Everyone knows the carnival barker, that deep throated voice at a funfair extolling the merits of an amusement. But then there is Al Gore, the aging guru whose prognostications of climate doom were not only exaggerated but laughably wrong. But on he goes, like a Cuckoo Clock.
On social media, Oliver Bolton, self-described CEO of Earthly, “an organization empowering hundreds of businesses around the world to reverse climate breakdown and restore our planet,” praised yet another emotional outburst of Al Gore toward climate (and political) reality.
Al Gore’s electrifying speech at COP29 is one of the standout moments for me. It was a powerful reminder of what’s at stake and a call for the ambition and accountability the world urgently needs. He reminds us that the stakes have never been higher and the time for decisive action is now.

Boiling oceans.
Al thinks the oceans are boiling because he thinks the temperatures at the center of the Earth are “millions of degrees”.
Self-righteous Al. He claimed during a debate that his opponents “played on our fears!!!”
I think Al and the other climate alarmists are playing on our fears now when it comes to human-caused climate change. All climate alarmists have to sell is fear and panic. They have no evidence that anything they claim about CO2 is true, beyond CO2 being a greenhouse gas.
The rest of their claims are just pure speculation. If asked to provide any actual evidence for what they claim, they just can’t do it.
That’s why they scream so loud about climate change hoping to distract people from the truth which is they don’t really know what they are talking about, they are just speculating based on speculation about how CO2 interacts with the Earth’s atmosphere.
The climate alarmist have created a whole false reality around CO2 and Al Gore leads the charge off the cliff.
Human-caused Climate Change is the biggest science hoax in history. It is successful because it pays good for all the active players, and gives petty dictators a lot of power they wouldn’t otherwise have.

If it’s not any warmer today with more CO2 in the air, than in the recent past when there was less CO2 in the air, the logical conclusion is that CO2 doesn’t have much to do with raising atmospheric temperatures.
Doomsday Al could improve credibility by using figures that convey accuracy, rather than grisly but vague fears. For example, the earth’s molten core is not “millions of degrees.” The exact figure is “a bazillion jillion.”
Likewise, the exact moment the oceans will come to a boil is 4:36 p.m. on August 23, 2046, Eastern Standard Time. The moment all life on earth dies out is precisely 22 seconds after the oceans come to a boil.
Ah, but “Wait!” I hear you cry. “That’s likely to flop as badly as his other predictions.”
“So what?” I reply. “It’s no worse than the predictions Gore’s issued thus far.”
Tom, I hope you’re not suggesting that Pastor Gore’s (shrinking) congregation has turned into a “basket of deplorables”?

That may be (I don’t think so), but this still means that whoever made these predictions back then did so
ignoring misstating the uncertainty of their prognosis, which was VERY misleading and unscientific of them!
Whatever they “knew” that knowledge had nothing whatsoever to do with science!
For example between CMIP5 and CMIP6 the “micro physics of clouds” was improved (https://gmd.copernicus.org/articles/13/3465/2020/),
how should anybody be taken seriously having used models with a wrong cloud parameters?
They might just as well have based their predictions on scribbles of 4 year olds!
However, that statement above is remarkable and we all should have a close look how they made these statements with a false certainty back then and what is there to be learned from that behavior for current climate related statements.
It all must start with them admitting unscientific and unethical behavior back then, trust must be earned!
One should also look at the predictions that were made that did not come true.
Even a broken clock is right twice a day
I don’t think any Climate Alarmist predictions have come true other than that the temperatures would rise, but the temperatures rising could be caused by Mother Nature not CO2, especially considering that temperatures were just as warm as today in the recent past, yet the recent past had much less CO2 in the air, so it appears that something other than CO2 is responsible for temperatures.
Temperatures also fell for decades from the 1940’s to the 1970’s (Ice Age Cometh), while CO2 amounts were steadily increasing. Another indication that CO2 has little effect on atmospheric temperatures. CO2 goes up but temperatures go down. Not a correlation.
But this does not matter at all, even if they were spot on!

Greenland has missed its opportunity to lose its ice during this interglacial. It did lose most of its ice sheet during the last interglacial but, with the Northern oceans warming up, and winter sunlight already at zero, the snowfall has to increase and will eventually overtake calving.

How does ice melt when it is below freezing? Are we only talking about ice that is in contact with the sea? And ice comes from glaciers flowing to the sea as a natural process from the snow falling on the interior.
Melt versus loss.
The claim is all glacial mass loss is due to melt, which is not true.
Loss is sublimation (also desiccation, lyophilization, or cryodesiccation).
Solid to gas is real. Minor effect of no consequence unless it goes on for decades with no intervening weather.
Direct evaporation due to incident solar energy.
“Freeze drying” or dry cold air blowing across the surface.
Then there is calving, which is what you describe. Calving is bulk loss.
But then the calves grow up and become adult ice.

It will not melt if below freezing. But all of Greenland gets enough sunlight at some time of the year to take the temperature above freezing. So the melt expands from the shoreline inland. If the water surface is cool when the sunlight goes to zero then there will not be much snowfall. Ice accumulation is a competition between snowfall and snow melt where the melt loses. Ice loss is the result of the melt winning.
It was actually 405kya that the Greenland lost almost all ice when the sea level was 10m above present level.

At that period, the orbital eccentricity was very low so it took two upswings in the precession cycle to get out of glaciation because the boreal summer sunlight was not as intense as occurs when eccentricity is greater and it was sufficient to melt all of Greenland.. The termination of the last glacial period only took one rising phase
Warming of the oceans in the northern hemisphere is accelerating snowfall. It is most notable in November and we often see new snowfall records. This will go on until the ice is accumalating across most of the land north of 40N, which will always get below freezing. Oncer ice is accumulating, it gets hard to shift particularly when the trend in snowfall is upward as we now observe.

As a P-3 pilot, I learned a very tiny bit about navigation. (The third pilot on a P-3 crew is supposed to relieve the navigator.) Navigators (on the Earth) use a geocentric model of the Universe. I said that on Compuseve many years ago, and someone who claimed to be a Navy navigator for twenty years said I was full of it. Yeah, if you aren’t using a geocentric model when navigating on the Earth–what system are you using?

I remember more than 20 years ago Big Al warning Londoners that their city would be under water by 2014.!!

If there are enough predictions so vague as to actual times and places that no sensible bookie would give you a price on them then there is bound to be room for the Gores of this world . Let’s face it when it comes to climate Al Gore declared his biased ignorance in predictions a long time ago and none of them have happened. In fact those who challenged Gore’s idiocy have been demonstrably right.

Ironically, “Doomsday!” is a perennial bestseller. Everyone knows we’re going to die eventually, but for some reason a lot of people get a thrill from imagining that we’re all going to die at the same time. Lack of evidence does nothing to stem the demand.
Albert Gore has tapped into that demand well enough to die rich. Never mind that the world will keep turning, birds will keep singing, and flowers will still bloom in the spring without him.
The doomsday trick has been exploited by traditional religions for millennia, but as they are on decline, it is inherited and successfully adopted by the Green Cult.

Just think: We came within just a few votes of having Al Gore be President of the United States.
What a disaster that would have been. I’m thinking it would have been just as bad or worse than what we got from Joe Biden. Both men are equally delusional and both have an authoritarian streak in them.

Chance alone would determine that predicting a warming trend would be correct. If I predict that someplace (non- specific) on earth will be warmer at some time (non specific) in the future, the odds of me being correct improves greatly. The odds are really good that a cold beer would make me feel better about it.
Planetary climate is always either warming or getting cooler, just like cardiogram of an alive person or open stock market value. It could only not change if a planet were geologically dead, and other factors, like its star and cosmic were also not changing. The Green Cult champions dead Earth climate.
Also, depending on the chosen time interval, the climate can be both warming and cooling at the same time. For example the Earth is cooling on time scale on the scale of millions of years but warming the last 200 years.
Even a clock that has altogether stopped working is right twice a day.

It wouldn’t be hard to predict that temperatures would rise.
After all, we have the written, historic temperature records which show that since the end of the Little Ice Age the temperatures have warmed and then cooled and then warmed again, and then cooled again, so in 1980, it was easy to think that we were in for another few decades of warming, like had happened in the past, and sure enough, that’s what happened.
But even the IPCC says CO2 was not responsible for the previous warmings, yet they claim that the current warming, which is no warmer than in the past, is caused by CO2.
They can’t have it both ways. That doesn’t prevent them from trying to have it both ways. But logic and facts are against them.
Mr. Bradley creates a beguiling image of Apocalyptic Al going off at regular intervals like a cuckoo clock. Novelty clockmakers currently sell a popular model with bird songs and accompanying pictures that provide twelve different songs, one for each hour, Let’s hope another clockmaker can cash in on the Al Gore clock with his angry, bug-eyed face emerging and chirping “Doomsday!” with the number of chirps corresponding with each hour.
Invite people over for lunch, and guests will be laughing their heads off by noon, when Apocalyptic Al chirps twelve times, and his eyes bulge with purple rage. Lunch guests will be ready to go home by 2:00, before the number of chirps makes them feel like throwing cream pie at the clock.
He should be held accountable for all of his climate predictions that have not happened. He should explain why these ridiculous prognostications have not occurred. If the media did their job we wouldn’t have to listen to his claptrap anymore.
