This fortnightly Master Resource post will excerpt energy and climate material from the Media Balance Newsletter, published every other week by physicist John Droz Jr., founder of the Alliance for Wise Energy Decisions. The complete MBN for this post can be found here.
Of special interest in this issue is The Deep Optimism Manifesto, by David Siegel, which pays tribute to Julian Simon and explains again the historical basis for his outlook and its implications for our future.

Thank You so much. This is a KEEPER. It’s very comprehensive. Best.
This was interesting although I’ve long suspected this is the case . The environmentalists the drivers of all that is untrue in our world ,they have infiltrated every government, every village in the world.

Even in the runup to COP26, it looks like the media propaganda dam is breaking and bad news for warmunists (i.e. climate truth) is pouring thru the widening cracks. Not just the this collection.
UN Guterrez says COP26 likely fails. BoJo and Biden GND flails. World not warming, so now ‘warming causes colding’ babble. Arctic sea ice minimum is highest in a decade, so no death spiral. 2/3 of polar bears did NOT vanish by now as predicted. AR6 WG1 SPM contradicted by AR6 WG1. Further divergence of CMIP6 ECS from observational ECS. He who laughs last, laughs best. Winning.
Boris is out with the begging bowl on behalf of usa

The UK is not really a “playah” since its CO2 emissions are like 17th in the world and China actually emits more per capita. Once upon a time lead in the environment was an issue that was real – CO2 is not a real issue. It took decades before the banishment of lead was achieved and it appears it will take more decades to finally prove CO2 is not a problem unlike lead.
I think youl find the UK has a huge investment in decaronisation, paid for by stealing carbon taxes of the people, it also has a massive investment of brainwashing its children into believing this crap, it also has a massive investment in the propaganda battle probably the biggest investment made by any country, preaching to the world through its institutions and media.it has destroyed its heavy industry like no other country, all in the name of the climate and the environment, it does not matter if you think we are 17th in the co2 league when we act and impose like we are the first.
Your comment is unfounded and naive
All of this is quite likely to come crashing down, if not this winter (if by some miracle the UK avoids blackouts, or some cunning derivative thereof) then over the coming decade as we are further marginalised because we have surrendered our energy security.
The younger public are now so consumed by fear over climate change and covid they are now smelling a rat.
Questions are mounting, if not over the governments management of covid and climate change, then over the government itself and the policies it’s pursuing over both the issues.
Inflation will heap misery upon fear; illegal immigration will compound matters. Then the government will be forced to cut services which will make the Austerity years seem like a walk in the park.
When those walls are breached businesses which are on their last legs now, will fail, and unemployment will be on the rise, but with a vengeance.
Boris’ mad NetZero and Green Revolution will be punished and quietly consigned to history, as I suspect he will as well. The MSM are already smelling blood with even the BBC News items mentioning becalmed UK and wind turbines failing to deliver.
This will be the left’s opportunity to dethrone Boris and discredit the ‘Tories’, but it will be at the cost of green policies. They can’t accuse him of mismanagement without admitting green policies are the problem, not the solution. And if there’s one thing the left will abandon all honour (what little they have) over is getting themselves back into power.
They have tried everything over the last decade including dividing the country over racial, ethnic and gender lines, and nothing has worked. The scandal and expense of climate change will be the next target as it slowly dawns on people just how much NetZero will cost them personally.
One or other side has to admit climate policies are failing. Boris to save face, and the labour party to seize power, an ambition even they admitted was likely lost to them for the next 20 years.
One way or the other, defeat is coming for UK climate ambitions and, as we have been in the global Vanguard of late, so our’ capitulation’ will be in the global Vanguard over the coming five years.
Sorry, old chap, but my comments are well founded and the opposite of naive. The UK emits less than 4% of China’s CO2 but at least you are over 10 times the New Zealand contribution, eh? New Zealand is even less of a “playah” in this game. The game will probably continue for decades more until umpteen billions have been expended and then an oops will come….sorry….CO2 is not a problem….let’s forget about it and move on, shall we?
No lets not forget about it,who cares how much co2 the UK emits, when we are treated like we are the worst emitters, you don’t seem to have any idea whats happening in the UK.
Your comments are unfounded and naive
Thanks to shutting down UK coal power we have indeed massively lowered our CO2 output.
With increasing grid instability and sharply rising electric prices to be proud of, eh Griff?
B Clarke,
You seem to be sure that lead Pb is a poison. Yes, it is, at rather high concentrations. However, this is far from clear at the low concentrations used to scare people about their children getting loss of intelligence from environmental levels. I was involved in the topic in the late 1980s and as a chemist/scientist I found the dangers grossly exaggerated with a lot of crummy science involved. For example, estimates of the weight of stray solids ingested by children ranged over 3 orders of magnitude. It is a little hard to estimate how much Pb is ingested under these uncertainties.
However, because the thought-control community was hell bent on taking lead out of petrol (at a huge expense to society) the effort was steamrolled by mainly government scientists and medicos. Attempts were made to silence criticism of the Establishment in an early example of all that was bad about scare tactics, a preview to the awful junk called climate science.
If you truly believe that trace Pb is toxic and that it affects the IQ of children, you might please give a couple of the references to studies that you find compelling. Geoff S
Can you show me were I mentioned lead is a poison ? Can you show me were I mention lead? After you have done that explain to me why you think I’m ” sure”
When you address a comment to me because you did right Geoff then hit the reply button to me, anyone would think you did not want me to see what you had written a Geoff.
Never mind…his comments are naive and unfounded…and he should wash his hands in tetra-ethyl lead if he doesn’t “believe”. A chemist …Patterson….lead the fight to show that lead was not only harmful but was increasing in the environment everywhere. Good job Pat…thanks for helping everyone….even the naive who believe unfounded claims that lead is not harmful to human health.
Lead is a Cumulative poison, even in small amounts over time
Sherrington is playing you against me , for years he’s had a problem with me making spelling mistakes, last time he did this he got blown off the forum, hes chancing this thread because hardly anyone has joined in ,and he didn’t have the balls to reply to me.

And there are plenty more where that came from.
UK electricity prices are high because of the cost of natural gas.
When the “renewables” fail to keep up NG has to step and and stabilize the grid and keep up with demand that wind power can’t reliably cover thus prices soars BECAUSE of the failure of renewables!
Electricity bills to the consumer in the UK could be reduced by around 20% if they weren’t paying almost £12. billion a year in subsidies to unreliables
And why has gas gone 70% up in price this month alone? Why has gas gone up year on year 250%?
