Saturday's "climate march" in Washington turns into another wrongheaded farce that has little to do with climate

The “peoples climate march” in Washington is turning into another zoo like last weekend’s “March for Science”. Even full-on warmists are panning it, and it hasn’t even started yet. Looking at the lineup, it’s easy to see why:

To me, it looks like a socialist parade with a dose of gender anger thrown in.

Some comments from the “warm” side of the debate:

Of course, not everyone sees the farce…for example, there’s Peter Gleick, the man without a filter, or appreciation of the first amendment:

In the interests of truth in advertising, I thought I’d help them out with the following tweaks to their slogans:
Protectors of Climate Ideology
Makers of Safe Spaces
Builders of Socialism and Marxism
Guardians of the Greenie Gravy Train
Defenders of Lies
Keepers of the Climate Faith
Grabbers of Power
Many Climate Drones, One Mind
They’re welcome.

Rules for Climate Change Radicals; The Price of a Successful Attack is a Constructive Alternative
The upcoming “People’s Climate Movement/March” is a classic example of this tactic, and they even highlight it in their title. After the climate movement’s disastrous defeat in the last election, they have recouped and formed their “constructive alternative.” From the People’s Climate Movement website it states “presenting an alternative to Trump’s disastrous agenda.”

Why lefty has to be heavy on sexual proclivity no matter the subject or context has always escaped me. I must not be “enlightened “.
Idiots.

Logoswrench: You have it the wrong way round. If you like a lot of (various flavour?) sex it’s generally useful to join a like minded group of people. It’s the life choices agenda the young ones buy into first, the politics gets layered on top later.

So many questions for the organizers of this event:
Why are you segregating/categorizing people? Are we not ONE?
Why are the scientists in 5th place, and the climate activists and environmentalists in last place at a “climate march”?
If you are a “woman” who is also a parent, a scientist, and who is anti-corporate and works for the government….which group do you march with?
I notice “men” are not constrained to any one category of your march like women are. Why are you being sexist? And apparently “Latinos” have to stay together as well. Why are you racists?
What about people who only “identify” as one of the groups….will they be allowed to march where they are comfortable?
Is the group that includes “peace” the only group that will be peaceful?
Will the climate activists and “more” be cleaning up the march route as they move along? You know….protecting the environment ?
Didn’t all of you people just march last week? Were you paid to stay in town a full week and have bookend rallies or did the Union bus drivers just refuse to round trip you all in one weekend so you had to stay?
Will you be earth friendly and recycling the posters and signs from last weeks march or will you be wasting resources and making new ones?

Aphan, they don’t see color, but they celebrate it.

Reply to  Bruce Cobb

They don’t mention any colors, but exclude “latinos” from “immigrants” for some reason, they only invited 6 of the 51-63 possible (supposedly) gender/sexual identities (straight and non-sexual people are not among those represented) and while they “stand with those who are pillars of our democratic institutions” they loathe the President, his cabinet members, most legislative representatives, and everyone who used their voting rights in a democratic way to elect someone they disagree with. And how are all the “anti corporate, anti fossil fuel” attendees going to get there without the help of corporations and fossil fuels? Even if they WALK there, if they are wearing shoes, clothing, eating purchased food and drinking bottled water, they have supported major corporations and fossil fuels.
The irony is so thick they should have to “swim” through the air to march.

It’s a safe bet that the group with “peace” in their name, will be the least peaceful group out there.

Any group that calls itself “The People’s [fill in the blank]” almost always neither represents “the people” nor works in their interest. Quite the opposite. Such groups usually HATE people.

I cannot tell from their website exactly who the primary organizers and financiers are. There are a lot of Identity groups – the usual suspects, no surprises in that list. And there are multiple organizational groups. But much like last weekend’s march, it’s not an easy task to follow the money.

I don’t think that the leaders of this march were specific enough when they named it. Needs to be more politically and ideologically explicit……
To wit: The People’s Glorious Proletarian Socialist-Marxist-Leninist Revolutionary Eco-Utopian Death To Fossil Fuels……..Climate March.

Out of curiosity, I looked at the march’s website. Their schedule of events is listed there, and I found this interesting item at the end of it……
“5:00pm Head Home for Ongoing Action
We will wrap up our day together and head back to our local communities, preparing to take action on May 1st in solidarity with workers and immigrants across the country……”
May 1st is observed as a labor holiday by numerous ideological groups including Communists and Socialists if I am not mistaken, correct? I don’t think the march’s ideological bent could get much clearer than that.

As I understand it, May 1 is usually a day when a lot of destruction is committed by those ideological groups. Particularly in Europe. (Correct me if I am wrong.)
I prefer the dancing around the maypole tradition. I would also prefer that the marchers a) not come to the D.C. area in the first place and b) if they are local, go somewhere else at 5 pm.

Marvel Comics will be disappointed. A perfect opportunity to add a film crew and take in some early scenes for Avengers Infinity Wars, except that the organisers forgot to arrange a slot for our favourite panalopy of superheroes.

Has any credible scientific organization ever stated and proven that humans
have now been put in charge and are capable of setting the earth’s thermostat ?
The so called “record ” temperature nonsense is just BS propaganda and a mann made up computer model farce of manipulated data by scary warmy promoters .
Does any one believe humans are going to regulate the earth’s thermostat through a downward adjustment of a trace gas who’s abundance ensures a greening earth ? Who would be on a committee of global temperature setters …
Al Gore ?
STFU is the new scientific method stated by people who have run out of ammo .

Bill Nye “Is Not The Right” Guy Would Prefer an Ice Age Over the Current Warming
The Nation Magazine didn’t even grasp that if what Bill Nye said is true, CO2 is the greatest gift man has ever been given. Forget New York flooding in 10,000 years due to global warming, New York would be covered in ice after just a few years of an ice age. Societies collapse and die during ice ages, they thrive during warming periods. Liberals are so blinded by their ideology they don’t even understand how insane their positions are. Possible death 10,000 years in the future due to warming, or certain death during an ice age. Bill Nye makes is sound like the certainty of death and misery during an ice age is preferable to continued warmth.

Political “Scientist” Michael Mann Prefers Censorship, Slander and Punitive Action Over Debate
“It should trouble everyone in the scientific community that the primary response of its leading voices when they encounter a voice they don’t like is to try to get that person fired from their job. That it doesn’t trouble anyone very much says something,” wrote Roger Pielke, Jr. in a blog post this month.

Of course, what’s happening is that climate activism is gradually losing all connection with the actual climate, and simply becoming an umbrella for left-liberal activism. (Not a good thing, either for left-wing politics or for the sciences.)
Not surprising – if temperatures stay put or drop the next few years, “The Science” (as opposed to the science, which is quite healthy, thank you, and may yet have some surprises for us) is going to become entirely unsupportable.

Sara

Seriously, climate whatever isn’t about science. It’s about religion. They could [put] Mann or that jackass Nye on a donkey – or just put Mann on the jackass Nye – and follow him into The City waving palm branches and singing ‘he’s going to save us from Warming!’
This Spring in my kingdom is just as cold (40s, occasional 50s, 30s at night) and wet (rain, lots of it, last year it was snow) as it was last year and the 3 years before that. Looks like there’s snow in Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Colorado, and Kansas, sometimes mixed with rain. Good for the croplands, not so good for cities that aren’t prepared to deal with the runoff , and they are NOT prepared. It’s weather, not climate change.
Meantime, I think I’ll make a nice big pot of bean soup with ham and some cornbread and enjoy a good book.
