Essay by Eric Worrall
Emma Smart apparently attempted to approach Attenborough to discuss his disregard for the excess and inequality of eating at a restaurant.
Weymouth climate change protester arrested while Sir David Attenborough dined
A climate change protester has been arrested after reportedly approaching Sir David Attenborough at a Michelin-star restaurant on the south coast.
Dorset Police said Emma Smart, 45, was arrested on Thursday evening after an incident at Catch At The Old Fish Market in Weymouth.
…
Mrs Smart said in a statement: “The Catch is a symbol of excess and inequality in today’s world, Weymouth has average wages amongst the lowest in the UK and is at huge risk of sea level rises.
“Yet this restaurant still continues business as usual amongst the worst cost of living crisis many will ever experience.
“We don’t need another documentary series showing us that we are losing some 150 species going extinct globally every single day.
“What we need is action. Sir David is in a unique position to tell the truth about the biodiversity crisis.”

Emma Smart seems to perhaps be a little obsessed with David Attenborough? In February she published a polite get lost letter from her hero. This letter was apparently a response to correspondence which started when Emma was in prison.

The full BBC article mentions Emma was arrested under a Section 35 order, which in this case might mean she allegedly failed to obey a police order to get lost and stop harassing Attenborough.
Emma appears to be a member of “Scientist Rebellion“, an affiliate of Extinction Rebellion composed of scientists who are fed up with people not listening to their advice.
What do you think? Does Emma’s climate activism make you feel more inclined to listen to her scientific advice?
He got off light with no soup thrown.
When the Climate Cuckoo clock strikes twelve, will everything go back to normal? I hope.
While Craniometry is generally held in low regard, I am pretty sure I can spot a militant vegan/vegetarian when I see one.
I just hope the justice system doesn’t go all wimpish over this woman. Or the rest come to that.
There are many ways by which it could discourage further activity of this nature.
For instance the Magistrates could **sit on their hands waiting for a suitable slot in the busy Court schedules. Meanwhile she should obviously be required to report to the police at regularly very inconvenient times. **(No I’m not suggesting the Magistrates glue their hands to their chairs!!!)
This could go on for years, judging by the backlog partly created by her partners in crime.
Fining her is no good. That fellow Besos or something (I forget his name) will just pay the bill from his I’ll gotten gains and she’ll be out and about beings pain in the neck again with a grin on her face.
Attenborough is in a bit of a bind with this one. If he asks police to go easy on Emma, she’ll just keep coming at him. If he demands action, maybe a restraining order, Scientist Rebellion could exploit this to suggest they exposed Attenborough as a fake.
Most likely it will all quietly go away – but I’m going to keep an eye on it.
Yes Eric; this is what I fear may well happen due to what you say; but in my book it definitely should NOT. In my book a crime has been committed which affected more people than just Attenborough; so it should not be in his position to influence the outcome. That is a matter for the Justice system to decide in the context of sending a message to anyone wishing to copy the behaviour of this woman.
like you I shall keep an eye on it if I can; but that depends on the media that can just switch off the light, does it not?
“an affiliate of Extinction Rebellion composed of scientists…”
Scientists?!!!
Sure, they all have PHDs in Thunkology
“member of “Scientist Rebellion“, an affiliate of Extinction Rebellion ”
Yes, Science seems to be closer to the verge of extinction than the Tennessee snail darter.
Scientist rebellion activist says it all . .
Just a headline grabber with no intellect . .
One must remember that it is Sir David Attenbullshit and that he has specific rights towards and against other people that the general population don’t have.
Forgot the hiking boots and pushbike did you dearie?

When Climate Cuckoos fight, everyone wins.
Why am I not surprised she is a prison alumnus?
Both of which have no standing as “scientists” nor embrace the Mertonian Scientific Norms.
“I tried to find the science, and I couldn’t. Then I followed the money and found the science”…. Attenborough has fell into the money grab… a 96yr old making his last plays of “relevance”.
BTW Scientist Rebellion is in league with the Union of Concerned Scientists. Anyone can join, and in reality has no real scientists in the subject at hand….. an ideological, political front…..
Attenborough’s writing looks to be that of a very negative person.
If Smart was arrested for failure to follow a section 35 order then a section 34 notice should’ve been made by an inspector. That means that a section 35 is only used after previous anti-social behaviour by a group of people. Or that the police had notice that anti-social behaviour would occur. So the event that led to her arrest was not the only event. Something fishy [pun intended] going on with the BBC article not giving all the facts.
She is insane, and he is a c**t
