Calling it a “Climate Crisis” is the moment a scientist turns into an activist and starts lying as needed.

An activist or a con artist. (I know there’s not much difference.)

Can’t they be both?

It would only be a ‘crisis’ if the person claiming it to be a crisis has to sacrifice anything. Funny how leftists portray themselves as either oppressed peasants or lofty elites, depending on what they are arguing. They are such hypocrites, I used to think I was a Democrat, and I used to hang out with them, but over time I realized I am not a leftist and their climate hypocrisy really showed me.

“”I used to think I was a Democrat””

Who would have thought Martin Luther King was a colourblind racist?

Talking of funny…

22’C has only become a heatwave in the last two or three years. Strangely the 22’C heatwave arrived at the same time as the Climate Catastrophe /Emergency.

About the same as it is here in balmy New Zealand, during early winter!

You laugh but here in BC, Environment Canada has issued warnings to be wary of “seasonally normal temperatures” and “seasonally normal amounts of snow”. You must be afraid of everything and be prepared to sacrifice your children if the Schwabians command it.

I live in BC too, and saw that. I also saw a CBC article saying our BC snow was melting in March — which I read on June 1st while staring at the snow-capped mountains around me. Anything to make people anxious, I guess.

Wish I could remember where I read it, but it was reported a while ago that “climate emissions are increasing”, so I think we’re OK for a while yet.

My glib answer is “Yea, that what’s expected when an ice age ends, like in 1850.”

And when they hit you with “you’re not a climate scientist,” hit ’em right back with “Neither are your three most famous climate speakers — Al Gore, he’s just a politician who took one climate science class back in college under Dr Roger Revelle who later recanted his position on CO2 — Greta Thunberg, she’s just a high school dropout — and Leonardo DiCaprio, invited to speak at the UN on the climate issue. He was an actor. An actor! There’s your first clue, Sherlock! Then he marries this gal named Hockley, they move to Cedar Rapids and she punches out a couple of kids. Now Hockley’s dead, and from what I hear Cedar Rapids is dead!!*

If someone is sprouting on about a climate crises, I reply with the only crisis is your naivety and stupity.

I think stupidity is a rude word to use. Gullibility is better and more accurate. Naïve and gullible. Yeah. That’s the ticket. Know nothing and believe anything. The perfect patsy. Give that man a carbon tax.

Stupidity, gullibility, naive and gullible. Persons who take a position in order to benefit from taking said position … in monetary terms, reputation / notariety etc.among a peer group i.e., identfying with a movement to further ones reputation and ambitions.. Many of those are not educationally or scientifically qualified to take such position … prime / classic example Al Gore, who enrolled in Harvard College, initially planned to major in English and write novels but switched to major in government running for freshman student class president … and you all know the rest..

Would you become a climate activist if it brought you a paid university or researcch position salary, opportunity to publish, etc.

If I may paraphrase your question: “Would you suspend all moral and ethical considerations to prostitute yourself, discredit your scientific and educational credentials as well as the scientific method in return for a few minutes of fame and a career supported by government handouts?”
I wouldn’t but many have.

I worked with an excellent septuagenarian who trained me by climbing radio masts with me. the most important lesson Mr. Chavaranis ever taught me, was this:
“Cilo, I don’t know if I’m honest, all I can say is that nobody has made me an offer I cannot refuse. Yet.”
I have not called myself an honest man since…

Was he enrolled in Harvard as an aspiring writer when he knew Eric Segal and was the model for Love Story? I thought he was in theology at Yale, but maybe that was later.

Good response! A “crisis” is a sociopolitical statement. In science things ARE or ARE NOT, at worst WILL IF certain conditions are met, otherwise WILL NOT.

Moreover, invoking “crisis” is a rhetorical trick, a manipulative maneuver k ow as “thinking beyond the sale”.

The trick is used by jewelry and new car salesmen: the customer says he wants an engagement ring for his soon-to-be fiancé or a new car for his new family, looking in this price range, which he has determined he can afford. The salesman agrees that is a good price for something that will “do the job”, but points out how excited his wife to be will be in years to come with the larger diamond, not to mention how impressed her girlfriends will bewhen she shows it to them. Or how confident he will be about the safety of his wife and children as they drive comfortably across the country to visit her parents. For just a “bit” more, that shiny new SUV will be what he needs, especially with the DVD players for the kids in the back. The customer is now caught up in an imaginary wonderful future rather than his needs or finances today. He bites.

If they argue “crisis”, then immediate supreme action is necessary, not a point of discussion.

Brilliant.

Perhaps we could use this argument to pin the Alarmist down on exactly what is the “crisis”, where and when, and why, from official data, not headline interpretations written by other alarmists …….

Ah, hell, probably not.
