Greens Senator Peter Whish-Wilson:
“Aggressive and coordinated disinformation campaigns are increasingly spreading false information designed to deliberately mislead and influence public opinion on climate change.
“As the dangers of climate change intensify, the need for reliable and accurate information on the climate crisis and the Australian parliament’s response to it has never been more crucial.
“For decades, vested interests have been waging a global war of disinformation against the clean energy transition, including environmental and climate legislation, and these vested interests have recently achieved significant political success in nations such as the US.
“In the last parliament, evidence was provided to the Senate Inquiry into offshore wind industry that strategies such as establishing fake community groups – otherwise known as astroturfing – were being used in Australia to spread lies about renewable energy.**
“It’s critical that parliament continues this work and now examines these interests for what they are and who they serve.”
**This inquiry will act on Recommendation 4 from the Senate Inquiry into offshore wind industry: The committee recommends the Australian Government and DCCEEW proactively ensure that foreign actors, spam engagement, and misinformation and disinformation do not overpower local community voices from being heard in local public debate.

So awesome, do I finally get a summons from a government committee? Will the greens track down all that dark money I’m supposed to have received?
Of course, it would be a lot easier to convince Australians of the benefits of renewable energy if the renewable energy actually worked.

Translation: Anyone who airs a contrary opinion at a local public debate will be accused of being a patsy and silenced immediately.
When you hollow out government enough, when it becomes a tool only for the elites to enforce their whims and rob the rest of us through taxes, eventually the option of “no government” will be chosen and anarchy will ensue.
As I commented when comments were here before… The people they’re looking for are in the mirror.

In which Dr. Karl makes a series of claims that no self-respecting physicist has any business making, such as “trapped sunlight” (say what?), or “of the heat that’s trapped, 93 per cent goes into the ocean, and if that heat didn’t go into the ocean, we’d all be dead, because the air temperature would be about 70 degrees Celsius.” Sure Karl, keep on fantasizing…

I have news for these bottom feeders. Our side never has to lie or use disinformation. We leave that to them. If they feel so strongly about what they are preaching they would meet us in public debate but they won’t because they know we have proper facts and evidence and they don’t.
I am a bit confused. The title of this article is: Australia’s “National Treasure” Slams Fossil Fuel Climate Lies, which is supposedly about Dr. Karl Kruszelnicki. But the article then goes on discussing Greens’ inquiry about climate change misinformation and Dr. Kruszelnicki’s name does not appear even once. So was it about Dr. Kruszelnicki or the Greens?
This enquiry could start with Albosleezy and Blackout Bowen as they continually spout the nonsense that ‘renewables are the cheapest form of energy” but never explain that this is without costing in the infrastructure required to get it to anywhere useful.
Please accept an apology from the real Scientists of Australia, of whom there are many.
Dr Karl sprouts pop science, but you can deduce that yourselves.
The pity is that he is allowed to contribute junk to our educational systems.

It might happen that Australia gets serious about the takeover of education by alarmist groups, so it becomes a national debate, replete with mass protests as seem to be the current trendy way to express dissatisfaction (apart from juvenile violence).
