Everything is hate and bots with these weak kneed crybullies.
Researchers have documented an explosion of hate and misinformation on Twitter since the Tesla billionaire took over in October 2022 — and now experts say communicating about climate science on the social network on which many of them rely is getting harder.
Policies aimed at curbing the deadly effects of climate change are accelerating, prompting a rise in what experts identify as organised resistance by opponents of climate reform.
Peter Gleick, a climate and water specialist with nearly 99,000 followers, announced on May 21 he would no longer post on the platform because it was amplifying racism and sexism.

These comments in reaction to Gleick’s dramatic, pearl-clutching, announcement of his departure sums up reality rather well.
Now that Twitter content moderators and healthy conversation enforcers are not amplifying climate activists nor suppressing dissenting voices it’s disheartening for those that believed everyone agrees with them.
Robert Rohde, a physicist and lead scientist at the non-profit environmental data analysis group Berkeley Earth, analysed activity on hundreds of accounts of widely followed specialists posting about climate science before and after the takeover.
He found climate scientists’ tweets were losing impact. The average number of likes they received was down 38 percent and average retweets fell 40 percent.

Andrew Dessler, professor of atmospheric sciences at Texas A&M University, said he was moving most of his climate communication to Substack, a newsletter platform.
“Climate communications on Twitter are less useful (now) given that I can see that my tweets are getting less engagement,” he said.
“In response to almost any tweet concerning climate change, I find my notifications inundated with replies from verified accounts making misleading or misguided claims.”

The time record holder for cry-bullying, Katherine Hayhoe, is discussed in the article as well. Last time we interacted she called me a white supremacist or something.
Climate scientist Katharine Hayhoe said replies from apparent trolls or bots had shot up
And of course Mann’s always complaining about organized conspiracies.
Michael Mann, a prominent climate scientist at the University of Pennsylvania and a regular target for abuse by deniers of climate change, said he believed the rise in misinformation was “organised and orchestrated” by opponents of climate reforms.

Self-cancellation… excellent!
There is always Truth Social.
🙂
“Climate scientist … said replies from apparent trolls or bots had shot up”
The argument seems to be that advocacy is too difficult?
And as a black, female lesbian he has become a target.
Is he also a native something?
And again the French international multi lingual TV state-owned pravda is pushing conspiracy ideation.
These guys are cowards. Questioning their statements/beliefs is not mis information or false information.
Since Musk took over Twitter, I’ve regained over 300 Tweeters about Propagation… The number had eroded away over three years, after an initial strong surge in 2019.
The Tweets have come back in amazing surges. First the Germans appeared — about 3 weeks ago 100 in one day. Then, just a few days ago, more than 100 Italian tweets appeared overnight.
I get the feeling that previous shadow-banning is being lifted regionally, as Musk’s new directives about free speech and open access spread through the company.
Gleick’s complaints, and Hayhoe’s and Dessler’s and Mann’s are the hand-wringing of the entitled who have suddenly had their privileges revoked.
Most likely their falling attention follows the removal of climate-approving bots. After all, all their prior admirers are still present. Were real people providing support, they’d rush to their hero’s defense. The present silence speaks volumes about the past noise.
So, I’m guessing that the angst among the alarmist coterie is their response to the realization that they’re not popular after all.
And having been entitled, the influx of the ordinary feels to them like abuse.
Sunshine is tough on those that wish to live in the shadows.
Twitter makes it very east to fact-check baseless claims. That is a problem for alarmists who depend on public ignorance for status.
In general the public seems to be better informed because at some point, everyone has noticed that the prophecies of doom have failed to materialize. Not only that, things are often going in the opposite direction.
When confronted by a solid rejection of some baseless claim or twisted fact, these “scientists” used to be able to throw their toys out of the cot and scream “deniers”. No longer. People can easily provide contradicting evidence that shows for the most part, gloom and doom is nothing more than computer modelling reported without the error bars. The more educated people are in general, the more they understand that a prediction of a 4 degree temperature rise in 80 years with 1% confidence is scientifically meaningless.
Also look for a switch from risk to relative risk. That is how Pfizer reported the efficacy of their now famous COVID shot. Relative Risk (RR) makes a comparison between two insignificant risks making the reduction look important. It is akin to claiming a % temperature change in Kelvins v.s. anomalies in F.
All students should be aware of these tricks by the time they get to Grade 10. Scientists whose trade is fear are discovering that even students are calling out their fanciful fantasies, their provocative prognostications, their WAGS. Shame….the demotion couldn’t be more deserved.
Point of Order: “Verklempt” is an esoteric Yiddish term meaning a deep sense of
confusion, depression, and loss of self-control over a profoundly negative (or
sometimes positive!) turn of events. It is supposed to refer to the deepest values of
the human soul. To evoke such a term in describing the “loss” felt by spoiled,
name-calling brats facing, at last, criticism because they demand the rest of the
world stop in the face of their massively disassociated delusions, and who are more
than disposed to initiate force against all those who so criticize their alarmism, is
wildly inappropriate. They feel threatened, lonely, and vulnerable because they are
being refuted by opponents merely challenging their lies (for which challenges they
have no meaningful response)? And they thus, instead, throw tantrums? That’s their
problem, not ours. On the contrary, to show them any official, widespread sympathy
should make any decent man feel verklempt at such a showing. Such a term much better
describes our loss than theirs.
