Prince Harry and Meghan Climate Conference Private Jet Holiday

Essay by Eric Worrall

Is the habitual breathtaking climate hypocrisy of these reprehensible royal crybabies still newsworthy?

Harry and Meghan use private jet for holiday days after attending mental health conference

Despite repeatedly stressing their eco credentials, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex jetted off on a private jet to go on a Caribbean holiday after attending a climate change event

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex flew off on a private jet to enjoy a Caribbean holiday… after attending a conference that warned of how the blight of climate change is damaging children’s mental health.

Eco campaigners Prince Harry and wife Meghan were branded “hypocrites” over their carbon-belching jaunt. They attended the summit in New York on October 10 then flew from New Jersey to Canouan in a Falcon 7X for a holiday the next day. And last Sunday, they used the same aircraft to travel four hours from the exclusive island hotspot to Atlanta, Georgia.

Harry has in the past defended his private jet use as being an unfortunate necessity, and promised to do better in the future;

… Launching Travalyst, a new eco-tourism company in Amsterdam on Tuesday, the father of baby Archie Harrison defended his family’s need to fly private on occasion.

“I came here by commercial,” the 34-year-old said, according to the Associated Press.

“I spend 99 percent of my life traveling the world by commercial. Occasionally, there needs to be an opportunity based on a unique circumstance to ensure my family are safe and it’s genuinely as simple as that. But as I said in my speech, for me, it’s about balance.”

“We can all do better,” he added. “And while no is perfect, we are all responsible for our individual impact. The question is what we do to balance it out.” …

There you have it plebs. The same justification anti-gun celebrities and politicians use when surrounding themselves with armed security.

You and your family don’t deserve protection and special treatment like they do. Their value to the world justifies them breaking the rules they seek to impose on unimportant people like you.

I spend 99 percent of my life traveling the world by commercial

Let’s suppose he really meant to say 99% of his flights are commercial. So two private jet flights are 1% of his travel. So he flies ~200 times a year (over unguessable distances). That’s quite a lot. Maybe more than an airline pilot (I don’t know what their duty-cycle is).

Even in the depths of a shooting-.war that seems a lot of travel to devote to diplomacy or campaigning, never mind a mere “emergency”.

You need to cut young Harry some slack. His air miles and acts of hypocrisy pale into insignificance alongside the billions of tourists haplessly swanning around the world to look at old buildings, If the climate zealots were serious about the so called climate catastrophe they would push to ban all non essential travel including air travel. That might make people search their commitment to climate action.

Careful what you ask for.
It’s official: France bans short-haul domestic flights in favour of train travel | Euronews

And have proposed limiting all regular citizens to two commercial round trips during their lifetimes.

And as I (tried) to point out over the weekend, it is not just the French nor even just national governments. The C40 Cities project, a collection of more nimble, local governments want to impose swingeing reductions in what we can consume and hence how much we can flourish.

A few activist mayors are a lot easier to imagine than activist presidents and prime ministers. Cities is where this nonsense will bite hardest and fastest. Note the proliferation of low-emission zones. They will make ICE vehicles impractical long before the natural end of their service life.

Well, one good thing: It’s easier to vote a mayor out of office than a president or prime minister.

Harry was notable by his presence in the pits of one of the F1 teams at the US GP at the weekend.

It’s now beyond hypocrisy, it’s downright intellectual stupidity. The man hasn’t two brain cells to rub together.

Doubtless he was flown into the event by helicopter, standard practice for F1 teams their drivers and guests, and then enjoyed the profligate and unnecessary waste of fossil fuels being burned by 20 cars going round in circles with fuel consumption figures doubtless well into single digits, despite their wasteful hybrid battery packs.

Personally, I enjoy that profligate waste of fuel. I was born into a motor racing family, what’s not to enjoy? Especially the smell of Castrol R, which is only in evidence at classic events these days.

However, if I was a climate and environmental whinger I sure wouldn’t be dumb enough to bee seen dead at an F1 event.

And if Concorde was still flying I’m confident we would have seen him in France to watch England lose in the Rugby World Cup semi-final on Saturday.

Just as well Cricket is not his game because England also played South Africa in the ICC world cup the same day.

He was a moron before he married the gold-digger, now they are attention-seeking morons together. I just wish people would stop giving them air time – they wanted privacy so give it to them, stop reporting their every move and let them sink into private obscurity – his family will likely be even ‘safer’ then!

HS,
To be absolutely clear, the fuel being burned in the F1 cars is “sustainable”, therefore derived from plants and or in some way … synthetically produced.

It has been pointed out that this emphasis on “sustainable” fuel is the ultimate greenwash window dressing irony when considering the entire energy budget (in FF, of course) necessary to move the entire F1 circus to 23 venues around the world.

I am old enough to remember the gasoline shortages of the Carter years. Auto racing was explicitly not halted since the cars reportedly didn’t burn gasoline, they were said to burn ethanol. Don’t know if that is really true, but it is what they said. Also, they probably could not afford to alienate the millions of voters who love racing.

Pretty much only Indycar uses methanol. All the others, F1, NASCAR, use gasoline.

To be absolutely clear,

“The fuel revolution has already begun, with F1’s new generation of cars running on ‘E10’ fuel – a blend of 90% fuel and 10% renewable ethanol – this year. “The 10% of ethanol that we’re putting in now is entirely sustainable,””

Petrol with 10% ethanol.

Le Mans, on the other hand, this year was run on fuel made from grape skins.

It’s testimony to the unseriousness of much of the US population that anyone even knows who these two bozos are. Who cares if they spend the rest of their insignificant lives aloft in private jets? Is their hypocrisy more extravagant than that of others, for instance John Kerry, who can actually do some damage from his position as an appointee by the Alzheimer’s wing of the Democratic Party?

Wealden District Council, which has been led since May by a coalition of LibDems and Greens mostly concerned with declaring a “Climate Emergency“, is now launching a consultation on banning bonfires.

The council declares that, seeing as the planet will soon burn up in hellfire, detailed licensing requirements need to be reviewed such that all public events can be forced to be “net zero in carbon emissions“.

I agree with banning the sale of fireworks to the general public, the number of injures is large
While not all firework injuries lead to hospital admission, just in England 1,835 people attended A&E for firework injuries in 2018/19. (UK Parliament)

  1. Most injuries from fireworks are to the eyes, head or hands.
  2. Most injuries happen at private or family displays; (Children’s Burns Trust).

Public firework displays are much safer & better to watch; plus less stress in animals.

O.K. Harry.

You say that you are responsible for your individual impact. What, exactly, do you do to ‘balance it out’? (being a leader and helping to work towards a ‘solution’ is not an acceptable answer.)

You have been on the bandwagon and thinking about this for 5 years now … it should not take you long to provide the answer.

Such an UK embarrassment that they left for California. Then cut a lucrative web broadcast deal. Then stiffed the deal thru laziness (insufficient produced shows as promised) and it got cancelled. Climate hypocrisy is the least of their problems, as King Charles is apparently disinclined to foot their big bill after the deal got cancelled.
They may run out of money to pay for private jets. The HORROR! Unlike DeCaprio and Kerry, who never will. And so will remain hypocrites forever.

They might have been a UK embarrassment a few years ago but they’re an American one now. Celebrities and politicians are avoiding them like the plague wherever they can these days, the freebies they once enjoyed have stopped and their public popularity is dropping rapidly. They vastly overestimated their star power, traded on it too often and now they’re paying the price.

October 23, 2023 2:45 pm

They are hardly alone. There were well over 100 private jets parked at the Sharm El-Sheikh airport during COP 27 last year. There were a similarly huge number at Davos last year and at COP 26 in Glasgow the year before. Meghan and Harry’s stupidity and sense of entltlement are hardly unique. We are surrounded by an aristocracy which pretends that they deserve special privileges and treatment – that they should not be subject to the restraints that harness the rest of us.

Maximilien Robespierre and the Committee of Public Safety had an answer for these people.

I have proposed that emissions of CO2 per year be limited for everyone to 1 Kerry.
A Kerry shall be the amount of CO2 emitted by John Kerry in 2022 from his share of the mansion he and his wife own, plus all of the other places he stays, plus all of his travel, including 100% of the CO2 emitted by a private jet trip and the emissions of a commercial jet trip divided by the number of passengers.
Perhaps it should be 1 Harry?
