Alarmists Propose Rebranding ‘Climate Change’ for Greater Shock Value

Climate Change, Climate Weirding, Climate Destruction, CLIMATE EMERGENCY!

And now, our new and improved….

From Breitbart

Climate change alarmists are pushing for a change in vocabulary to scare people into taking global warming more seriously, starting with terms like “global meltdown” and “climate collapse.”

Writing for AdAge this week, Aaron Hall argues that in order to get people to “take action” against climate change, “rebranding” is crucial, since people have gotten too used to the idea that climate is changing and need to be shocked into the notion that the world as we know it is ending.

Aaron steps up the rhetoric, up to eleven!

What he and his marketing team came up with was a series of much more frightening labels to stick on climate change in the hope of jolting people into meaningful engagement.

The terms “Global Meltdown” or “Global Melting,” for instance, deliver a more negative image than mere “Global Warming,” he contends. “The names signal that ice caps are melting, but also create a more visceral image in the mind — that real feeling of ‘melting’ when it’s too hot outside. A meltdown is a disastrous event that draws from the ultimate terror of a nuclear meltdown, an apt metaphor for global destruction.”

“Climate Collapse” and “Climate Chaos,” on the other hand, “instill a clear message or even a direct call to action,” Hall notes, adding that “there’s nothing neutral about collapse or chaos.”

To up the rhetoric even more, Hall proposes the weaponized term “Scorched Earth.”

Of course Mr Hall feels no shame.

Mr. Hall’s contention that it does not matter if what is said is true as long as it elicits the necessary response is reminiscent of similar assertions by leaders of the Extinction Rebellion (XR) movement.

Thomas Williams of Breitbart warns of the the opposite occurring.

While it is clearly true that “alarmist language works” in some cases, it is also true that people tend to resent being lied to and manipulated.

Like Aesop’s fable of the Boy Who Cried Wolf, climate alarmists may wake up one fine day to find that nobody believes them anymore.

The science is settled, except for the name. Instead of “climate chaos”, shouldn’t that be “weather chaos”?

That’s a good point. If the science is settled, why isn’t the label? Nobody is trying to rename geology, or physics, or biology, or astronomy, or any other established discipline.

To the perpetrators it is part of a war on the population as a means to consolidate global control by manipulative deceit. The climate psyop.
But to the targeted, baited and hooked population it is a war for survival on those who refuse to make the sacrifice that the war demands. (That the perpetrators tell them to do).
The perpetrators are the ability and the intention to frame the narrative so as to filter and distort our sense of our world – they do not speak to reason but to emotional identifications – ie fears and threats as well as hopes and ideals.
The unwitting victims are proxies in exchange for a sense of order set against fear of chaos, a sense of moral righteousness set against self-disgust and guilt; a sense of meaning set against a sense of meaningless confusion; a sense of community and solidarity set against a common hate; a sense of personal social status or freedom set against exclusion, rejection and vilification in work, social networks, funding or career; a fulfilling of vengeance on the oil and coal companies; a sense of security under scientific experts, a sense of empowerment under grievance made holy.

A climate of fear has been propagated towards a tipping point.
Dolphins do this to shoals of fish using vibrational resonances into streams of bubbles rising through and around the shoal. You’ve seen how it works on tv.

When you are tempted to laugh at it – remember this is not a bottom up movement – but a top down agenda with effectively unlimited funding and intergenerational persistence. Belief in something fearful can be more dangerous than a clear and present danger. Invoking apocalyptic fear as leverage may well bring it on. Not by CO2! But by the ‘defences’ we are induced to enact, and the diversion from our true peril.

The interesting thing here is that Skepticism/Climate Realism has never needed rebranding, or even any marketing really. It sells itself. But Global Warming has had to continually be rebranded, and marketed fiercely and continually, with not much success. I would fire their ad agency (or agencies) if I were them. There is just no excuse for that sort of unprofessional bungling.

Why did these marketing geniuses miss the obvious term “Incipient Climate Armageddon”?

It is the one term that reflects the CAGW alarmist view that we only have 1.5-11.5 years left to correct the global climate to what it should be . . . before the end of human civilization as we know it.

And no, I won’t be bothering to trademark/copyright that term . . . anyone can use it freely.

Oh, wait . . . I didn’t consider how few of those swayed by mass marketing do not know what “incipient” means . . . never mind.

Apocalypse has a deeper meaning of a Great Revealing.
To invested self-illusions this is experienced as fearful, conflicted and destructive.
Our prehistory has global record of events that were ‘different Suns’ or Ages, and under monotheistic and emerging natural philosophy, in which the physical world was in a sense desacralised to become external to our sense of Existence – this idea became the ‘end of THE World’,
Regardless any rational or ritual cultural expressions, the archetype operates them as defended self-illusion – set in fear, conflict and pain of loss.

Those who plunder the world and others for private agenda, consolidate to some systemic structure of power balance – out of the underlying power struggle for possession and control. As the attempt to maintain an off-balanced condition, the structure becomes increasingly unsustainable – because it is not founded in the heart of a shared purpose and condition. And so our illusions can no longer be protected against exposure and a ‘great revealing’ uncovers or restores a true foundation.

One of the signatures of the denied self is its projection onto others. And onto its world.
Fear of an event – given fuel – can bring it on.
Fear in that sense becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy – regardless the reality beneath the fear.

With Climate ‘armageddon’ being fuelled by vast corporate and financial networks and published and insinuated into every kind of media, educational, and regulatory information – as a LEVERAGE to give up sovereignty of will by giving power to the mongers of fear and THEIR plan of protection – which is simply the reconfiguring of global human society to their system of controls, they are invoking deep fear that is in our species – and which has been the ‘chaos’ over which order has operated legitimately as a containment of lawlessness. But the making of chaos as a means to dominate is the enactment of the Destroyer – not the protection.

The internet is a great way to kettle all the naysayers to a bubble where they can laugh in smug scientific superiority – but the only science being really engaged in by the Climate psyop is the application of the dark art and science of psychic-emotional deceit. Such that any actual science is framed in filters and distortions. Bearing in mind that we are not otherwise free of self-illusion in our science or in any other realm of human endeavour.
However, we ARE learning more about climate – and not least how much we don’t actually know. This opens up possibilities for profound revision to our models – which are stories set around math and equations that served who we were – but may not sere who we are uncovering and accepting ourselves to be.
In core terms a closed system approach tried to deny or downgrade a nested or embracing reality of active ongoing communication and support to light through ether, vacuum or curved space-time – all of which emphasise separate, disconnected things, forces, densities and outcomes. We are talking here not of a Universe – but of a conditioned mind – or rather a collective of segregating and mutually reinforcing beliefs and definitions.

November 30, 2019 3:54 pm

Actually, isn’t climate chaos the most scientifically truthful description of climate change?

Climate change IS chaos, isn’t it? Humans don’t make it this way — fluid-dynamic nature does. Stupid people are just trying to hijack a perfectly apt description of reality to further frame their sadly misguided fantasy.

Nancy, you might want to stay in California to help your own state’s deal with CA electricity headaches.

California’s Next Electricity Headache Is a Looming Shortage
David R. Baker

Bloomberg) — As if California doesn’t have enough problems with its electric service, now regulators warn the state may be short on power supplies by 2021 if utilities don’t start lining up new resources now.
In the hopes of heading off a shortfall, the California Public Utilities Commission has ordered the state’s electricity providers to secure 3.3 additional gigawatts of reserve supplies. That’s enough to power roughly 2.5 million homes. Half of it must be in place by 2021 and the rest by August 2023.

The move comes as California is already struggling to accommodate increasingly large amounts of solar power that regularly send electricity prices plunging below zero and force other generators offline so the region’s grid doesn’t overload. The state is also still reeling from a series of deliberate mass blackouts that utilities imposed last month to keep their power lines from sparking wildfires amid strong winds. And its largest power company, PG&E Corp., went bankrupt in January.

Now as natural gas-fired power plants retire, officials are warning the state could run short on electricity on hot evenings, when solar production fades and commuters get home and crank up their air conditioners. “We have fewer resources that can be quickly turned on that can meet those peaks,” utilities commission member Liane Randolph said Thursday before the panel approved the order to beef up reserves.

The 3.3 gigawatts that utilities must line up is in addition to a state rule requiring them to sign contracts for 15% more electricity than they expect to need. Some critics question the need for added supplies, particularly after the state went on a plant-building boom in the 2000s.

But California’s grid managers say the risk of a shortfall is real and could be as high as 4.7 gigawatts. Mark Rothleder, with the California Independent System Operator, said the 15% cushion is a holdover from the days before big solar and wind farms made the grid more volatile. Now it may need to be increased, he said.

“We’re not in that world anymore,” said Rothleder, the operator’s vice president of state regulatory affairs. “The complexity of the system and the resources we have now are much different.”

The state’s three major utilities, PG&E, Edison International and Sempra Energy, will be largely responsible for securing new supplies. The commission banned fossil fuels from being used at any new power generators built to meet the requirement — though it left the door open for expansions at existing ones.

PG&E said in an emailed statement that it was pleased the commission didn’t adopt an earlier proposal to require 4 gigawatts of additional resources. Edison similarly said it was “supportive.” Sempra didn’t immediately respond with comment.

Extending Deadlines

The pending plant closures are being hastened by a 2020 deadline requiring California’s coastal generators to stop using aging seawater-cooling systems. Some gas-fired power plants have said they’ll simply close instead of installing costly new cooling systems. So the commission on Thursday also asked California water regulators to extend the deadline for five plants.

The Sierra Club, meanwhile, called on regulators to turn away from fossil fuels altogether, saying their decision Thursday “sets California back on its progress toward a clean energy future.”

The move to push back the deadline also faces opposition from neighboring towns. Redondo Beach Mayor Bill Brand, whose city is home to one of the plants in line for an extension, told the commission it wasn’t necessary, since California utilities already have plenty of electricity reserves.

“It’s just piling on to that reserve margin,” Brand said.

I appreciate your comment. Thankyou.

Once a wish is given priority over true relation, the lie and the father of it are very productive – because a lie must then cover its tracks for its own ‘sustainability’ of support and allegiance.

I notice that the deliberate manufacture of lies to operate ‘cover story’ of masking agenda is worked as a form of mind-capture or social engineering by the studying of human hope, shame and fear for the purpose of exploiting it for such masked or private agenda of what at root is a wishful or fantasy substitution for genuine relational appreciation.

This can involve ‘astroturfing’ as an imitation of a living movement, so as to operate through many seemingly different ‘fronting identities’ and many seemingly independent articles or communications, to weave the lie into any and every facet of truth – so as to effectively capture the genuine concerns for all that support life – and run it as a proxy for a destructive plunder under cover of a grim fairy story.
A story that has a lot in common with an identity in sin of existential guilt, fear of damnation, and enacting sacrificial appeasements in hope to forfend or mitigate pain of loss, or win favour and gain power under the sense of righteousness taken from sacrifice as the right to exact it of others.

Part of the deceit that slipped in with scientific thinking was the belief that it was free of and proof against deceit. This operates a cover story for pursuing private agenda at public expense that cant be criticised without seeming to ‘self-invalidate’ as anti-science or an absurd or heretical and dangerous purveyor of ‘fairy stories’.

My sense of the current state of world affairs is of a ‘crash course’ in identifying and undoing deceit of self-illusion, which by nature is self-concealing and attacking itself in everyone ELSE. This offers healing to both science and religion as serving and sustaining life. But consensual science and organised religion are self-contradictions. Running on self-contradiction or doublethink can only split the mind – that then knows not what it does – because it is only a ‘split off’ fragment of a denied wholeness that has lost relational awareness of its contextual support and belonging to a private and fearfully defended ‘self’.

Reply to  Brian Steere
December 4, 2019 12:48 pm

The narrative identity of a human guilted climate catastrophe has the same archetypal patterning as the ‘Old Religion’ of sacrifice under a god of terror. But I relate it to the mind of deceit in the development of human culture and consciousness – not merely weaponised climate fear.

The ‘apocalyptic’ fear that rises throughout our history from trauma that remains unhealed in our species is a collective association of sin, guilt and damnation – excepting that by ritually proscribed behaviours, forfending total loss or some moral mitigation might be earned or offset by ‘good works’ or carbon credits – so as to perhaps be saved from extinction or worse.

I could go on indefinitely in many directions around the underlying ‘pattern’ of a split off sense of self seeking to hide or mask the split by projecting it ‘away from self to others and world’ – and God. And by defending against it OUTSIDE – keep it hidden within.

Thus War on – ‘whatever’ – always works to DO the thing it presents as defending or protecting from. I attempt to call attention to something of the nature of our predicament in whatever way, language or subject, because we can never solve the problem where it isn’t. However we are all trained or adapted a self and world that easily and quickly disowns or sidelines it own part – perhaps by being the first to rush in with diversionary accusation or ‘answer’.

So that was my response out of the hat.
You may have to be more specific in your question if I didn’t make the paragraph clearer. But I am willing to respond.
