How a climate change play got Bolt and Breitbart News hot under the collar

Playwright David Finnigan has a slew of conservative commentators to thank for reshaping his new play Kill Climate Deniers.

The provocative play centres on a militant cell of eco-activists who take the audience hostage during a concert at Parliament House. Led by charismatic spokeswoman Catch, they demand Australia immediately cease all carbon emissions and coal exports – or they’ll start executing their 1700 hostages. The embattled Environment Minister has no choice but to pick up a gun and stand up for her ideals.
Such was the controversy around the play’s performance in the nation’s capital a few years back it had to be cancelled.
“It completely blew up,” recalls Finnigan. “I was getting messages from Americans in Kansas and Idaho who had seen his criticism through Fox TV so we had to cancel moving ahead. There was too much risk – the Abbott government had just introduced new legislation around anti-terrorism and we thought it was too risky – we didn’t want to reignite a culture war,” he said.

“It’s really only politicians and some members of the media who deny climate change these days … this is a way to keep the climate change conversation going in an imaginitive and fictional way – it asks the audience to think about what sort of world they want to be living in 30 years from now,” he says.

What can I say? The kind of people who think a climate video which features exploding schoolchildren is funny likely also have no problem seeing the “provocative” side of a fantasy gun hostage situation – as long as the fictional threat of violence is aimed at their political opponents.
The following is a short mock news video produced by “Kill Climate Deniers” author David Finnigan, which fantasises about the aftermath of real terrorists inspired by his script attacking Australia’s parliament and taking hostages.

Amazingly it completely eludes them how they equate themselves with terrorists like ISIS –
All terrorists believe their way is the only way.
All terrorists think they are right and the rest are ignorant heretics.
All terrorists think they are superior to others who deserve to die for being “non-believers”.
If I was just a bit less busy I would have taken their “play” and switched the roles – the terrorists wold have been “climate skeptics” and the victims would be the eco warriors.

Well I for one don’t know any “climate deniers” or any “climate change deniers”.

A pretty standard operating procedure among the SJWs these days is to publicly say something sufficiently inflammatory about a selected group of people such that some of them, or indeed anyone, then makes some intemperate replies or threats.
With that in hand, you then claim to be oppressed and start a Patreon or Go-fund-me account to start collecting money from individuals, “charities”, and some corporations with advertising budgets feeling the need to virtue-signal. It works like an absolute charm for the Anita Sarkesian types, and often also seems to open the institutional public funding spigot.

So, I’m guessing he thinks the rest of us out her in real world land don’t have a position on the CAGW fantasy? Does he even know we exist? Does he even know that real people exist outside the inner city latte and “avant guard” theatre-going set? Nah, probably not.
No, it’s about what kind of world I want to live in NOW! I don’t want censorship, so I think tthese idiots should get to put on their play, but I don’t want to live in a world where people are stupid enough to think this is rational discourse.

Isn’t it strange? All the media/politicians always warning everyone to DON’T HATE (nanny culture), but this kind of thing is perfectly appropriate. Just shows their psychosis in wide-open display. LOL
When will the climate warriors find time to kill the deniers when they are so busy trying to find ways to kill people by denying them access to cheap energy?
I wonder what the climate believers who support this sort of play would have to say about the fact that one of the major reasons I disbelieve is that I ran it through the digital filter used in a cruise missile which gives a very different picture of normal climate progression to the one that climate scientists get.
As a side benefit it means that I could readily build my own far better cruise missile than your average conformist left wing jerk who swallows the garbage whole from the numerous but limited ability climate scientist flock.
Freedom of speech is fine up to a point but this is a clear cut threat to those who do not believe. Many of those I know who do not believe climate scientists come from military design environment so threats like this are not a good idea.
More so we all we are asking is that instead of being told that climate scientists are superior to god and must be believed without question we want the data to be quality assessed like proper science or engineering by an external quality control group with the power to demand access to all data and background information.

I think he’s say that politicians aren’t doing enough. Therefore they don’t believe just how devastating Global Warming is, therefore they are deniers. It’s a leap of logic to be sure.
So. Given the past week of devastation Hollywood liberals can threaten and even blow up people in their movies over political differences and get away with it because they hide behind their free speech mantra, and their weird notion that they know best because…”Hollywood”. Maybe now they can see their current blinged-up 4 fingers pointing back at them while they point a finger at me. Yes, me. Conservative. Gun owner. Patriot.
These are obvious and straight death threats, which is I think could be prosecuted as a crime…
Climate science is the first science in history which has ever needed to eliminate people with a different point of view. This all alone should raise warnings in all sane people’s heads about the true nature of the climate agenda. We haven’t seen such extreme positions since the Nazis rose to power in the 1930’s. It would be best to treat the problem at the root, before it’s too late, this time. But the population is surprisingly indifferent towards this movement. Doesn’t “save the planet” sound like a good idea? But the hell is paved with good intentions.
Well, if they want to kill me because of my opinions about climate change, I’m not afraid. I’m ready to die.
It will not change my point of view, which is that CO2 greenhouse warming won’t be a threat for the planet for at least the next 200 years.
The sea level rise between the end of the last ice age, and the start of the current inter glacial was going at an average rate of 100mm per year, triple the current rate (+123 meters in ~1250 years). The polar bears and all other animal species as we know of survived, with the exception of mammoths which went extinct because of over hunting by humans.

Art is full of atrocities, smears, insult, nonsense, satire, etc. All is permitted, and all is forgiven if it is entertaining.
The biggest crime in art is to be boring. Which you always are, when preaching and lecturing.
My bet this will just be boring.
Just don’t turn your back on them for even a few seconds. okay?
They can’t be trusted. That much is clear. Threatening to kill enough people to populate a small town in my state? That will get you arrested, charged with terrorism, and if you’re still alive (meaning no self-sacrifice while in jail) when you’re sentenced. you might be able to get Charlie Manson’s cell in the state prison.
They will act out these fantasies in fiction until they work themselves up enough to act them out for real.
Or at least inspire others to.
Any means necessary, remember, and their higher morality is saving the planet.
funny, I don’t think the lesson I take away from this is the one they anticipated. What I see is that the left is becoming even more radicalized every day and I need to stock up on guns and ammo so with it hits the fan I can do my duty and defend the ideals that my country was founded on.
And if I were a politician the take away I would have is that terrorism, regardless of the cause or reason, is still terrorism with dire consequences. Perhaps we should start investigating fringe left groups like we do the fringe right ones.
