Lately, some op-eds have been questioning whether Greta Thunberg is simply a mindless puppet.

The Sun featured this GQ cover, and the parallel to the famous end scene of “Invasion of the Body Snatchers” immediately jumped out at me.
In the Sun article they say:

I see the next Stephen King novel: “Greta”, where a sinister, possessed young woman merely twitches her nose and entire oil companies go out of business.
I think Greta is our strongest ally. When people realize how much they will have to give up to “save the planet” they are likely to start asking the questions the mainstream media fails to ask.

When you point a finger at someone, 4 others are pointing back at you.
If she truly wanted to make the point, she should be pointing at herself indicating “Look at how I am changing the way I live to make a difference” rather than being accusatory in nature.
Living your life as an example to others goes a lot farther than hypocrisy and blame
In some cultures, pointing is considered a real threat – those nations where authoritarian governments pointed out the next… I pointed at a woman from Viet Nam once, and one could hear and see the combination of hatred, and abject fear through her screams. Never again.

The Nobel is almost a given. It matches perfectly the long list of previous recipients. They are all based on hope and symbolism rather than action and deeds. Take Obama. Take Yasser Arafat. Even Malala; her fame was being shot. I suppose the list of people who have actually done something to ensure peace is rather short.

OT. Himalayan mountains in past centuries were warmer !
We often here that the Himalayas glaciers melting is unprecedented.
However high in Himalayas at altitude at over 5,000 meters above sea level Roopkund Lake was a frozen grave scattered skeletal remains of several hundred individuals of unknown origin.
Ice melting revealed even skeletal remains floating in the water and lying around the lake’s edges. One group of skeletons is from the 7th–10th centuries AD.
It is hard to imagine that without a much warmer climate, at the time when Vikings were invading England that people would be climbing high up in Himalayas and finding their death in a ‘not so frozen’ lake.
