The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is reportedly probing a massive Biden-era Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) program for possible fraud, EPA officials confirmed to the Daily Caller News Foundation.
Specifically, FBI agents reportedly interviewed EPA employees this week as part of an escalating investigation of the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund (GGRF), a $20 billion program that awarded billions of dollars to green groups loaded with Democrat donors and insiders, The Washington Post first reported Friday citing anonymous sources familiar with the situation so that they could speak freely. EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin has repeatedly expressed concern about the GGRF abusing taxpayer dollars to benefit friends of the Biden EPA, though some career federal prosecutors have shied away from advancing the investigation when called upon to do so.

Zeldin has said that he will attempt to pull back as much of the GGRF cash as possible, and President Donald Trump campaigned aggressively against the Biden administration’s excessive green spending on his way back to the White House. The Trump EPA has cited a December 2024 video from Project Veritas, a conservative activist group, in which a Biden EPA employee tells an undercover Project Veritas employee that the agency’s rush to push funding out in the administration’s final days was “like we’re on the Titanic and we’re throwing, like, gold bars off the edge.”
The Biden EPA parked the $20 billion at Citibank before being replaced by Trump administration personnel, and GGRF recipients say they are unable to make withdrawals from the bank, according to the Post. Meanwhile, the EPA’s acting inspector general, Nicole Murley, testified Wednesday on Capitol Hill that her office is examining the GGRF and that there are concerns the Biden EPA’s late rush to get funding out the door may have impacted the screening process for potential recipients, for example.
The FBI contacted Brent Efron, the EPA official in the Project Veritas video, on Monday, and the EPA inspector general’s office has also made contact, according to the Post. Mark Zaid, Efron’s attorney, told the Post that Efron “doesn’t know what this is about, and that he was never involved in the obligation or disbursement of funds from any EPA assistance program” and that Efron “was not involved in any conversations about EPA and Citibank.”
The EPA and Department of Justice did not respond immediately to requests for comment.

Biden EPA parked $20 billion in a Citi account ‘beyond reach’ of 8 NGOs. One of which, for $2billion, had been established three months before, had $100 in revenues, and was deeply affiliated with Stacy Abrahams.
Our “public servants” become wealthy and our country’s debt balloons to incredible levels, if only ordinary taxpayers could be so lucky.
Democrat donors achieve a fantastic ROI from their contributions, almost as good as Hillary’s investments in cattle futures.
Stacy Abrams, who is a routine candidate for Governor of Georgia, but not anyone I had seen to be associated with climate change as such. Furthermore, the organization is new as of last year, and had a bank balance of $100 in the 2024 tax filing for non profits.

I saw Stacy Abrams get on a plane one time–my plane. She got an armed escort to pre-board. She must be really special. No idea where she sat–probably up front (757 boarding door is in the middle of the plane).

The whole thing is a transfer of wealth from taxpayers (in the west) into the hands of a few
The talk of money to the ‘developing world’ is similar to the WHO trying to sell killer unproven toxic HIV medication to Africa
Give them aid then get it back via the western pharmaceuticals, and some will get rich in the process – that is precisely the plan
In the case of the climate scam, it’s wind mills, solar, EVs, storage tech, power electronics and whole power infrastructures they want to sell (impose)

Excellent summary and spot on. Not many people think of the distinction between the real left and the people who identify as leftists, liberals and progressives (because that way they can dupe certain voting blocs).
People who take advantage of money under their purview exist in every political stripe, religion, charity, sports teams, corporations. Part of a proper justice system is having laws against such abuses so that offenders face punishment, and good oversight involves methodologies that it difficult for money to go anywhere but its intended use….
All those seeking funds are cynical opportunists, plain and simple. They have no intention of doing anything with the money most of the time (certainly not about a mythical CO2 problem)
There’s a lot less of that money now than there was in the 2000s. It’s been declining for about 15 years and is now difficult to get in many countries due to the various economic problems
This might explain the brazzeness of these particular scams
Biden and his chums were helping their friends to one last cash grab – they’ve know for a while that the game is up, it’s now or never
Just let Elon’s DOGE techies go at it for a bit (Big Balls, et al). By this time they have the expertise to do it and have to take it as a big game with exposing the whole scam as the prize. I’m also in favor to giving these guys and girls a tiny percentage of the savings which should add up to a whole lot of real dollars, though my experience over the years in IT says money isn’t the overriding driver.
One road to clean up our corrupt government is to withhold money. All grant making funds and authority should be withdrawn until this stinking mess can be straightened out. The sooner the money is spigot is turned off the sooner we can fund agencies that deserve to be funded.
Tip of the iceberg, but it’s a start. The Big Green industry is chock full of fraud and abuse. Same with Big Climate.
So it’s not right if someone donated to the party that they get a job from the party. Is it OK then if they say, stole money from the party ? Should the party give jobs to only members of the other party? What would be your test for dedication, before hiring someone for a job that many people are equally qualified?
