  1. It is an atrocity if that was on Fox. It looks more like something MSNBC or the Grauniad would pull.

      • CNN use to be Centrist as were the Alphabet News rooms. Seems they did their Column Left harch! When George W won the Primary and they began their steady “Gravitas” drum beat. It became clearly obvious that all the news rooms conducted a morning conference call back then in order to synch their SPIN narrative. Did George Bush have the Gravitas to be President?

They never stopped to think that a word not normally delivered in the every day lexicon and suddenly appearing on every news channel in the country might appear just slightly suspicious because they were so caught up in their own left moving bubble.

If you watch how these newscasters (not to be confused with prime time opinion hosts) run far left after leaving Fox it should not come as a shock that their internal DNA, the instincts of those who make up the organization desperately wants to join the pack. The want so much to belong. To be one of the cool kids.

      • FOX has been heading in a different direction since their leadership change, I don’t think it’s politically motivated either but driven by the all mighty dollar. More and more of their articles are full of words that garner attention but lacking in actual content. Not only that they are recycling stories by changing the headlines and putting them back “on top” of the recent news page. I suspect these are stories that got a lot of clicks the first go around.

    • On an Unprecedented note: Concord Ca. has just experienced unprecedented cold today. Until today it has never been colder than 60F during the month of May. Today it was colder than it has ever been since record keeping began…unprecedented!!!

      • Well, okay, Bryan A, but what WAS the temperature????? (Gotta be specific!) Do those news readers know that the snowpack in the mountains is still more than 5 feet in depth??

My front steps thermometer said 48F yesterday, but I’m in the upper Midwest and we’re having the same chilly, wet spring we had last year.

      • Climate change strikes again! Global warming will cause the cooling-don’t you get it? (sarc)

    • Hi Tom, I’m putting this link up because I want people to see it, we obviously have serious problems with our Govs and their insane ideas and imaginings, sometimes we can laugh but sometimes we see something truly disturbing…well here is the latest in the T. Robinson story…and I found it very disturbing indeed. Pass it on. You wont hear about it in your ms-media.

    • first spotted on science alert about 4 days ago..
i take their name to be a pun
be alert theres little science on their pages
      always full of antiskeptic commentary

    • Tom Halla: I go to fox news website everyday. Ever since Murdoch handed operations over to his kids (and Ailes ousted), there’ll be one or two climate-scare articles a week, no balance for skeptics. The comments indicate the audience knows better, but i suspect Murdoch’s kids have spent many years with all the right people in Manhattan, D.C., London etc., and they seem to fear not being invited to the best parties if fox news covers skeptics. Whatever the reason, on the climate scene fox is the same as the rest of the media. Charles Krauthammer is no longer around to tell them they are losing their niche audience (1/2 of the country).

      • Liberals are stupid and never learn. The Brothers Murdoch should see how well the leftward drift worked for CNN.

  2. Expect Car bon Pollution to be soon replaced by Plastic Pollution.

Plus of course all of the other “”Nasties”” that they can dream up by then

    MJE VK5ELL

    • Talking about plastic pollution – can somebody explain how come the recent expedition to the 10 km depth of the Mariana Trench (is that the name of it?) found plastic bags and lolly wrappers there? I thought it always floated. If it all ends up on the bottom of the sea that soon (40 years since they began to manufacture the stuff), there can be no cause for alarm. Or perhaps plastic manufacturers could be persuaded to make it so heavy that it will sink?

      • Various sea life attaches itself to anything that floats, making it heavier. Eventually it sinks.

        • Well, if the density of plastic can vary, should we not then make it mandatory to make the stuff so dense that it will sink in salt water? Our Greenies will be happy – problem solved. And it would make sense. Then we can collect all that heavy plastic and dump it over the Mariana Trench – the ultimate, perfect rubbish tip.

    • they prepared for this moment for decades.
a generation of power lusting elitists spent an
untold effort dominating the narrative at universities down to elementary school.
compromising and dictating all the talking points to the media.
      subverting the youth
debilitating economies – embezzling your productivity.
they thought they had the machine ready, unstoppable – like moloch – ready to roll.
they are too old to try it again. they will push as hard as they can
      this was their big shot.
if it fails, they die without conquest.
      humanity escapes their grasp.
they’ll spend their last dime on it.
they can’t take anything with them when they die.
failure is not an acceptable outcome
      only your submission is.
oh, no- they won’t stop or even slow down
this is the last chance to push it over the edge.
every tool at their disposal – is also disposable.
they’ll burn their faithful, eat their young.
they’re going to rule the world or die trying.
there is no graceful failure mode here.
they get it all or they destroy it if they can.
it has nothing at all to do with CO2

    • “May” allows anything.
And pigs “may” sprout wings and fly.
      And similar nonsense.

      • T-shirt:

        “With enough thrust,”
(porcine caricature of Nancy Pelosi with a rocket up the donkey)
        “Pigs fly just fine.”

      • Pigs can only fly in an anthropologically CO2 enriched, thick atmosphere, after eating genetically modified gain covered in glyphosate and plastic micro-particles.

If it were not for humans they’d never leave the ground.

        🙂

      • “The time has come”, the Walrus said,
        “To talk of many things:
Of shoes – and ships – and sealing wax –
        Of cabbages – and kings-
And why the sea is boiling hot –
        And whether pigs have wings.”
“But wait a bit,” the Oysters cried,
        “Before we have our chat;
For some of us are out of breath,
And all of us are fat!”

        • You know that I care
          What happens to you
And I know that you care
          For me too
          So I don’t feel alone
Or the weight of the stone
Now that I’ve found somewhere safe
          To bury my bone
And any fool knows a dog needs a home
A shelter from pigs on the wing.

  3. “They” are becoming desperate. The mantra, that if you tell a big enough lie for long enough people will believe you, doesn’t seem to be working.

It’s dispiriting to see that almost all politicians give lip service to CAGW. Things are changing though. In Germany the AfD is directly basing its campaign on countering CAGW hysteria. link That, and the election in Australia the other day, give me hope that the tide may be turning.

    • They got most media, but not all. It was different in the Soviet Union, and the Third Reich. But they are fighting for a total control.

People are already afraid to be politically incorrect – that’s why we have so many incorrect polls – Trump vs Hillary, or Australia last Saturday. They lie to pollsters, and pollsters are not ready for it. Could we use these results to calculate how much people fear the Progressives?

    • It was an easy formula just keep hammering those proposing the change which voters and parts of the economy will be adversely effected and by how much? Those people have the right to know and cast their vote accordingly.

  4. This is a study of the effect of reduced oxygen on cephalopods. The connection to climate change is a bit tenuous.

    • Frederick, the inclusion of a Climate Change connection, no matter now tenuous was an absolute requirement to get any funding for this study. Throwing in a mention of ocean plastic pollution is
just gravy. I think they may have missed an opportunity to include the other boogeyman, ocean acidification…

  5. I’m hungry, because of climate change.

I’m tired, because of climate change.

My right ear itches, because of climate change.

The sun is shining, because of climate change.

I smell bacon, because of climate change.

You name it, … climate change.

Climate change — the all encompassing reason for everything.

No need to think, no need to deeply analyze, no need to question. Just say it — anywhere, anytime, for any reason. Say it with me now, .. climate change. … Say it again, … this time with feeling — CLIMATE CHANGE.

    Sing it, dread it, obsess on it, shout it from the rooftop — C L I M A T E …. C H A N G E !!

There, now didn’t that feel good?

    • Even my children don’t think my climate change / global warming jokes are funny any more. It’s more passe than Game of Thrones.

      • i havent watched any of it. but isnt the premise that the ice is advancing and the planets in strife?
funny they dont twig that cold is far worse than warmer, in real life too

        • Yes, but ozspeaksup, they won’t figure that out until there is no heat (natgas is BAD!) and no way to cook (natgas is BAD!) and the lights don’t work (nukeplants is BAD!).

Having been through a winter that started Nov. 19, with an ice/slop storm that shut off power to my entire county, I’m looking forward to that day. The only thing that kept me going was being able to heat/cook on my gas stove, even though the striker didn’t work (no power). I could light the stovetop with a kitchen match. I almost dug Grandma’s oil lamps out of storage, but I held off for a bit.

    • Climate change or “homophobia”. The two great catch-all excuses for personal failure.

  6. With the current level of alarmism coming out of Propaganda Arm of US Democrats, aka NYTimes, CNN, and the major networks ABC, NBC, CBS…
(UK has theirs in the BBC, Gruniad. Aussies have theirs in the SMH, ABC)

I can only imagine what Level 12 will be when Level 11 ‘s failure become clear.

Because you see with Progressives/Socialists, they never admit their own fundamental failures of policy, of the policy itself. They always put their failures as due to “bad actors”, “uneducated deplorables,” or “the People were not intelligent enough to see the wisdom of such-and-such policy”, etc… President Obama was well noted for this policy failure attribution transferal. Hillary of course famous for this in blaming everyone besides herself for her election defeat.

And they always see the solution to that as simply they needed ever more dollars to sell their policy. It is always ever more messaging. More propaganda is the answer.
Because the last thing they can allow to happen is an admission of the fundamental failure of the underlying policy.

    So coming up…. Level 12 in 2020.

    Get your popcorn ready.

    • The problem they have is that whenever “climate change” is an issue in an election, the party espousing it gets destroyed. I heard recently that all these recent climate marches are a popular movement. They are nothing of the kind -just a bunch of students, ecofascists and amplification by the MSM. The REAL popular movement is to oppose this crap, especially when our private-jet flying “elites” try to push the costs of their lunacy on to us. The Yellow Vest riots started as a fight back against a “carbon tax”, so the chances of the globalist loonies forcing normals to give up the benefits of modern, fossil-fueled life are zero. That is why they are so hysterical. hj

    • With those 8 arms, they must be doing a lot of what my mom said would make me go blind if I kept doing it

      • Hmmm.. Interesting point to ponder, Bryan. Chicken or the egg? Blind, so nothing else to do or doing too much so… blind?

Bet the researchers didn’t test the subject octopi both ways.

Octopus: “Turn that @#$! camera off! I’m ‘busy’ here.”

        • “Can I at least do it until I need tentacles?”
There, I fixed it for you.

    • Is that where their screeching and caterwauling punches a hole in the fabric of Space-Time?

I’m thinking their screeching will be like approaching an event horizon.
To themselves they seem perfectly normal, but to everyone else watching from a distance, they get stretched out to ever deeper shades of Red th closer to the singularity they get until.

  7. I’m just curious … is this “study” now part of the scientific “consensus” that global warming is killing us all … killing everything on the planet? All because we heat out homes with Nat. Gas ?

  8. Okay, sounds sirius (serious). For a start, to what degree was the oxygen concentration lowered and what were the concentrations of other gasses? In various habitats, how about three dimensional maps of O2 and CO2 concentrations as a function (not functionality) of depth and temperature, averaged over a period of time, without regard to currents. There are some who think there were times when CO2 concentrations were around 1,000 ppm. What about that situation?

  9. We must remember that climate change negatively affects everything in a negative way. Always. It’s the law.

  10. The original working title for the Beatles’ movie “Help!” was
    “Eight Arms to Hold You”.

This was before Ian Fleming’s 1966 Bond novel “Octopussy”.

The marketing teams of the Climate Change/Carbon capture movement
should come up with a short, punchy catch phrase evocative of their
    cherished beliefs and political aspirations.

    NAH!

    • Global Warming
      Global Weirding
      Climate Change
      Climate Cancer
      Global Climate Disruption
      Global Climate Hypocondria

      There…Fixed it

  11. The signs are their attempts to ‘panic the heard ‘ may result in the exact opposite effect to the one they want , now that would be ironic.

  12. These claims make you wonder how any animal ,as a species, managed to last through tens of millions of years , over which there have been be far more dramatic changes to the environment, including ice ages , they we have ever or will see.
Of course the irony is that those how make these ‘doom’ stories are often the same ones that claim that in the past the climate did not change from its ideal state and that is how these animals lasted so long, which makes they ‘climate change deniers’

  13. Why don’t they make 10 scary and make ten be the top scare and make that a little scarier?

  14. Even if temperatures dont do as expected, they have the long planned for backup scare, ocean acidification, which is even worse junk science than CO2 doom

    • Mark, the beauty of ocean acidification is that ‘acid’ sounds dangerous and scary and most people don’t understand chemistry at all. The imagery of anything and every thing dissolving in the ocean does seem frightening.

People understand temperature and just about everyone pays attention to the daily temperature forecasts. Years of “We’re All Gonna Fry!” and nothing in particular happening has relegated runaway global warming to “yeah, sure, whatever” status among all but the most fervent CAGW believers and some of them are slowly falling by the wayside.

I would say your guess at “Ocean Acidification!” would be a pretty safe bet except that all the rubbish papers being put out that tie everything to Climate Change/Global Warming will have a much harder time tying their conclusions to Ocean Acidification. Try tying decreased harvests in Iowa or Nebraska to ocean acidification. It would be tough to do. Grants would dry up for too many researchers because they can’t tie their work to the new scare.

So my bet is that the new horse to ride will be “Global Warming causes Global Cooling and we will all freeze to death from Global Warming if we don’t stop using fossil fuels, raise taxes, embrace veganism, and form a One World government.”

  15. I would just note, here in Switzerland, the first three months of the year had record-high amounts of snow, as even acknowledged by the national Swiss Meteo office, which loves to parrot the usual “global warming” and “end of snow” nonsense. And now they are also about to confirm that THIS month of May, which should normally grace us with mild Spring weather, is going to be more than THREE degrees Celsius below the 30-year average. Even those who love colder climates are getting fed up with this nonexistent Spring. What utter tripe.

    • Central Wyoming: by Thursday AM (23 May) we are expected to have accumulated some 12 centimetres of fluffy, white “global warming”. We should be in the process of planting our gardens, enjoying the warm Spring-time weather, getting ready for our annual Memorial Day (commemorates our fallen) celebrations, and instead, we’re shoveling snow.

I’m going to join Minnesotans for Global Warming (time to re-hear “I’m a Denier” — — one of their very best!) and hope that someday it might actually happen!

      Vlad

  16. Today’s story from the BEEB is that sea levels MAY rise by double the amount, 2 metres instead of 1 metre, by the end of the century IF global temperatures go up by the maximum forecast.
Apparently we must put CO2 levels into reverse, i.e. back to the little ice age.
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-48337629

Meanwhile we have been enjoying a high pressure system with very little wind and electricity generation well below 2 GW for the past 10 days. So if we are to go fossil free by 2025, then we need to multiply the number of windmills by a factor of 10 to ensure we have a reliable supply of electricity for light, heat, cooking, transport and industry. How much CO2 will we need to make these windmills. And the batteries for backup.

  17. It all reminds me of one of the Goon shows stories.

Certainment. Gentlemen, these boot-explosions are caused by a weakening in Britain’s deposits of Scradje.

Certainment-ment. Scradje is a substance found beneath the Earth’s surface. This Scradje radiates upwards, keeping level with the Gulf-stream and keeps the pressure on the Earth’s surface at an even level. Thus preventing boots from exploding. Unfortunately, Britain’s Scradje deposits are rapidly losing their potency. With the results that have now become apparent.

Good evening. I’m speaking to you about these boot-explosions. We, the government are doing all in our power to rectify this grave Scradje-deficiency which apparently exists. Until then, the British public must take the following precautions. To prevent yourselves exploding, remove your boots, reverse the buttons on your socks and walk backwards, holding a gas-stove above your head. I do hope this is only a temporary measure. Good night.

    • Just … wow! First of all this was published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Science (PNAS) which has become notorious for ‘pal review’. And it describes “a structured expert judgement study”, that is to say a bunch of ‘climate experts’ gave their opinion. It’s not even based on bad computer models. It is filtered through what ‘experts’ think it all means. What a rickety house of cards.
As usual, the findings are filtered through advocacy groups (BBC) which only tell you what the upper bound extremes are. If you look in the abstract, the 2°C projection gives a median sea-level rise of just about current levels (~3.3mm/yr). So why isn’t the headline “Scientists project that nothing much may change due to climate change”? [We know why.\

  18. Does no-one care about the unnecessary animal experimentation? The creatures did not all recover their sight completely. Greenies are usually the first to complain about this sort of activity.
