Michael Mann Demands All Universities Declare a Climate Emergency

h/t Dr. Willie Soon; According to “Nobel prize co-winner” Michael Mann and other authors, universities should be ranked and staff should be promoted based on how strongly they support climate action.

Why universities need to declare an ecological and climate emergency

Universities have a responsibility to prepare students for an uncertain future, 11 scholars from around the world argue

Through the voices of Greta Thunberg, the School Strikes for Climate and the Fridays For Future, youth everywhere are loud and clear in calling for societies to change. Placards at protests around the world read: “Why should anyone study for a future when no one is doing enough to save our future?”; “Climate change is worse than homework”; “If you don’t act like adults, we will”; and “The climate is changing, why aren’t we?”.

Universities have a particular role to play when it comes to acting for the planet. As large institutions, universities’ carbon and environmental footprints are significant, and this alone should be a strong enough incentive to act. But, universities also have the responsibility to be honest with their students and prepare them for a changing climate because whatever jobs they seek after graduation will be fundamentally reshaped by an increasingly variable climate and frequent and unprecedented climate extremes.

Mainstreaming ecological and climate action across all disciplines. Universities would ensure that all students, regardless of the discipline and level of study, understand specific climate impacts and possible remedial action in their line of work.

This would be reflected in curricula, university rankings, graduate attributes, as well as in staff performance measurements, including those of high executives.

Interdisciplinary teaching and research activities on global environmental challenges, resilience and solutions would be prioritised and invested in. Collective action, community engagement, partnerships, sharing best practices, and open platforms for innovation would be promoted.

The academics who authored this demand are from the following universities;

Jean S. Renouf Southern Cross University
Michael E. Mann Penn State Earth System Science Center
John Cook George Mason University
Christopher Wright University of Sydney
Will Steffen Australian National University
Patrick Nunn University of the Sunshine Coast
Pauline Dube University of Botswana
Jean Jouzel Atomic Energy Commission in France
Stephan Lewandowsky University of Bristol
Anne Poelina University of Notre Dame Australia
Katherine Richardson University of Copenhagen

It is a little disappointing to see Australia so well represented in a demand that promotion opportunities and university rankings be governed by climate zeal rather than academic excellence.

Perhaps the Peter Ridd case is the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the apparent ongoing attack on academic freedom in Australian institutions.

If you have any children or grandchildren considering higher education, I suggest you think very carefully about this before sending your kid to an Australian university, or any of the universities on the list.

This egomaniac caused a ‘climate emergency’ by publishing error-filled papers of pseudoscience, thus there is an emergency — an emergency to get scientific investigations of the natural phenomena of weather and climate back to a proper scientific footing.
This M.Mann a modern day shaman, has debased science ensuring that studies in climate effects are politicized and dragged into the realm of unreality. This scientific emergency needs to be corrected, and quickly.

Don’t forget to install the cameras in the lecture halls and classrooms, so everyone can claim their brownie points and gold stars.

In their totalitarian future, the cameras are not there for the true believers. The cameras are there for the potential Winston Smiths!

Be a shame if they hooked those cameras up to a computer network and could separate the believers from the skeptics. Be a real shame if such a system already existed.

As a counter strike federal and state funding should be withheld by any institution following any of these proposed metrics.

Oh Dear! The Thought Police are on the march again. 👎Although this lot are a bit late. This has been going on in the universities for a long time. Peter Ridd is just the tip of the iceberg.

There are displays at German camp memorials that describe how ordinary German citizens and academicians who did not sign the pledge were the first occupants.

Exceptions will be made for elitist families that are part of the con game but understand deadlines are made to be broken. Make your inquiries through the athletic department or climate emergency ruling council.

Bonus! You will also know how to weave baskets and do macrame, learn the differences between 1,000 genders (Love is a Many-Genedered Thing), and the ins and outs of living in Mom’s basement. You will also learn what “debt” is, but not too much (boring!).

I don’t understand why they didn’t just leave Cook out he isn’t qualified period. He is in the same boat as Mosher and they need to go spend the couple of years getting the degree.

University rankings are a misrepresentation of quality. Instead they are a proxy for to wealth and early establishment. Several of the ranking outfits whose sole motivation is to sell worthless information to a misguided public already have a “Green” ranking metric. What some institutions do to game the system rivals the manipulation of the surface temperature datasets.

Perhaps Mann and his warmists colleagues are trying to stimulate drastic climate action soon due to their fear that the forthcoming low solar activity may put them out of business before they can achieve their goal of global control of all energy.

Climate alarmism is wrong because it is based on the ‘climate models’ being correct about the future. Theses models are not correct! The underpinning of the climate models are based on the unverified suppositions made by a chemist-cum-physist Svante Arrhenius, and his ideas about the influence of CO2 and carbonic acid in the atmosphere.
He was wrong then, the models are wrong now.
Thus there is no ‘climate emergency’!

Climate models are wrong because they are based on alarmist notions.
Among other reasons.
Once one understands that these are people in love with their own ideas and who love to hear themselves talk, it becomes clearer how it is they can be so inept at anything resembling their job description or field of inquiry.
Look for them to become increasingly irrational, strident, dogmatic and outspoken as the ideas they propound diverge ever more sharply from reality.

So, at Penn State, …. inclusion of “climate impacts and possible remedial actions” will become mandatory “inclusions” in over 400 different Degree Programs iffen Mikey Mann has his say.

I agree with Mr. Mann, et al. Universities should be ranked on their stance on this matter and researchers promoted on their support. My ranking would not be a positive statement.

He was interviewed (actually participated in a love fest) on Sean Carroll’s Mindscape podcast . There he touted his hockey stick as science and declared that now, because of better techniques the hockey stick is good for 100,000 years. He also stated as fact that the planet will warm at least 3 C at 560 ppm.
He’s a true believer. Shout out to Sean Carroll for asking zero challenging questions.

Mann needs to get his silly mouth sewn shut.

I see no university I know of on that list of blithering idiot institutions. Not an alumna, don’t really give a hoot about them. He’s an idiot with an ego the size of a house and they fall right in line behind him.

Eric, Lewandowski and Cook (others?) presently at UK and US universities are also Ozzies. Almost the whole group are. This may well be because of the imminent freeing-up of academics that the Peter Ridd case precedent will engender. A lot of profs are clammed up already and they don’t want them turned loose. Control of academic thought is unequivocally the motive.

Even trolls are shocked into silence on this thread. This is a good opportunity for those who may be of goodwill to show up here and voice their outrage over this. If they don’t then they have given us their measure! This kind of totalitarian stuff is a big part of the resistance of sceptics. Why can’t we let science and nature advise us on Global Warming and CO2 without the need for coercion. It is high time to create new, free-enquiry universities of high standards, indeed, for the best future for our children.

Although it was properly put between quote marks in the first sentence, let’s remove any possible chance that readers might think that Michael Mann, the fraudster, was actually ever a co-winner (or participating party thereof) of a Nobel Peace Prize.

Here is a link to a nice summary of Mann’s false claim, that he and the IPCC were forced to admit was bogus:
