My wife and I quit buying stuff for each other years ago, we’re at the point where it’s too much work. But we are observing other traditions… go gambling at a Tribal Casino, Chinese takeout, single malt around the neighbors fire-pit, and snowblower tag, (my Honda can throw snow 70 feet, so no one is safe).
Happy Holidays to all, and Thanks to Anthony for another year of WUWT

Happy Christmas. Thanks for all the hard work Anthony and crew.
That advert reminds me of the scientific optimism of the 1950s when it was anticipated that the nuclear industry would produce cheap energy worldwide and lead to prosperity for all the poor of the world.
Then the socialist fearmongers got to work and the long decline began.
With advancing technology we could have had clean nuclear power long ago and the wealth from that would have led to lower population growth rates and much better control of real pollution.
Authoritarian emotionally driven do gooders always make things worse.

Merry Christmas!! Thanks for all you do to inform the world and expose the fraudulent science out there…
Old ad says uranium produces 3 million times more energy than coal (not sure that’s exactly right, but the gist is correct), but the ad didn’t mention that coal produces thousands of times more energy than pinwheels or sun-squares…….

Happy Christmas to you all from Lincoln UK. Didn’t get coal but I have been working my way through a couple of bottles of wine. Hic. The single malt is for later this evening after the dinner has settled. I am warm, well fed and entertained all thanks to fossil fuel energy – we should give thanks for it and hope that every corner of the world may have the same blessings one day. That is where world peace and prosperity will happen, not from some bureaucratic groupthink.

Despite my mother’s warnings, I routinely ran with scissors and played with sharp sticks that could have put my eye out this past year….Santa must be Woke because when I came down this morning, I found, instead of a lump of coal in my stocking, a PV cell.
Merry Christmas to all, and Happy Festivus to the rest of us.

Happy Christmas Anthony and all who help out and contribute and to all (well nearly all) who comment. Those of you who fear you may become targets under a Biden administration I sincerely hope that doesn’t come to pass and that the new year turns out brighter than we expect. Now make merry while we still can. Cheers
Coal is a nonrewable resource hence it doesn’t calculate on my lists. This year I made a concerted effort to stay local, made purchases from friends who had small businesses while making sure my gifts were sustainable. We all have to do our part.

A Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all here this season – even Griff, Nick, and Steven…
(With luck, this will work. If not, a reminder that, even in the most bitter and desperate conflicts, the other side is composed of human beings, children of God just as much as those we agree with.)
There isn’t any family Christmas dinner at out house this year, it seems that there are a lot of family members and I assume a lot of people in general who believe what the carnival barking media anchors are telling them. So, figuratively speaking, nuthin’ but coal under our tree this year, and probably from here on out. It appears that 2016 was the last year the American people decided who would be president in the United States.
That isn’t what was meant? California is on course to decommission their last nuclear power station. The Biden administration says it will outlaw fracking. Now that the Democrats know they can get away with stuffing the ballot box in broad day light – Oh I alluded to that above uh sorry.
Without anything better to do this Christmas morning, an analysis of GISTEMP files since 2003 shows that their Land Ocean Temperature Index (LOTI) has an interesting bump in corrective action activity starting in 2012:
Number of changes per month:
Time Series . . Changes
2002-2011 . . . 81
2012-2020 . . . 574
2002-2020 . . . 327
That’s an increase of seven times in the number of monthly changes since 2012. This goes on month after month as a steady drone. Just for giggles I could email the Rudy Toot Toot gang in the attic above Tom’s Restaurant and ask them what changed 8 years ago.
Oh! I found out that although it looks like you can paste [Ctrl V] an image into the “Post Comment” box here at WUWT, the code for the image is what shows up. My apologies to the mods for inadvertently spamming this place by mistake.
If you read the above meandering this far, Merry Christmas!

Thank you for your fair minded, generous hearted sanity, and for the clear way you live the courage of your convictions. We may yet find a way through the various insanities with the light you shine.
Here in the UK, National Grid trailed the fact that they planned to avoid coal use ahead of Christmas by suggesting it could be our first coal free Christmas, taking advantage of the fact that it is usually the lowest demand day of the year because industry and commerce is largely shut down
For once they were right too, in that the BritNed interconnector has been out since 8th December, and likely won’t be back until at least 1st February. That means no coal fired power from the Maasvlatkte power station at the other end of the line
However, they seem to have greatly underestimated demand
Outturn peaked at 37,442MW, probably because is was a cooler day. Economising on the coal was maybe an expensive choice: the peak half hour system price was almost £80/MWh, and they had to fire up some OCGT generation in short order and call on pumped storage.
France provided 2GW of mainly nuclear most of the day, adding to the 6.2GW produced here, while CCGT performed its usual heroic role of adjusting with the main changes in demand over the day, adjusting from 5GW overnight to a peak of 15.7GW. We had a little more solar than normal – peaking around 2.5GW in the winter sunshine out of 13GW of capacity, while wind provided 7-9GW, picking up in the afternoon.
Merry Christmas to Anthony, Charles, Bob and all the merry gentlemen who run WUWT. Merry Christmas also to all the readers and commenters who keep WUWT moving on.
Thanks for all the hard work you do; We live in interesting times !

Her presentation re: one uranium pellet equals so much coal etc. was hard to understand. Can she put it in manhattans?
