The plans come as low wind and solar power generation forced Britain to rely heavily on burning gas and wood pellets. As of Thursday, about 65% of Britain’s electricity was being generated from gas and biomass, with only 5.3% coming from wind.

This can only happen with big, bold change and that is why the government is embarking on the most ambitious reforms to our energy system in generations.

Britain sites between 51° to 60° North. In winter, when people really need home heating, Britain receives around 7 hours (or less) of sunlight. Much of the time in winter the sky is overcast, sometimes whole months can go by when you barely see the sun. The wind is also unreliable in winter – some of the coldest winter nights have no wind at all.
All of this should be obvious to anyone who has lived in Britain. If even places like sunny Australia can’t get solar and wind energy to work well enough to replace coal and gas, a nation as far North as Britain has no hope.
Miliband`s stupidity is obvious to all half sane people. The urgent question in my mind is “how do such idiots ascend to such power?”

One of the major issues I have with UK Net Zero Policy is this. If the successive Governments, (including our devolved Governments) were so determined to reduce reliance on fossil fuels, why don’t they work their butts off to provide affordable, clean, regular and efficient public transport – including to the most rural areas? Even just regular, efficient and affordable public transport would work in the meantime, if it meant getting people to think seriously about using cars less. If ???? (because it is a big “if” ) they really want to get people out of fossil fuel guzzling transport, then they need to make everything “green” much more affordable and accessible. I see little, if any evidence of this! In fact, in recent times the opposite is true. Public transport services have been decimated, they’re going up in price, and they’re unreliable at best! As the old saying goes, “action speaks louder than words” . C’mon Ed…put your money where your mouth is, and show us that country how to wean itself off cars…..if (here’s the big “if” again….) you do actually really believe that’s what needs to happen???? Otherwise, you just appear as a draconian freedom inhibitor, who is using climate change policy as a weapon to achieve an elitist agenda.
