Biden Says He’s Not Banning Fracking Months After Promising To Stop All New Fracking Projects

Reposted from The Daily Caller

Former Vice President Joe Biden said Monday during a campaign stop in Pennsylvania that he has no intention of “banning fracking.”

Shale gas drilling rig on a field.

“I am not banning fracking. Let me say that again: I am not banning fracking. No matter how many times Donald Trump lies about me,” the former vice president said. Biden made the comments in a state largely dependent on natural gas development, and more than four months after saying at a Democratic debate in March that he will be ending new fracking projects.

Biden promised during CNN’s Democratic debate in Washington, D.C. to stop new fracking projects after his then-presidential rival, Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont, grilled the former vice president for not being tough enough on the oil industry. (RELATED: ‘No New Fracking’: Biden Calls For High Speed Rail To Move US Away From Oil Drilling)

Biden also suggested that he can transition the country away from fossil fuel-powered transportation and toward “high speed rail, taking millions of automobiles off the road. Making sure we move in a direction where no more drilling on federal lands [sic].” He said during a Delaware campaign speech in July that he will spend $2 trillion to create jobs while increasing green energy.

Biden plans to have an “emissions-free power sector” by 2035.

Fracking technology helps energy producers extract natural gas out of places like the Permian Basin in Texas, and the Marcellus Shale in Pennsylvania. The natural energy sector employs more than 106,000 in Pennsylvania, while indirectly supporting another 216,000 jobs in the state, according to data from the American Petroleum Institute.

The U.S. became the world’s largest producer of fracked natural gas in 2012, surpassing Russia despite former President Barack Obama’s decision in 2015 to place a moratorium on such production on public lands. It also passed coal as the country’s leading source of electricity in July 2017.

A must see: Biden debates Biden on fracking and fossil fuels – Joe Biden Debates Joe Biden In Empty Pittsburgh Warehouse
Clearly Joe Biden can’t even remember what he said only days, weeks, or a few months ago.  That, or he thinks nothing of doing total flip flops back and forth, and then adamantly lying about it – as if we’ve got zero memory too, and are incapable of using the internet to compare to his previous on record statements.

In his Pittsburg speech he even has the unmitigated gall to adamantly proclaim that Trump is a liar for saying Biden would end all fracking – when Biden has said that himself many many times quite recently – including on National TV in multiple primary debates!!  So… was Biden lying then, or is he lying now? Regardless, he’s very clearly lying about Trump when he says Trump’s supposedly lying about this, and Trump is exactly right.

It’s truly amazing.  I don’t see how anyone could possibly vote for Biden and this sort of behavior – but I know a huge number will, regardless.  It’s a really sad state of affairs America has come to these days.

Biden claims he said he would not ban existing fracking, only NEW fracking.
That is a grossly misleading statement.

That is a death sentence for fracking, because sites produce for a only few years, and then fracking at another site needs to be stared to maintain production levels, so called NEW fracking.

So Trump is right

Biden is against any NEW fracking, which means existing sites would peter out in a few years, and THERE WOULD BE NO GAS, which is exactly what BIDEN’s advisors, Bernie, AOC, Markey, want

“Clearly Joe Biden can’t even remember what he said only days, weeks, or a few months ago. That, or he thinks nothing of doing total flip flops back and forth, and then adamantly lying about it”

I think that is what Biden is doing. He, like just about all Democrats, is a hypocrite. He will say whatever his audience wants to hear. A few months ago, his audience, the radical Left, wanted to hear him say he would ban fracking, so that’s what he did. Now, the polls are showing that banning fracking is not very popular outside the radical Left, so Joe is changing his tune.

What this means is we can’t tell what Biden will actually do. We cannot trust a person like this. Especially since he is a criminal who tried to undermine the U.S. Constitution and rig the 2016 election, and failing that, concocted a plan to undermine the Trump presidency, which is ongoing among the Democrats.

Biden would have been a bad choice when he had full use of his faculties. Choosing him today would be a disaster for the United States.

And they all know that Joey has no idea how public transportation really works, because they’d never use it themselves. So this bit: toward “high speed rail, taking millions of automobiles off the road” is literally meaningless buzz words. Nothing else. We already have commuter rail transportation, except in areas where it’s impractical. The cost of adding high speed rail to those areas is a budget buster and not a necessity.

Just how will high-speed rail get me to the grocery store and back with a load of groceries? It sure won’t get me to the doctor’s office for a flu shot, or the pet food store to get stuff for my cat.

The practicalities of modern transportation escape these people completely.

High speed rail is for between city transport. It makes no sense to try and have high speed rail inside a city. As such, high speed rail can’t take a single car off the streets.
It might take a few cars off the interstates.
Regardless, high speed rail is competition to planes, not commuters.

Hi-speed passenger rail is not even a real competitor to planes. Airports can move far easier as demographics change than can hi-speed passenger rail. Point-to-point transportation can be added or deleted easily with airplane schedules. Not so with hi-speed passenger rail.

Because “my first action as president will be to, make sure that we defeat Donald Trump. Period!” “I been in a lotta locker rooms, if we were in high school, I’d take him behind the gym and beat the he11 out of him!”

“We’re, we’re, we’re, it’s uh, we’re in the middle of a pandemic that has cost us more than 85,000 jobs as of today. Lives of millions of people, millions of people, millions of jobs.” And let’s not forget we’re in the middle of a crimate clisis, and “150 million people have been killed” by those, those, bad guns in America!

“And, um, and uh, and I’m not, and I, I have a, I have a uh, like all of you but every day I get between an hour and an hour and a half brief with um, uh, the former head of, our former surgeon general, anyway, with docs across the country.”

Remember, the “O’Biden-Bama administration” was so great – “not a smidgen of corruption!” C’mon man! “We choose truth over facts!”

Never forget – “We hold these truths to be self-evident. All men n’ women created by – go – you know… you know, the thing!”

And if you don’t like me, well, you’re just “a lying dog faced pony soldier!!” Besides, “Corn Pop was a bad dude!”

And, uh, “if you’re a black American and can’t decide if you’re gonna vote for me, well, you ain’t black!” Not only that, but, c’mon, man, we all know “unlike the African American community … the Latino community is an incredibly diverse community,” I know what real black people think better than they do, after all, I was Vice President for “the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, that’s a storybook, man.” Besides, the, they… well, you know who, my, uh, opponent, well, “they’re gonna put ya’ll back in chains!”

Wait, “am I on camera?” Who am I? What was I saying? ““What am I doing?”

Oh, oh, ok, uh, thanks for the line man! So, I’m Joe, and I endorse this message! I’m hungry, where are Tipper’s fingers? Man, I mean, Valerie’s! “No, wait, she’s my sister”, where’re my wife Jill’s fingers for me to nibble on?!

Never mind – “I’m prepared to say that I have a record of over 40 years, and I’m gonna beat Joe Biden – Look. At. My. Record!”

I agree, Biden is not mentally incompetent. What Biden has is a misfiring brain. He will be talking and will suddenly lose his train of thought, and then he stands there for a few seconds searching for his original thought process. Everyone has probably experienced something like this at some point. But with Biden it happens just about every time he speaks now, to the point that he can’t hide it. He gets that far-a-way look in his eyes, and sometimes he recovers his original point, and sometimes he can’t, and goes off on a tangent.

It’s not somthing you want in your president. Biden’s mental impairment doesn’t keep him from lying his rear-end off, though.

Then quite a few other times he’s promised to end the use of all fossil fuels, which, of course, would include any fracking for gas or oil.

So… was he lyin’ then or is he lyin’ now or is his senility so bad that he just doesn’t even remember what he’s said before about it, even when only a few days or weeks have gone by, let alone harking back to the primaries! He took no questions, merely gave a speech to 8 people who were back many many feet away from him, including technical staff of his own, and a few members of the press. Even reading off the teleprompter he managed a massive flub:

“…“COVID has taken this year— just since the outbreak— has taken more than 100 year— look, here’s— the lives, it’s just, it’s just, I mean think about it— more lives this year than any other year,” Biden said…”

Coronavirus is going to be with us almost certainly for another year or two at least… a vaccine may or may not work, and may or may not be available…even if one is available, elderly people often don’t respond nearly as well to vaccines as younger people. Also, someone above asked how Biden can call a press conference a campaign event… I have to note it wasn’t even a press conference as he took no questions, and there was no press present! It was just a speech to cameramen read off the teleprompter – and he managed to flub even that badly!

If Biden is unwilling to come out of his basement to campaign, how the heck is he going to manage to run a nation???

High speed trains still have to stop at every city on their route. So at best, they only get to run at “high speed” for a couple of minutes a day.

Beyond that, existing rail lines aren’t built to support high speed trains, so before you can put those “high speed” trains on the tracks, you are going to have to rebuild just about every mile of track in the country.

Reply to  MarkW

Amtrack runs through areas of our part of the Midwest. On some track crossings, we are warned that trains ‘may’ exceed 80 MPH. Not too likely. The tracks, overall, are not in that great shape. The other tracks around here are usually limited to about 45 MPH. Even then, the cars rock back and forth!

High speed rail (HSR, if built at astronomical cost) would compete with commuter air travel not much with personal auto travel as few people drive 4-8 hours to attend an afternoon meeting. And not at all with anyone driving an hour or two to a neighboring city. Of course, HSR would need to be subsidized to be cost competitive with air. Of course, politicians would surely see the opportunity to add punitive taxes to air travel to make HSR more competitive. But I think a lot of business travelers would still opt to spend 3-4 hours traveling by jet than 6 -10 hours by train. Net result, lots of capital cost, few riders, not much change in auto use and inflation of non-automobile travel costs for both rail and air. The US is not Europe or Japan, it’s much bigger.

Rational Db8
Reply to  MarkW

Usually with high speed rail they don’t include all sorts of cities along the way like they do with regular commuter trains. Instead they run longer distances, so they are going at speed for longer periods of time. But they also have to build entirely new tracks for them… and it’s ungodly expensive. If you look at high speed rail around the world – at least last I checked tho that was several years back – virtually NONE of them even manage to break even on costs. I think there was only one that even managed to break even on operating costs, but even that one couldn’t begin to cover maintenance costs.

They’re a huge boondoggle, a massive waste of hard earned taxpayer dollars.

That surely isn’t true…

Look at HSR lines in Europe… Germany, France, even the UK… travel at high speed for longer than minutes… yes, rail lines do need upgrading for HS running – but aren’t US ones in a state anyway where they need renewal?

And why not build new HS rail lines? In a minute I’ll be leaving the house and will drive past construction sites for UK’s new HS2 rail line.

Reply to  griff
September 2, 2020 6:24 am

We don’t have any high speed rail in the UK yet. We are trying to get some built and it is costed at about 100 billion pounds currently but there are a lot of protests against it including from prominent environmentalists. The main driver for high speed rail in the UK is to expand capacity though as the current lines which merge intercity and commuter traffic and cargo together are at full capacity.

High speed rail is very good in China and massively sped up train journeys on the old track system there.

Reply to  griff

More empty assertions.
How can they travel at top speed for more than a few minutes when they have to start slowing down for the next stop every few miles.

As always, every time griff opens his mouth he demonstrates yet another subject on which he has no knowledge.

What exactly do you believe is necessary in order to upgrade a line for high speed trains. It’s not just replacing the rails themselves. In many cases curves have to be widened so that they can be taken at higher speed without the train tipping over.

We are constantly told that we should not accept as serious the utterly ludicrous statements made by Democrats to appese their base, but we should vote for one of them making such statements because they will moderate after the election. In fact, Obama made mostly moderate noise during his 2008 campaign, or at least this is what the press reported, then drifted substantially to left afterward. There are no assurances of how someone will govern once elected, or how they will make decisions after being appointed for life to the bench.

Joe Biden at his best was a mediocre mind, a liar, a plagiarist, and probably quite carefully corrupt. This comes with being a politician. If he also promises during a campaign on turning my life upside down, then I vote against him. Period. One of these days a Democrat is actually going to keep his campaign promises to turn the U.S. into a version of Venezuela.

The whole idea of saying fracing is ok when done on private leases and not ok on federal leases is absurd. If Sleepy Joe says he will allow “any” fracing; he is, in essence, saying all fracing is safe.

The Washington Post interviews someone who claims that he has been altering mail in ballots for the Democrats, for years. The author of the article states that she has verified that the person being interviewed has a long history of working on Democratic campaigns.

That’s the NY Post, not the WaPoo. The WaPoo wouldn’t print that report in a million years.

Biden is brilliant at doublespeak.
Less than a year ago he promised a young listener, “I Guarantee You We’re Going To End Fossil Fuel.”
Perhaps he does not remember?
Or does he not know fracking produces fossil fuel?

Ending fossil fuels is part of the Dems platform. If they end the use of fossil fuels they have ended fracking whether they ban it before hand or not. So his insistence that he wont ban fracking may be correct he just intends to remove any need for it. Kind of like allowing AR 15s but outlawing ownership of ammunition.

Joe just wants to be President.
He doesn’t care what he says, after all as Kamala said “It was a debate”. Whatever they say campaigning doesn’t matter.

S.t. that Konrad Adenauer once said, it’s right for all politicians, so for Biden 😀

To be fair, he did say no NEW fracking. Undoubtedly if he gained power that would spread to banning all fracking. But he hasn’t said that yet.

What I find more amusing is the trillions he’s willing to spend in order to make the “sustainable” energy sectors cheaper than fossil fuels. And just how many years will he keep that up? And what happens when this subsidy is no longer “sustainable” itself and the real costs suddenly become apparent?

There’s no such thing as on-going fracking. So to ban new fracking is to ban all fracking.

Banning new fracking has the same practical effect as banning all fracking.

“Biden plans to have an “emissions-free power sector” by 2035.”

Emission free? So no additional heat emitted, no water vapor emitted, no waste, everything will be 100% recyclable?

Wow, I can’t wait to see this…Oh…no. Yes I can wait.

This is the same demented Joe Biden that thinks someone armed with a knife trying attack a LE officer is actually “unarmed.”
Yes, he actually said that on the record., just a few months ago:

The man was simply a Fool’s Fool … even when he still had his full cognitive abilities. Now that his advancing dementia is clearly impairing his Executive Function. Anyone who knows that and still votes for this man for President of the US is themselves utterly stupid and beyond redemption IMO.

Biden’s poll numbers are absolutely cratering, so now Leftists are frantically lying like crazy to flip flop on far-Left policy positions held 2 seconds ago in a futile attempt to make Biden look more like a moderate…

Americans aren’t buying it…

Leftists‘ only hope is to stop Biden from participating in the three presidential debates to hide the fact Biden is in the early stages of dementia….

Leftists are so pathetic…

I think it was obvious to those paying attention to the sign that Joe Biden was in the early stages of dementia by fall of 2019.
At the September 2019 Democratic Presidential candidate debate one Biden’s debate opponents, Juan Castro, told Joe Biden, “Are you forgetting what you said two minutes ago?”
The clear implication that Juan Castro saw on that debate stage was a Joe Biden failing in short-term “working memory. ” Working memory is an essential element of Executive Function. So the early signs of dementia in Joe Biden were there 12 months ago.

Now it is clear Joe Biden is well in to moderate levels of Dementia and failing Executive Function. In 5 months to January presidential inauguration, it will be even worse. What is utterly amazing is the cynicism of the DNC to nominate such a candidate for President. Clearly the Democrats are banking on the unlikable Kamala Harris to take-over from a failing President Biden, with the inevitable constitutional crisis that will create if Joe Biden refuses to leave per the terms of the 25th Amendment, section 4. And Kamala Harris has said on the record she will stop fracking anyway she can.

The Democrats are perfectly willing to throw this country into a full blown Constitutional Crisis in order to defeat Trump. That’s not surprising as they are also obviously willing to let major US urban centers burn and be looted to try to defeat Trump.

China’s President Xi is counting on a dementia-ridden Joe Biden to lead to an indecisive US President to take aggression in the South China Sea and/or Taiwan. As such, there are clear signals that China is planning on invading Taiwan sometime in late January 2021 to take advantage of an indecisive US President Biden.

The Democrats were quite willing to throw the country into a constitutional crisis in order to beat Bush the Younger.

Let’s face it, the Democrats will do anything to gain power and always have been.

That 2000 Constitutional Crisis will be nothing compared to what they would be willing to do in January to stop Trump. The Pelosi Democratic Congressional Caucus will have an epic melt-down on January 6th, 2021 when they have to accept the Electoral College results affirming Trump’s win even if he doesn’t win the totally irrelevant popular vote

“Let’s face it, the Democrats will do anything to gain power”

That’s exactly right, and they will go to any lengths, legal or illegal, in their efforts. The radical Democrats have no morals. Biden didn’t hesitate to try to rig the 2016 presidential election in Democrats favor, and to try to undermine Trump after Trump won. illegal as hell. And Joe Biden was right in the middle of it.

So we have a criminal and an underminer of the U.S. Constituion running for president, and if he gets in there, he will resume doing what he did in the Obama administration by rigging future elections so only his side gets to rule.

Joe is a criminal and a traitor to his country. He should not be given power over anyone ever again. What he should get is an indictment from the Justice Department for his role in the attempted coup perpetrated by the Obama administration.

My mother suffered from vascular dementia before she died. My mother-in-law has alzheimers. Both of them took about a year to transition from being able to be left alone to not being left alone. If either walked out the front door there was no guarantee either could find their way home. I’m sure these transition intervals vary but there is simply no way to deny they don’t exist. And it is a certainty that Ol’ Joe is somewhere in that interval.

“What is utterly amazing is the cynicism of the DNC to nominate such a candidate for President.”

That *is* amazing.

Now the Democrats and their propagada organ, the Leftwing Media, are trying to carry Biden across the finish line before he deteriorates completely.

The debates are going to be a disaster for Biden. I don’t think any amount of media spin is going to help Biden there.

Biden learned from the best at how to say the complete opposite of what he really wants to do if it will convince someone to vote for him. Remember “If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor” and “this will bring down the cost of medical care”?If Biden were sincere, he would travel by bus instead of limo and jet. He can’t actually travel on his envisioned train because they don’t go to very many cities.

He’s just like Nancy Pelosi who violates a ban on using an inside salon. They are above the rules they make for the unwashed masses. In a socialist world every one is equal but some are more equal than others. That’s what the Democrats have to offer us – shared misery except for those that are more equal.

Paul von Hindenburg was 78 years old when he was elected a president of Germany in 1925. He paved the way for National Socialists to take power.
“Hindenburg on his part accommodated himself to the new situation and, in effect, became a warm supporter of Hitler, although making an occasional innocuous gesture that seemed to set him apart from the Führer and the Nazi Party. At the time of his death, Hindenburg was still a revered, though remote, national figure.” [Britannica]

You can’t be for the Green New Deal and also for fracking.
It’s either one or the other.

And if you are for the Green New Deal, then the combustion engine that burns fossil fuels…………..goes bye bye, along with corn ethanol.
Any person in the ag industry, especially crop farmers that are for Biden, are either not aware of this or they hate Trump even more than they do making a profit.

Green New Deal-corn ethanol: Good bye corn ethanol, Hello $2 corn prices again….$5 soybeans/supply gluts/ August 2019

We need natural gas to make fertilizers too.
Another secret about fossil fuels: Haber Bosch process-fertilizers feeding the planet using natural gas-doubling food production/crop yields. September 2019

Sorry I’m so late to the party. If you are reading this and want to more fully understand Biden, you need to research youtube clips of old newscast about Biden, like this one:

Just search using the keywords: news clips Biden, lying (or plagiarize)

Biden has told blatant lies and plagiarized others his entire career. The only thing worse than a demented Biden is the original Biden.

I fear the Democrats will destroy this country regardless of who is elected. They have lost control of their left-wing extremists.
