Essay by Eric Worrall
I cannot imagine what must be going through the minds of Uvalde parents, teachers, survivors and responders, as they watch former Vice President Al Gore use their pain as a green political prop.
Al Gore compares ‘climate deniers’ to Uvalde police officers
“They heard the screams, they heard the gunshots, and nobody stepped forward,” he said of law enforcement at the Texas school shooting.

Updated: 07/24/2022 10:03 AM EDTFormer Vice President Al Gore compared “climate deniers” to those law enforcement officials who waited more than an hour to attack the gunman in Uvalde, Texas, who killed 21 students and teachers.
“You know, the climate deniers are really in some ways similar to all of those almost 400 law enforcement officers in Uvalde, Texas, who were waiting outside an unlocked door while the children were being massacred,” he said in an interview with host Chuck Todd to air Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press.” “They heard the screams, they heard the gunshots, and nobody stepped forward.”
He added about that May shooting: “And God bless those families who’ve suffered so much. And law enforcement officials tell us that’s not typical of what law enforcement usually does. And confronted with this global emergency, what we’re doing with our inaction and failing to walk through the door and stop the killing is not typical of what we are capable of as human beings. We do have the solutions.”

Al Gore, who made a hundred million selling his TV station to foreign oil, predicted arctic ice would be gone by 2016, has a gigantic mansion size carbon footprint, and had a court ruling against his documentary film “An Inconvenient Truth” over its political bias, has spent much of his life trying to convince ordinary people to accept cuts to their lifestyle.
Al Gore only has himself to blame if people seem increasingly reluctant to listen to his climate rants. Apart from his personal energy extravagance, Gore has made some embarrassing public mistakes over the years when it comes to science. Even Politifact agrees Al Gore got his polar ice prediction wrong. And yes, Al Gore really did say the Earth’s interior temperature is “millions of degrees”, while spruiking geothermal energy.
If Al Gore wants people to take his climate claims seriously, he should make an effort to get the science right, instead of trivialising the pain of the recently bereaved.
This post has 41 comments now, but NOT ONE from the usual alarmist flogs defending / excusing their “climate champion” AL Gore.
It’s just one telling example that the whole “climate crisis” theme is supported by frauds and lurkers.
“climate deniers are … similar to all of those … law … officers in Uvalde, Texas” translation:
Old Joe is too old to run again in 2024. I’m just as stupid and will be only 76, so I’m announcing my candidacy.
Al missed a golden opportunity.
He could have claimed that beams that got through his ozone “hole” penetrated the officers’ brains creating an imbalance in their natural CO2 blood chemistry magnified by the presence of Man’s CO2 in their bloodstream.
(They’re lucky they didn’t go blind like those rabbits in New Zealand!)
He could have justified all his past claims instead of, once again, looking like an ethics-less, clueless idiot.
Obviously, the ‘linkage’ to holocaust denial is no longer enough for Gore and his ilk.
They are everything they claim to be against, intolerant, often violent and hateful
Gore’s latest bout of bad form speaks volumes
I just wonder if he is Greta’s dad. They both are not high on the intelligence scale.
If Al Gore fell deep in the woods, would anyone hear the shot?
Asking for a friend..
Too philosophical, RHS. However, I’m 97% sure no one would report hearing a shot.
(OK. I made up that 97% and I have no doubt I lowballed it. For example, I didn’t poll his family, who would say, “What shot? I didn’t hear any shot. Nobody saw me take the shot. You can’t prove I took the shot.”**

** ala Bart Simpson
(edit to credit Bart Simpson.)
Who brought this guy out of deep hibernation? I thought he was on his way to Venus to show us what could happen to Earth. Has all the money he got from Al Jazeera been spent and he needs to shill some more?
Al looked at Brandon and the current Dems and the last election and figured, “Hey! Maybe just a recount of just Dade County would work this time!”
“I coulda bin a contendah!”
I think ol’ Al has a numeracy problem. He once said the Earth’s interior was several million degrees.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_NQHJIseqng
I saw the video of the Uvalde cops in the corridor outside the classroom. Maybe a couple dozen or more. Include a score more outside the school. So he’s off by about an order of magnitude.
Algore is an idiot.
But a rich one. His Daddy had both money (tobacco) and political influence on a national scale (Senator). Kind of like Hunter Biden without the crack cocaine pictures. Don’t know about any hooker pictures, though.
Don’t forget the OIL money (Occidental Petroleum I believe it was).
Irony! And yet, typical of the Climate Fascists.
From the above article:
“Apart from his personal energy extravagance, Gore has made some embarrassing public mistakes over the years when it comes to science.”
Well, he’s continuing to this day to make such embarrassing mistakes!
In an “interview” on NBC’s Sunday July 24 Meet the Press TV program, Al Gore spouted off a bunch of misinformation and falsehoods, among the worst of which were this (referring to an image of the “thin blue line” of the Earth’s atmosphere as photographed nearly edge-on and enlarged as a backdrop to him):
“You know, what you see behind me is a picture from the space station showing how thin the atmosphere is. If you could drive to the top of that blue line, drive straight up in the air at interstate highway speeds, you’d get to the top of that line in about five minutes.”
— direct quote from transcript of interview available at https://www.nbcnews.com/meet-the-press/meet-press-july-24-2022-n1297457
Now, how utterly stupid is that! Let’s assume an “interstate highway speed” of 70 mph. That’s about 1.17 miles per minute. So five minutes at that speed would cover a distance of 5.83 miles, or about 9.4 km.
Most of the world scientists familiar with Earth’s atmosphere agree that the “top of the atmosphere” is conveniently defined to be at an altitude of ~100 km:
“. . . for scientists studying the balance of incoming and outgoing energy on the Earth, it is conceptually useful to think of the altitude at about 100 kilometers above the Earth as the ‘top of the atmosphere.’ “
— https://earthobservatory.nasa.gov
So, Mr. Al Gore—self-proclaimed “climate expert” and Nobel Prize winner that he is—only missed the actual depth of Earth’s atmosphere (that “blue line”) by an order-of-magnitude!
Moreover, most commercial wide-body jet aircraft flying today can operate at altitudes up to 40,000 feet (7.6 miles) and many private business jet can fly higher, up to about 45,000 feet (8.5 miles) altitude. So, as Al Gore ventures about in his (chartered) private jets or even demeans himself to take a commercial passenger jet flight, he has been apparently oblivious to the fact that he is flying above the altitude where he thinks the atmosphere ceases to exist.
Finally, it is hilarious to see what a fool Gore makes of himself otherwise in that NBC Meet the Press interview . . . and how show host Chuck Todd presents himself to be a pampering, fawning, bootlicking admirer of Gore by not challenging a single statement made by him, and even going so far as this (again, taken directly from the transcript):
“CHUCK TODD:
I’m not going to let you go without asking you this: Australia’s election was a climate change election. And you talked about, “In order to get that political will.” Jay Inslee tried to run a climate-focused campaign and it didn’t get off the ground. Why not you, Al Gore?
FMR. VICE PRES. AL GORE:
Why not me, as a candidate?
CHUCK TODD:
Leading a climate change presidential campaign in the future.”
At this point, words fail me.
I think I’m going to puke.
Climate alarmists are like the Democrats working to elect Hillary Clinton who commissioned a fake dossier on Donald Trump to get their way and the Democrats and the media that perpetuated the lie to get their way. Coincidentally most, if not all of them, also happen to be climate alarmists.
The big question is, what is that they want so badly?
Control. They want control. Or power if you will. The power to make you do what they want.
If we only had a simple four letter adjective to describe such behavior: creating lies and unquestioningly perpetuating lies to achieve power and control. Sounds almost biblical.
Al who?
ManBearPig!
A really good Southpark
Anyone can do the analogy game.
Alarmism is like the morning after a boozy dinner. You panic when you see the red wee, vowing to give up the demon booze, then you remember you had roasted beetroot.
You get your point across and with no need to be offensive.
This is sick. Using someone else’s tragedy as if there is some equivalence between the Uvalde massacre and climate and weather that people experience. What is the link and where are the people being ‘murdered’ by someone using the weather?
What Algore seems to allude to is that the climate alarmists that attack rather than engage in civil negotiation are a proxy for the deluded and deranged gunman. As always evil prevails when good men do nothing.
Poor Al . . . if he had only won his home state of Tennessee, he would have been president. But he din’t . . .
Even Tipper got tired of his flaccid ideological tripe; yet, he is undeterred in his attempt to beg for attentive relevance. We need ‘less Ron,’ not a ‘mo’ron’ . . . 😀
On another note, I drove from Austin, TX to Gunnison, CO a couple of days ago and was struck by the difference in landscape South of Santa Fe, NM and North of it. Staggering, really. All green North of Santa Fe and desperately dry to the South of it.
Here’s a climate study from 2014 pronouncing the 11-year drought of the 1930s as the worst drought in 1,000 years. Seems like I’ve heard this somewhere before . . .
NASA study [from 2014] finds 1934 had worst drought of last thousand years
“A new study using a reconstruction of North American drought history over the last 1,000 years found that the drought of 1934 was the driest and most widespread of the last millennium.
Using a tree-ring-based drought record from the years 1000 to 2005 and modern records, scientists from NASA and Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory found the 1934 drought was 30 percent more severe than the runner-up drought (in 1580) and extended across 71.6 percent of western North America. For comparison, the average extent of the 2012 drought was 59.7 percent.”

No need to wonder why Tipper went on to ‘greener’ pastures . . .
Thank you again for the hanging chads of Florida.
Ok so I’m trying to ask the skeptics to please explain how you know it’s not real science? I’m not arguing, I’m just trying to understand. There’s so many people saying that we’re doomed, that this is the end, that we’ve gone past any point of return and there’s now nothing we can do. The latest climate report says it’s code red for humanity. They go on about the accelarating rate that the heat and melt is happening. How the arctic is heating up warmer than anywhere in the world, 4 times faster, they go on about how much Greenland is melting and the amount of water going into the ocean. deforestation, major droughts, extreme heatwaves like the ones going on right now in America and over in Britain, people are freaking out, the reports that the warming is happening much much faster than the models could have predicted, that the scientists are downplaying it and not revealing how bad things really are, they say the tipping points have been passed, that positive feedback loops are going to make things very bad and soon, they say this is going to cause the collapse of civilazation, massive food and water shortages, extreme longer droughts, extreme longer heat waves, mass migrations, human extinction, they say all of this IS happening, some are arguing within a couple of years and a lot of people are agreeing with that and defending that it is true, they say that the deniers and skeptics don’t understand the science and make their arguments without providing facts. I don’want any of this to be true, I don’t want to keep feeling like I’ve brought my 8 month old daughter into a doomed world where she has no future or at least a very dark and bleak one so please I’m asking, not because of previous predictions that didn’t come true, not just because of doomsday predictions being made for thousands of years but I’m asking currently, in the present, with everything that people are saying is going on and is happening, how do you know that none of them are correct. Not because of the past but because of the present, with science, how do you know that you’re correct and that they’re wrong? I’m not doubting or arguing, I’m just trying to understand. I’m not trying to come off as alarmist, I’m just terrified and hoping to find that none of this is as bad as they’re making it sound, so please if you have it in you at all to help out a total stranger who is seriously about to lose it, I’m trying not to kill myself, please I am begging for help. Please explain how in science, in present times right now you know that you all are right and that they’re wrong. Please use science to explain this.
“I’m not doubting or arguing, I’m just trying to understand.”
OK. I believe you.
A good place to start is by reading books on the subject . . . that is, get informed. This site offers links to many good books that provide exactly what you are looking for. For starters, I would recommend the book “Climate at a Glance” by Anthony Watts and James Taylor (advertised at top of this article on far right . . . also a free digital copy is available via https://climateataglance.com/ ) and the book “Politics and Climate Change: A History” by Andy May.
If you are looking for someone to spoon feed you arguments that you can then pass on to others without understanding of the science behind the reasoning, you’ve come to the wrong place . . . the topic of “climate change” is so multifold and complex that no single variable (such as atmospheric CO2 concentration changes) can explain it or be a means to control it.
Knowledge/wisdom, like respect, is something that cannot be handed out . . . it has to be earned.
Seize on the old adage: “The truth shall make your free.”
And trust me when I say that 99% of what the MSM and climate alarmists are fronting these days about climate emergencies and “catastrophic climate change” is pure, unadulterated bull-$hit.
Don’t panic. Your daughter can sleep well.
Booby K a troll. Don’t believe him. Don’t feed him. His gig is to beg for info, while dodging the issue at hand. Which is the latest excretion from that slime dog warmunista punk Algore, a despicable subhuman.
I assure you I’m not a troll, just haven’t found the answers I’ve been hoping to find
Gordon, Bobby has asked these questions and been given answers several times already, and he keeps coming back asking them over and over. Either he isn’t paying attention or he’s a troll. Or both.
If what you say is true, I have offered him a means to seek truth and become wise.
If he is not interested in such, more the pity, but I will not shed a tear for him nor regret my direct reply to him.
The Heptones had it right when they sang:
“. . . common people like you and me,
We’ll be builders for eternity.
Each is given a bag of tools, a shapeless mass,
And the book of rules.”
Perhaps Bobby K failed in well-forming his “shapeless mass” because he either didn’t use all the tools available in his “bag” or because he intentionally did not read all the Rules.
His problem, not mine.
I was just hoping for a specific scientific explanation debunking the alarmists. I wasn’t aware it was more complicated than that. So many people, not just scientists and media, but people in general are saying that this is happening and it’s only going to get worse and quickly. They’re scared, I’m beyond scared and I was just hoping to find something to make all this anxiety and worries go away
“I was just hoping for a specific scientific explanation debunking the alarmists”
You say you’re not a troll, but you keep coming back with the same questions and you have been given several answers, many with specific links, and others providing you specific things to look up. All of your concerns have been addressed in answers you have gotten in the past, but you continue to ignore that in favor of living in fear based on wild unsupported predictions by panic-mongers.
If you’re not a troll, you need to seek help to deal with your anxiety.
But none of the answers have been directly referenced to anything that I specifically ask. What I’ve mostly been asking or hoping for is a good solid debunking against the claims made by Sam Carana on the arctic news site and Guy Mcpherson that because of the melting ice and permafrost that huge amounts of methane are going to get released and because of tipping points and positive feedback loops it’s going to cause human extinction by 2026 or within this decade, a lot of people look at the research and evidence provided by Sam Carana at the arctic news site and say that the science is sound, precise, accurate, that he’s correct. I want them to be very very wrong so I was hoping to find a good debunking but no one seems to be addressing or debunking these claims which makes me worry it can’t be done. If I’m wrong, please I beg of you, prove me wrong.
because of tipping points and positive feedback loops it’s going to cause human extinction by 2026 or within this decade
Well AOC said we had 12 years back in 2020, that’s 2032. That’s just as credible. The comments here, links you’ve been given previously, and the archives around here provide plenty of information to show where that “prediction” is wrong. The IPCC itself doesn’t even come close to such a suggestion.
You have chosen to believe a panic-monger for some reason, and are dwelling on the fear. There is nothing anyone here can do to help you until you choose differently.
Bobby K, I suggest you start by pondering all the many UNANSWERED questions that agw proponents haven’t addressed, and use that as your basis for further research to finding that extraordinary evidence that is required to support extraordinary claims (remembering that the onus for observation / evidence / experiment is always on the party making the hypothesis / claims).
Why not start with –
what caused the Little Ice Age?
what ended the Little Ice Age?
what started the Roman Warm Period?
what ended the Roman Warm Period?
what started the 1930s devastating sustained hot weather period and drought in North America (read Grapes of Wrath)?
what ended this unusual prolonged weather event?
The uncontested (and uncontestable) answer to these questions Bobby is that it could not have had anything to do with atmospheric CO2 levels, being as how they were very much lower than they have been since the start to “manmade global warming” claims in the 1970s.
Also, it’s instructive to read the documented history of “extreme weather events”, and accept that there is nothing happening in contemporary times that has not happened to the same or more severity either prior to after the Industrial Revolution.
Just a ~ 4% change in cloudiness exerts more warming / cooling effects on land and oceans than all of man’s measurable contributions of CO2 to the atmosphere.
We need to be able to comprehend natural clouds behaviors before we get bent out of shape over vaunted manmade CO2 influences.
Come along for the information discovery ride here Bobby – it’s very interesting.
Above all – “don’t worry, be happy”
Ok so what are your arguments towards those who say that the roman and medevil warm periods were local and not global? That even though climate change in the past has been cyclical and natural that because of human interaction that this is unprecendented and happening at an accerating rate? People in general are very scared at watching what’s happening around and in front of them. Record breaking heatwaves, longer Summers, dangearous wild fires happening more frequently, 100 year storms happening more frequently, people talking about how long they’ve been without rain and there’s no rain in sight for the future, crops failing, people talking about how the weather where they live isn’t the same anymore, it’s warmer when it shouldn’t be and for longer periods, I’ve read comments from people in Alaska who are scared saying it’s not as cold, ice is thawing, they’re having wild fires, people in India are in 120 degree weather and struggling more and more for water and are terrified. There are many people talking on youtube, reddit and a lot of other sources about climate change and so many comments from many people who are scared and talking about how bad things are going to get, doomers are screaming about how screwed we are. If there’s an alternative explanation to all of this that has nothing to do with greenhouse gases getting trapped and causing heat I’m seriously all ears and willing to listen so please. What are your arguments to what I previously asked and can you give an explanation to why all this is happening that won’t scare the crap out of me and help me stop worrying that I’ve brought a child into a doomed world?
Step 1 Bobby would be quit Facebook and Reddit.
Step 2 would be stop reading click-bait alarmist media. And Wikipedia.
Step 3 would be exploring the historical archives to grasp from contemporary documents what has happened with weather / climate(s) in all regions before and after the Industrial Revolution.
Step 4 would be – put whatever each day’s weather brings you down to experience and learn to live with it. Because there’s bugger-all anyone can do to change it.
People can “say” anything they want. Unfortunately for them, the actual data refutes what they want to believe. LIA and MWP were both global, and the MWP was warmer than today.
We don’t “know” any such thing (with 100% cast-iron guaranteed certainty), and neither does “Science”.
“Science” is a process of elimination of conjectures (/ hypotheses / theories / paradigms) as more “evidence” — i.e. empirical measurements made by (correctly calibrated) scientific instruments in the real world — becomes available, it isn’t a state of “blind, unswerving belief” in a particular theory or “expert”.
The “scientific” response to such claims is something like :
“OK, what supporting evidence do you have for those bald assertions ?”
For genuine scientists it doesn’t matter how many people “agree with” a given opinion, the only thing that matters is : “What does the actual empirical data say ?”
In the past “some have argued” that Arctic sea ice will “disappear” (go below the 1 million sq. km. limit) “within a couple of (or ten) summers”.
Those “some people” turned out to always be wrong.

“Religion is a culture of faith; science is a culture of doubt.” — Richard Feynman
You are asking an important question but asking it the wrong way.
”how in science, in present times right now you know that you are right and that they’re wrong”
It is not necessary nor possible to prove a negative in most cases. Think of an atheist trying to prove to a religious believer that God doesn’t exist.
Science is not the process of proving one side of a debate wrong. When a scientific hypothesis about the way the natural world works is made, the next step is to make predictions about what one should observe in the real world if the hypothesis is correct. As long as one then tests those predictions against observations in the real world, and finds the observations match the predictions the hypothesis remains possibly true but not proven. As soon as observations are different from the prediction one must assume the hypothesis is in some way wrong.
All of the scary end-of-times predictions you have been reading are like the predictions of a hypothesis. None of them have come true and many of them are past their prediction date and therefor negate the hypothesis. Most of these predictions were made from computer climate models which, if the makers of those models were honest, would have been tossed aside as not fit for purpose. The models are essentially the hypothesis and the hypothesis has been invalidated.
Having said that, all you can conclude is the people making scary predictions are using invalidated hypotheses to do so and should not be taken seriously. The next step is to ask who has valid hypotheses and models of climate we can still rely on based on predictions that match observations. So far the most accurate climate model is Russian and it predicts very modest warming of no concern, uses a climate sensitivity for atmospheric CO2 on the very low end, and predicts temperatures close to what have been observed.
All the tabloid fixation on heat waves, floods, fires, melting ice, etc. is not scientific evidence. It is a long list of scary anecdotes and all the events reported are events that happened in the past just as they do now. Unless there is a statistical change in the frequency or severity of such events that is persistent over time you can’t and should not conclude anything from these anecdotes. Remember it is colder now than it has been for several thousand years. The warming measured in the last 100-150 years is trivial and more beneficial than harmful as far as life int eh biosphere is concerned. What would be catastrophic is a return to full ice age conditions of 18,000 years ago (a spec of time in human and Earth history) and that outcome is far more likely that rapid out of control warming.
Finally expertise and consensus mean nothing. I am a physician and scientist and can tell you most of what is published by experts and agreed to in consensus documents in the medical field is without real scientific merit, and very frequently with more scientific investigation is proven false and potentially harmful. It is money, drive for reputation and drive for power that makes this the case. Being correct isn’t a requirement to publish, be an expert, or run a scientific organization.
Bobby, stop putting so much emphasis on “science.” Science can’t create a computerized crystal ball no matter how sophisticated the model. A “global average temperature” isn’t science, it’s a math trick. The reality is that scientists are flawed humans like everybody else and sometimes they present science in a deceitful way. Sometimes they outright lie.
Go take a walk outside, wherever you live, and ask yourself if it has become unlivable there due to rising average temperatures. I can’t think of any place on Earth that has become a ghost town because of a rising global average temperature or sea level. Trust your own 5 senses. Go to the beach, climb a mountain, go skiing, or river rafting. It’s a beautiful world and will be for eons.
You may find that the older you become the more you begin to recognise that much of what younger people claim to be unprecedented is not that different from what you may have experienced whilst younger. However you need to take into account the amount of time the current generation spend living in artificially controlled climates in homes, offices, cars, public transport such as they have lost the ability to adapt to natural conditions outdoors. Perhaps ask the old people who have spent the majority of their life outdoors and see how much different the extreme events now are different to those a lifetime ago.
I will concede that perhaps wild fires may be more severe, but given the extra growth due to the CO2 fertilisation effect and the tendency for the authorities to extinguish smaller fires that would regularly reduce the forest fuel loads, it is inevitable that any subsequent fires will have larger fuel loads than what would have occurred if man had let nature run it’s course.
To think that our governments are spending billions, on “climate change”, based on this fool’s predictions.
I believe there was one officer who attempted to enter the classroom to save his wife. He was physically stopped by the consensus.
Mr. Gore needs to revise his analogy.
Al Gore is not about to admit that the Uvalde police officers were—ahem—frozen in fear.
Non-sequitor there, Fat Albert. The Uvalde threat was real. Your ‘climate’ crap is hypothetical bullshit.
The former called for decisive action; the latter does not.
And ironically, far more misery, suffering and death will result if people heeded your bullshit than if they ignored it.
For the analogy to work, the police would have had to descend on the school, sans any kind of a shooter, and take out 20% of all the kids (not just that fourth grade room … the whole school), with the follow up justification:
“a school shooter may come, someday in the future, and if there are less kids in the way at that time, then we will be better able to do our jobs and stop the shooter (in that projected future).”
The police do NOT have an obligation to put their lives in danger. On the other hand, the military members are expected to get killed in the performance in the military.
PS: Yes, I am a veteran with an Honorable Discharge, and about one year in my service, I realized that fact. I also reenlisted after my first term, but I didn’t after that, as I was being “Divorce-raped” by ex-wife.
“On the other hand, the military members are expected to get killed in the performance in the military.”
Oh, so wrong on so many levels.
Didn’t you ever watch the movie Patton, where actor George C. Scott playing General Patton of WWII fame, delivers these immortal words:
“Now, I want you to remember that no bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making the other poor dumb bastard die for his country.”
Words to live by, literally.
If I ever have the chance I’m going to plant Al Gore’s butt on top of a fence post. Lord knows he can’t get there himself.
