Tribal Rangers Smash Burning Man Climate Protest Roadblock

Essay by Eric Worrall

Apparently its not OK for climate protestors to stop America’s elites from attending important events.

Watch: Native American Tribal Police Bust Up Climate Change Activists Blocking Road to Burning Man

JORDAN DIXON-HAMILTON 28 Aug 2023

Nevada Tribal Rangers on Sunday plowed through a climate change protest that caused a miles-long backup blocking traffic to the annual Burning Man festival.

Video footage from Sunday showed the Nevada Tribal Rangers successfully breaking up the demonstration by driving a truck through the blockade. Close to 150 cars were reportedly halted on the only road to Burning Man due to the protesters.

Read more (including video): https://www.breitbart.com/environment/2023/08/28/native-american-tribal-police-bust-climate-change-activists-blocking-road-burning-man/

For anyone concerned about the level of force the rangers used, Breitbart notes the sheer irresponsibility of the climate protest. Being trapped in a road jam in the Nevada desert heat can be life threatening. To deliberately create such a road jam is grossly irresponsible, and if anyone came to harm, would likely lead to accusations of criminal negligence.

While drivers could obviously have turned back, doing a u-turn in such conditions, with non a zero risk of high speed oncoming traffic, could have been very risky.

Having said that, one of the rangers is apparently under review for his actions;

One of the videos features a protestor screaming “We’re environmental protestors”, as they are rounded up and carted off.

If the protesters had stuck to lawfully waving a few banners from the side of the road, without inflicting their eco fascist roadblock onto other road users, I would have defended their right to protest, and of course, the right of drivers to ignore them.

What can I say? Don’t mess with Nevada police, especially the native rangers.

There’s video of people arguing with the entitled eco-fascists and then attempting to physically move them before the police arrive, although I was surprised at how subdued the reaction was. They should have channeled that German (?) lady who pulled the idiots off the road by the hair.

Everything they do is for the cameras. It’s not even for the environment, but most of them don’t realize it. These are the cannon fodder, not the brains behind the outfit. If they die protesting, it’s a valuable pawn for the brains to exploit. A little bit like the old poker saw, “if you don’t know who the mark is, you’re the mark”.

They are a bunch of hipsters out for a weekend of recreational drugs.

I was disgusted how weak and pathetic they were. I thought they would get ten men together and remove this tossers from the road but no, they just stood there after a half assed attempt.

Jeez, there was flat , dry terrain either side of the route, most of them were in SUVs, they could have just driven around this pathetic blockade and flipped them off on the way by.

  • Many of the vehicles there are low clearance vehicles, good for road trips, bad for off road.
  • Plus, without walking the side of the road, they could hit a sand pocket and get stuck.
  • The RV’s and those pulling RVs couldn’t go off road.
  • Many people are fearful of killing or maiming rare desert animals, e.g., desert tortoise.
  • Then there is the issue where the protestors brought up their support vehicles and blocked where others were going around the protest.

Inconvenience? 90 degrees plus out in the desert sun can be more than inconvenience. Car overheats running the aircon, running out of gas. No services, no water.

It can be a lot more than inconvenience. And its not just people going to burning man, other people live out there too. Its a reservation, not a private reserve for the privileged.

There is a dry lake bed near the protest site and so many hungry ants.
Move the protestors to the lake bed and chain them to their black piece of metal.

Then the Burning Man attendees can honk and wave as they drive by the now occupied lake bed.

While they’re not looking, pull and keep their AC fuses. See how they like the long drive back to civilization.

While in China they are busy weaponizing everything we have created ( and they have stolen and enhanced, manufactured etc) including weaponizing our own culture( and snowflake citizens) against us. I was just listing to an interview on how China has made major advances in weaponizing the human genome against their adversary’s ( that is you for any loony AGW activists out there) Talk about a threat to mother nature!

You have that right. Tribal land has their own law enforcement and they don’t have the restrictions that our courts place on our police. The rule is when on Tribal land, be extra careful to obey the law. Now should you commit murder, you will be turned over to our legal system because they don’t really have the ability to handle that but don’t expect to be treated well before you’re handed over.
The Indian casino are happy to take your money and treat you well as long as you behave. Just treat them with respect and they will return the same.

I did Ctrl/F searches. No “ashes”. “Ash” only as parts of words. “Clean” – “Everything is scrupulously clean, not a gum wrapper on the ground. For one week, the city exists in light and glory and flame … and then it is all folded up and taken away, and the desert reclaims the landscape.”

I’d like to hear his answer to both our questions.

What would the legal culpability of the protestors have been if someone driving at high speed (It is Nevada; I’m being redundant.) had crested a small hill and found traffic stopped dead, with ‘Seventh Day Adventurous Hippies’ wandering around on foot taking selfies, and someone had gotten killed?

People who do this need to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. It is only a matter of time when people do this that someone will die because of it. There are 3 scenarios that come to mind right off. Let’s say there is an ambulance on an emergency call where someone has had a heart attack or stroke and they need to get to the hospital right away. Ambulance gets stuck in one of these illegal roadblocks, patient dies. Or a fire engine is on the way to a fire, gets stuck and someone whom they could have saved dies. Or a semi truck can’t stop in time rear ends someone and kills them. If that ever happens the people doing this should be prosecuted for manslaughter.

I saw a video about one of these roadblocks on a major highway in England. One of the people stuck in traffic was a woman on her way to her mother’s funeral. Missed the funeral because of it. The people doing this couldn’t care less about other people. Throw them in a dark hole and forget about them.

We could also start reducing this lunacy by applying RICO laws. Somebody is funding this criminal activity. Go after them and put them in jail.

Rud Istvan

The nagging question in my mind is that something she was told would prevent her from getting arrested? And who told her and how do they know?

There are many in the American west very upset with “Environmental Protestor”s. Many environmental protestors prevented building and construction projects to “Save the desert tortoise”.
The same environmental protestor people supported huge solar and wind farms, large scale construction that basically kills birds, bats, insects and the endangered desert tortoise. (tortoises must eat and renewable construction projects tends to eliminate their food sources.

The label of “elites” used by Eric is not factual or accurate. Burning Man is a festival open to anybody and everybody, and people of all kinds, all incomes, all wealth statuses, positions, and social status attend. It’s a big outdoor party in the desert.

The bottom line is that nobody has the right to block a public road unless they first obtain a permit to do so (as occurs in a street festival or parade) from the responsible government entity. So the protesters were breaking the law. Regardless of whether there is or is not any inconvenience or risk to public safety.

The big irony here is that probably most of the people in the miles long line of traffic probably didn’t ever find out what the hold up was. But if the protestors had stood by the side of the road all those drivers, and many more, would have read their signs. The people who are trapped by the protestors have the right to use force. And obviously, just dragging them off the road to let them return is useless. They have the right to injure the protestors, by perhaps twisting or breaking a leg, to prevent them from blocking the road again. Just a few of these actions will surely stop the other protestors.

jdunfee12
August 30, 2023 11:06 am

I wonder if there have been any lawsuits against these kinds of protestors from the people who were blocked. The protestors may not have the funds to pay much, but a court order to pay their victims for their time, at perhaps $30/hr each, may make them regret their actions and discourage others from doing it.

Reply to  jdunfee12

For such a dangerous act, courts will likely find treble damages against the defendants. That is treble damages after agreeing to the defendants owe the inconvenienced for their time, per person.

150 plus vehicles, many with multiple occupants, that adds up quickly.
