The outgoing boss of BP has revealed some of his daughter’s friends in Californiaare on antidepressants because of their worries over climate change.
…
He said: ‘I wish the young people today would get more involved in energy — actually getting involved, whether it’s renewables or not.
‘Because it’s the easiest job to throw rocks. It is just such fun. But you have to have some responsibility for these things and that’s not what everybody’s doing.’
Mr Dudley added that he hated seeing young people so anxious, and that his daughter told him people around her are on antidepressants.
…
Please, if you are on medication, consult your doctor before making any changes to your regime. Whatever your concerns about your current medication, the effects of uncontrolled withdrawal could be worse.
Having said that, there is substantial evidence of a link between anti-depressants, suicide, violence and homicide.

” there is substantial evidence of a link between anti-depressants, suicide, violence and homicide. ” More shocking news from the world of science. But the suicidal impulse is inherent in climate catastrophism and an absolute necessity as a lever on the rest of us.
Anti-depressant drug use will soar this time next year after Trump is re-elected. (side bar-George Will among the addicts.)
Woke Progressives seem to think that the more tantrums they throw the more they should get their way, be obeyed, handed control and put in charge of all things for our own good.
They cannot handle the rejection of their superiority.

People do not understand the flip side of anti-depressants. Your emotions are flattened out and you start dealing with your life with your logical brain instead of the emotional part. Our emotions are what make us who we are. So do you really need to compromise with a spouse if feeling no longer matter?
That is just one example. Say I’m depressed due to the propaganda that they teach in school (remember depression is an emotion). I start taking medication and am no longer depressed but my logical mind still has the propaganda imprinted and my inhibitors that would stop me from hurting a skeptic is out of the way. Why would I not become more extreme in my relations to “save the world”. We are in a very dangerous place historically right now.
I have a friend whose 2 daughters actually think he is evil due to teachers saying because he supports them with an oil and gas job that he is killing the world.
Reach out with love and compassion to those that have been misled. Happy new year everyone.

I have a suggestion. Send his daughter to North Korea for a reasonable period, say one year. Their GHG emissions likely rate in the lowest on the planet. Rural North Korea should be a wonderful place to breathe in life with little access to affordable reliable energy courtesy of fossil fuels. She can choose to remain after one year if that life style suits her, or invite her friends to join her for a “low carbon footprint” lifestyle. Should be a blast to see the result. We have a generation of indulged people in the West who are living in the very best of times, mostly free of war, starvation, etc. Perhaps being plunged into poverty and being told what to do, when to do, how to do, etc by a joyless controlling socialist/ communist government will be their future.
There is no doubt that antidepressants are wrongly prescribed by ignorant doctors – I could give many examples from 40 years in a medical school, but all fall into two categories: to do ‘something’ because they have neither skills nor time to get to the real problem, and ignorance of pharmacology and pharmacokinetics. At least half of the individuals who are given antidepressants for valid reasons fail to get adequate doses, and the notion of tapering at treatment termination seems too hard for the average quack (patients need to be told this at the outset).
There are valid reasons for taking antidepressants, and for some they can be literally life savers. (Teenage angst is not a valid reason.) Dissing antidepressants as some have in the above thread is not helpful.
I am struggling to open the source article due to browser issues, so may be incorrect, but believe the man in question actually said ‘daughter’s friends are on anti depressants’ and ‘daughter has questioned fossil fuels’.
I cannot see the line where he says ‘anti depressants BECAUSE of climate change’ and put it to you that this line was created by whoever wrote and/or edited the Daily Mail and as a result put it to you that this article is, well, Fake News.
Having said this I would also like to comment on the cultural acceptance of anti depressants. Personally I still mix with the sort of people who suggest that many of life’s problems can be solved by simply adding a teaspoon of cement to one’s morning coffee… and hardening the (cough) up!
I am not suggesting that mental health is not a problem – when the Black Dog comes to visit he can settle in very quickly. I openly admit to having dark periods of my own life filled with downward spiral. The point I am trying to make is that I managed to deal with my problems by identifying the core problems (and managing, eventually, to remove them) and by having a good social support network. What I didn’t do was attempt to mask the actual effects and carry on blissed.
My observations however is that culture is slowly beginning to not only normalise mental health, but almost actively encourage it. In other online persona I have been involved in fiction writing forums and the moderators, in an attempt to make the collective knowledge base of the forums easier to access, asked people to make posts listing their fields of experience and skills.
Now to me I was expecting this would be filled with such things as “my name is Donald and I am skilled at trolling on twitter”, or “I am Greta and I know a lot about million dollar racing yachts” and “Call me Craig and let me know if you want passive aggressive snark and/or engineering detail drafting (mechanical)”, but instead about half the posts being made were of people claiming to be experts in ‘suffering’ from various mental disorders.
Okay, maybe these people have been actively encouraged not to hide their condition, but the tone of the majority of these postings seemed to be actively bragging they had a diagnosed mental condition, it was something to be proud of and, ergo, they are now better than you.
If this is actually true it would seem that socially in some parts of the Western World it is now seen as desirable to have a condition and if you don’t you should change health care professionals until you find one who can give you one. With condition in hand you are now armed with every excuse you need. You are not really to blame; you have a mental health condition! Can’t deal with a problem? Get a new script!
Again, I wish to stress that I do not mockingly dismiss depression or similar issues. Instead I wish to point out that I live with a culture of respecting strength and that the strength to combat and defeat depression is something to be respected, encouraged and admired. Strength of personality is a credit. Reward that. Foster it if you feel members of your social circle are in need. Do not however encourage the suppression of problems through the use of mood enhancers. You may be taking anti-depressants because of your anxiety or drinking each night to hide the pain because your partner broke your heart, the point being that you still have anxiety and still have a broken heart and none of these are going to go away just because you close your metaphorical eyes really hard.
New liberal. Woke on Coke
I don’t doubt that we’ve scared these kids into depression, hopelessness and desperation. I also don’t doubt this is a problem almost entirely for the affluent and “educated” (that is, indoctrinated).
