You ‘no longer’ have ‘a choice’! Watch: Kerry’s daughter Vanessa Kerry: ‘We must accept that there is no other way forward than to phase out our reliance on fossil fuels. Simply mitigation and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions — is no longer a choice’

From CLIMATE DEPOT

By Marc Morano

The WHO ‘Special Envoy for Climate Change & Health Vanessa Kerry: “We can and must make different decisions. We must accept that there is no other way forward than to phase out our reliance on fossil fuels. Simply mitigation and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions — is no longer a choice.

Dr Vanessa Kerry appointed as WHO Director-General Special Envoy for Climate Change and Health – “We are delighted to have Dr Vanessa Kerry join WHO as our Special Envoy for Climate Change and Health. Her extensive experience and dedication to public health make her an invaluable asset in addressing the health consequences of climate change. Together, we will work towards a more sustainable and resilient future for all,” said Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, WHO Director-General, WHO.

Climate change is emerging as the greatest health challenge of the 21st century, impacting various aspects of human well-being. Extreme weather events, noncommunicable and infectious diseases, as well as health infrastructure and workforce capacity, are all being significantly affected.

“I am honoured to serve as the WHO Director-General Special Envoy for Climate Change and Health. The climate crisis is a health crisis – it poses a fundamental threat to global health, and urgent action is needed to mitigate and adapt against this complex challenge. Climate change is already wreaking havoc across the world – from the cholera outbreak in Malawi to heat-related illness in India – we must invest in strong health systems now which are resilient against these impacts. I will work with WHO and its partners to drive awareness, develop solutions and build consensus for action for a healthier future for everyone on this planet,” said Dr Kerry.

Both John Kerry and Vanessa Kerry also serve as “agenda contributors” to the World Economic Forum.

World Economic Forum ‘agenda contributor’ & John Kerry’s daughter, Vanessa, deliberate on how to leverage the ’emotion’ from the ‘pandemic’ to help advance the ‘climate crisis’ narrative, using ‘storytelling’

September 27, 2023

Vanessa Kerry, the World Health Organization’s special envoy for climate change, spoke on a World Economic Forum panel to discuss how to successfully prey on the public’s fear and emotions following the pandemic to push the “climate crisis” narrative.

World Economic Forum ‘agenda contributor’ Jemilah Mahmood: “The pandemic was an opportunity, I think all over the world, people realize how important health was…..how now do we take that emotion…of the health factors so critical but guess what guys, the climate crisis is creating more health issues than you can ever imagine, but no one has been able to make that link in the past.” …

Vanessa Kerry: “Covid taught us all these lessons learned, and we should be incorporating that….and the climate crisis is going to be so much worse.”

Jemilah Mahmood: “We were just talking about it earlier: ‘have people forgotten about Covid?’ So, I think it’s about the storytelling element.  I think that a lot of the things we see on health are very doom and gloom very, very much, even on the climate issue,  right, the extent that people feel ‘I can’t deal with this anymore …I can’t do this.’ But telling, you know, really inspiring stories about what is possible if we work together.”

Actually, Warren, Climate Change (meaning anthropogenic) is not the universal conclusion of all scientific research. The Science of Sequence Stratigraphy shows climate changes and cycles are entirely normal, and that we are not in any unique or new climate change sequence, and, more importantly, there is no valid signal of anthropogenic contribution to the climate changes and cycles. So, it is apparent that Doctor Vanessa Kerry is not stupid, ergo, she must be dishonest. Deal with it.

Akin to, and largely responsible for the sweeping changes in our industrial-military posture, has been the technological revolution during recent decades. In this revolution, research has become central; it also becomes more formalized, complex, and costly. A steadily increasing share is conducted for, by, or at the direction of, the Federal government. Yet, in holding scientific research and discovery in respect, as we should, we must also be alert to the equal and opposite danger that public policy could itself become the captive of a scientific-technological elite.”

No, the phone sanitisers went on the B-ark and in fact the planet died from a disease caught from a telephone.

I always think of mutant space-goats when I think of the alarmists…

Golgafrincham was a planet, once home to the Great Circling Poets of Arium. The descendants of these poets made up tales of impending doom about the planet. The tales varied; some said it was going to crash into the sun, or the moon was going to crash into the planet. Others said the planet was to be invaded by twelve-foot piranha bees and still others said it was in danger of being eaten by an enormous mutant star-goat.

These tales of impending doom allowed the Golgafrinchans to rid themselves of an entire useless third of their population. The story was that they would build three Ark ships. Into the A ship would go all the leaders, scientists and other high achievers. The C ship would contain all the people who made things and did things, and the B Ark would hold everyone else, such as hairdressers and telephone sanitisers. They sent the B ship off first, but of course, the other two-thirds of the population stayed on the planet and lived full, rich and happy lives until they were all wiped out by a virulent disease contracted from a dirty telephone.

There’s a “Warren Beeton” featured in this Citizens’ Climate Lobby 2017 page. Is that you? And if so, has CCL specifically tasked – perhaps even paying you? – with repeating what looks like pre-prepared talking points here at WUWT from the IPCC / Al Gore side, or is this something you’ve doing entirely on your own volition? Regarding the supposed “Conservatives on Climate Change” referenced in CCL pages, I have this observation, held for many years now: There are only two kinds of conservatives, those who are skeptics of CAGW, and those who would become skeptics after taking the time to read material from the skeptic side at huge depth. If indeed you are the person identified in that CCL piece, it appears you fit into that latter category, as it appears to me you have no familiarity at all with myriad faults in the IPCC / Al Gore side, ranging from the science to the pure political angles, e.g. your wipeout deep within this other WUWT comment section on the Oregon Petition Project.

Warren, it is not a difficult exercise to find research by reputable scientists that dispute some aspects of the alarmist climate narrative. You can watch “Climate The Movie” to hear such scientists. Too bad time machines don’t exist. If they did, I’d love to shove the spawn of Lurch into one (and any of her ilk who might wish to accompany her) and set the dial to somewhere in the early 1200’s or even earlier. I’d tell her and her buds there’s lots of nice, clean air to be breathed (that apparently no longer exists), clean water and no pollution. And, very low CO2.
I’d program the machine so that after, say, six months, they could return to our time.

Then, when the time machine comes back and the doors open, I would have to wonder if anyone would be onboard at all… Or would they have starved to death or died of diseases that today are easily treatable, having breathed all that fresh air and drank that “clean” water?

It will be a better world. Less severe winters. Many currently cold regions will be nicer- with far more people. Long before then, the West will realize how stupid the climate emergency story was. Long before then, fusion energy will be well developed. Energy will be cheap and abundant. The world economy will be far larger. Atmospheric CO2 will be much higher so all vegetation will grow faster. Ecosystems will be more diverse. There will be fewer severe weather events. Climate alarmism will be discussed in history classes for a few minutes and described as a form of mass hysteria brought about by self seeking wind/solar companies, and academics and bureaucrats seeking funding- and weak minded preachy types of activists like Warren Beeton.

They are not going to, so we will find out together. No matter how much people agonize, when Western politicians find out, as they are now, that they can choose between getting unelected by a huge majority or abandon net zero, they will abandon. As they are now.

And even if they don’t abandon, the ROW is not going to reduce, so emissions will keep rising.

Your fallacy is thinking there is something WE can do that will make any difference to rising emissions. There is not. We, the West, only do 25% and falling. The others who are doing the 75% and rising are just growing their economies and letting emissions go where they will, so emissions are growing in aggregate and there is absolutely nothing we can do about it.

When I went to elementary school in the 60s, the school had 4 classes of each grade. Every kid knew that the classes were divided by performance with the dumb class, the below to average class the average to above average class and the bright, high achieving class.

It was so well known that at the end of the year, when you got your final report card that told you your teacher for the next year, we would get together to see if we moved up, down or stayed the same.

Then rac!sm kicked in. They had to change the method due to the APPEARANCE of discrimination due to the underachievement or overachievement due to race.

So then they just mixed all the kids and teachers began to put 4 kids at a table, yep individual desks went away, and generally put one kid of each level at a table. So then the smarter kids just bumped along at the average level while helping the lowest performing kid to learn the basics.

Funny (not) story about the Las Vegas School District, which was created by a federal judge out of 5 or 6 separate systems previously controlled by separate cities and the overall county. The district created a GATE program (Gifted and Academically Talented) where selected students would be taken from their regular class to “special advanced” instruction. Amazing thing was it didn’t really matter how talented your kid was, if YOU were not a teacher or administrator working for the district. It was a typical socialist program set up so insiders could get THEIR kids advanced education without putting them in private school. That program eventually got cancelled. We CAN spend money on special kids, but only if they are especially BAD students.

The Keeling curve suggests it will take a couple of hundred years for CO2 to double. That would be about 1.5 degrees warmer. The finding costs of petroleum will be so high within a century that nuclear, biofuel, and synthetic liquid fuels will have to be used. The outcome of less fossil fuel use is inevitable, just these folks want to inflict much more hardship than reasonable progression of demand will.

MarkW

Mark, following is a list of results of several published ECS papers. CO2 absorption of IR is easily calculable in the modern age. Lots of lab CO2 IR absorption data exists that can be used to estimate ECS…Of course its hard to fly the equipment all over the globe at every elevation of the atmosphere at the same time and even if we could, it still probably wouldn’t meet YOUR criterion for “data”.
And I never said it won’t be economic to pump oil…it just won’t be economic for you to use it as fuel compared to some other type of manufactured fuel. The EROI of petroleum gets worse every decade.

Naw, it’s way more complex than a glass jar. But ECS for CO2 addition to the atmosphere is still somewhere around 1.5 C per doubling, which isn’t actually much…whether you think it’s a problem or not is another issue….I’m saying above it’s not an issue because petroleum use for motor fuel will decrease automatically way before CO2 doubles, as finding costs and EROI continue to increase for oil. We already look for oil in the Arctic and the deep sea. Does that sound easy to you ?

The amount of IR absorbed by CO2 and water vapor is well understood in the field of IR thermography for example. The amount of heating caused by the IR absorption of CO2 and H2O molecules can thus be calculated, unless you don’t believe in conservation of energy. You can make pretty reasonable assumptions about how this will affect the atmosphere (only a little according to say Modtran).

We can’t afford to construct Earth sized laboratories to “confirm” these calculations. But sooner or later one must accept basic principles exhibited at a bench scale and extend those to much larger interpretations. I don’t know what planet you live on, but in this one, the climate is dominated by negative feedbacks. Some quite strong. As a result the actual climate sensitivity is only a tiny fraction of what your no feedback sensitivity assumes.

And we do have alternative planets. The past.
In the past CO2 levels have been as high as 5000 to 7000 ppm, and not only did nothing bad happen, life thrived.

As to your pathetic insults, that sounds more like you and your fellow travellers.

You forgot (and this is ALWAYS the problem with ALL such SUPPOSED “ECS”numbers) to say “ALL OTHER THINGS HELD EQUAL.”

A set of conditions that has never, does not, and will never exist. The feedbacks are negative, offsetting feedbacks, and they will reduce that PURELY HYPOTHETICAL supposed ‘ECS’ to something that cannot be distinguished from ZERO.

Which is what OBSERVATIONS support. Plenty of examples in various paleoclimate reconstructions show NO sensitivity to much higher atmospheric CO2 levels, and lots of examples of reverse correlation, all of which tells us the atmospheric CO2 “drives” NOTHING.

We must accept that there is no other way forward than to phase out our reliance on fossil fuels.

Same question to ask all the time people say this stuff. Who is this ‘we’? Does it include China?

The answer will always be, explicit or not, hedged or not, that no it does not include China, that its the West that must phase out, the ROW need not or should not. Even though if the West does act alone (there being no chance of anyone else following) it would make no difference to global warming.

At least, on the theory all the advocates subscribe to. So why are they so intent for us all to do these things that, on their own theory, will be totally useless?

Now you are asking the right question.

Your vote has no meaning. If it did, it wouldn’t be allowed. The idea that some form of warped democracy exists in the US or anywhere else is a myth. The immediate future is determined by more powerful people than you and it isn’t by a vote. The future happiness of the elites can’t be left to the proles.

>> We must accept that there is no other way forward than to phase out our reliance on fossil fuels.

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence!
As in “what facts support that there is no other way forward?”
Looking in the past and at the present fossil fuel have been and are nothing but good for us (including jet setting power hungry ketchup families)

I start paying attention to such claims, when they start focusing on global warming instead of climate change! Or at least make a direct connection between fossil fuel and climate change not using global warming. As long that is not the case, alarmists need to acknowledge the massive uncertainties and gaps in our knowledge (and conscious lies by some scientists!) about global warming.
Extrapolating from that to a perceived global or local climate change crisis seems scientifically impossible, but I am willing to learn, so please show me the evidence BEFORE making such claims!
Otherwise you could risk looking very stupid . .

John and Vanessa are oblivious to the fact that ridding the world of fossil fuels will rid the world of the 6,000 products made from fossil fuels that contributed to the world growing from 1 to 8 billion on less than 200 years !

Eradicating the world of crude oil usage would ground the 20,000 commercial aircraft, and more than 50,000 military aircraft in the world and leave the 50,000 merchant ships tied up at docks and discontinue the military and space programs! Without a backup plan to replace crude oil, the 8 billion on this planet will face the greatest threat to humanity without jets, merchant ships, and space programs.

Nope. MDs don’t learn manufacturing, that is a chemists’ job. MDs learn what drugs do what. How the drug is made is not taught. Some know that the original chemical derives from something biological, but don’t realize that many drugs available for are synthetic reproductions. Think of fentanyl precursors. They are cooked to get the final product.

“…more than 8 million people a year die from air pollution, more than in the entire Covid pandemic..”
That is a despicable mis-use of facts to support her position; the pollution of concern in that report is in poverty stricken countries where cooking and heating fires with brush and dung are the source of “air pollution”. Use of fossil fuels in those areas would relieve those conditions.

Of course CO2 has NOTHING to do with those tragedies and thus the “solutions” she and her ignorant dad are proposing are not relevant.

Why the long face?
She must be as addled as her father, perhaps it is in the genes?
I particularly like her use of the term ‘we’ as in ‘we must stop using all fossil fuels’.
Maybe she can have a word with father John Kerry and begin the new ‘we’ campaign by stopping him flying around the world so frequently in his ever ready private jet.
Her list of daily weather events that she claims is evidence of the climate crisis is about as compelling a statement as Joe telling us his efforts since being in office has resulted in a record fossil fuel output in the USA this past year.

He tried to get away with the claim, “I don’t own a private jet” as some kind of justification for his extensive use of private flight.

It turns out he used his wife’s plane, who herself under some heat sold it and then began leasing. This speaks to the Kerry dishonesty.

She wants us to ignore science & scientific method and put all of our eggs into a single basket of following the dictates of a single government which may make a serious error that destroys us ALL. That is anti-evolutionary. Species survive by having a variety to survive the changing conditions of life. The founders of the US followed this Natural Law when they allowed each state to have individual sovereignty to explore a variety of methods in governing.
She demands that we not think for ourselves & follow orders in the failed ideology of Communism. It has been the money stolen from the USA that allowed Communism to survive & increase. If you study actual history, you can see this happening through the hijacking of the US government from the inside. This hijacking is nearly complete at this time & we can see the rise of its dictatorship over the people instead of being OF & FOR them. “Our” government no longer REPRESENTS us, it represents the interests of our enemies. It even robs our citizens of needed funds to send to our enemies by the trillions!
