As a Brit I have been disgusted with the BBC’s coverage of the US election and its denigration of Trump and his supporters. The BBC is unashamedly pro-Clinton, that alone makes me favour Trump. If Trump is elected I hope one of the first things he does is throw the BBC out of the US.

He’s not a “true believer” altho leaning too much in that direction . He mentions that Harrison Schimtt has told him it’s bunk . I met him in 2012 and am sure I must have expressed my thoughts . But I remember more mentioning how Google Earth had made me aware of what an incredibly large altiplano the Tibetan plateau is , and one of his climbing buddies there agreed and said it was quite a memorable place .
In any case , I think he’s open to reason , just needs it presented convincingly and personally . He’s not for State “solutions” in any case .

In my considered opinion, buffoons and incompetents make better rulers most of the time than dedicated ideologues or smart shysters in someone else’s pockets.
Only occasionally will a man of deep principle and reasonable competence step up to the platte.
And that is not where its at today.
I am all for Trump., because his name means ‘fart’ in British Northern slang, and because he doesn’t believe in AGW.,

Trump has a New York City mouth. The rest of the US and the world doesn’t quite understand that. And in New York City if someone verbally attacks you then you attack them back.
But in New York City nobody takes any of it too seriously. Certain cities are known for their politeness — New York for its crudity. So Trump has had a problem transitioning from being a New Yorker to being a mealy mouthed national politician.
But underneath that layer of New York is a man who can do the job that this country needs done.

“From over on the UK side of the pond the 2016 US Presidential election is a bit of a mystery. What should we think?”
What you need to know is that the House of Representatives is supposed to control spending. And that the republicans with the help of John Boehner and Paul Ryan have facilitated almost everything the democrats have wanted, including raising the debt ceiling and getting the country into 19 trillion in national debt. They are standing by to fast track Obana/Clinton trade deals such as
TPP TTIP TiSA
It gives us very great pleasure to have the opportunity to elect a man who says that he will not sign these horribly crafted trade deals. He said in his acceptance speech for the nomination that he will make trade agreements with individual countries.
He uses Willis Carrier’s company as an example of what is happening to our businesses. Carrier has been encouraged by over-regulation, taxation and energy costs and NAFTA to move to Mexico. So the country where a farm kid who paid his way through engineering school with a laundry service and invented air conditioning and temp control is now heading to Mexico to make products there. This can’t be right, and even the Unions don’t like HIllary Clinton’s “ultimate dream of hemispheric open trade and open borders.” (h/t Wikileaks: Texts of Clinton Speeches to Banks)
Plus the added joy of seeing establishment republicans clutching their pearls and gasping about Donald J Trump. In particular, Jeb Bush, who is now actually supporting the Clintonistas.
That is a start.

It was supposed to be a foregone conclusion for the elitist American dynasties. The GOP was supposed to select Jeb Bush and the Dems put up Hillary as a front for Bill. Didn’t matter to them which of them won as the gravy train would just keep right on rolling home. What is another four years between friends? Hillary was going to play the “I’m a woman ” card and Jeb, “Mr trustworthy tough guy”. Everything should have gone to plan. Soros would be happy, as would Gates, Steyer, Buffet, Suzuki, Musk and Zuckerberg. Then along came Donald Trump and threw a spanner in the works. And now… Along come the American people….
Best of luck guys!

Patrick MJD —
Your position on Brexit is unclear to me. To my American ears what you said can be taken either way. But here is my opinion of Brexit.
As far as Brexit goes none of that bad stuff that the aristocratic left swore would happen has happened. (Sounds sorta like what is said about climate change — nothing of which ever comes true. And sorta like climate change all the dire predictions have been moved a few years down the road.) They invented that stuff to frighten the poor dumb sheeple into voting “correctly”. (They should never even been allowed to vote on Brexit. Allowing the sheeple to vote is a mistake the aristocratic left will not make again.) The people of the UK voted wisely and gave themselves their self-governance back. And by doing so they have taken back their economy and will hereafter better their own lives.

Patrick MJD —
You apparently missed the “money line” at the end of the first article you suggested should be read —
“The market is unimpressed with the politicians being seemingly happy to trade single market access and support for financial services for total control of immigration and primacy of U.K. laws.”
“The market”, in this case, represents the aristocratic left who are realizing that their “skim” off the top which has been baked into the European system is about to disappear and there will be new ways of doing business. The drop in the pound has been small but promises more trade with the world outside Europe meaning more job growth inside the U.K. Let’s understand something — the aristocratic left is scared to death of the prosperity that dumping them and the European Union will cause. They are the ones who will not prosper under Brexit
The second article you suggest reading simply says that at the present moment under Brexit there are no plans to increase Australian immigration to the U.K. It also suggests that over time that will probably change.
I am a little confounded by what you deem significant about this? Are you worried that peoples with an English heritage and sharing the English language with replace Muslims immigrants who have no interest in assimilating into English culture and, indeed, want to make it Muslim? Are you worried that if people of English culture replace Muslims that there will not be enough female genital mutilations and honor killings on U.K. soil to prevent the rest of the world from calling the U.K. racist?
I am having a little fun here but, truly, I don’t get why you thought the second article significant.

This is a little more reading about the trade deals which Donald J Trump opposes, and which the progressive Republicans are trying to help Obama obtain:
On Sunday, June 14th, Hillary Clinton came out publicly for the first time in support of President Obama’s trade-deals — TPP with Asia, TTIP with Europe, and on TISA with all nations to lower the standards on banking and insurance and to privatize government services. What’s at issue in Congress right now — and thus what she was responding to — is whether or not to grant U.S. President Barack Obama the “Fast Track Trade Promotion Authority,” which will produce expedited passage for his trade-deals; the trade-deals themselves are not even before Congress yet, and have not even been made public, though the first one up for consideration will be TPP with Asia; but that deal, like the others, will virtually certainly go down to defeat unless the president first wins “Fast Track,” which is the issue now.
The reason “Fast Track” is the issue now before Congress, is that it’s actually the only feasible way for Obama to be able to win congressional passage of TPP or of any of his big-three trade-deals. It’s crucial because it reduces the Constitutionally required two-thirds of Senators voting for a given trade-deal, down to merely 50% of Senators (plus VP Joe Biden) needed to vote for it, in order for the deal to become U.S. law — and there is no way possible for this Senate to vote two-thirds for either TPP with Asia, TTIP with Europe, or TISA for “Services.” But 50% can safely be assured (especially with the gargantuan political-campaign donations that are pouring into Congress to back it). Clinton said that it’s so important for Obama to win Fast Track authority, that, “I am willing to try now to see whether you can push to get rid of the objectionable parts, to drive a harder bargain on some of the other parts,” so that Congress will grant the president Fast Track Trade promotion Authority. (Her underlying assumption, which she knows to be false, is that to “drive a harder bargain” is “a harder bargain” against foreign nations, not against the publics in both the U.S. and all nations. International corporations will benefit enormously. But Obama is not negotiating against them; he’s negotiating against the public, for the international corporations.)
Ref wikileaks, huffpo
These trade deals are what Donald J Trump took up in his campaign, and singlehandedly and successfully made into issues. No help from the Republican party. Very impressive.
That is a real bit of leadership, and I think he will follow through.

Now headlines say the HIllary Clinton is now out campaigning to her base claiming that Donald J Trump is “sold out to the gun lobby.”
That is pretty breathtaking, coming from an arms dealer to the Middle East, at a time of multiple failed states and the spread of ISIS!

Clinton Foundation Donors Got Weapons Deals From Hillary Clinton’s State Department
“In the years before Hillary Clinton became secretary of state, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia contributed at least $10 million to the Clinton Foundation, the philanthropic enterprise she has overseen with her husband, former president Bill Clinton. Just two months before the deal was finalized, Boeing — the defense contractor that manufactures one of the fighter jets the Saudis were especially keen to acquire, the F-15 — contributed $900,000 to the Clinton Foundation, according to a company press release.
The Saudi deal was one of dozens of arms sales approved by Hillary Clinton’s State Department that placed weapons in the hands of governments that had also donated money to the Clinton family philanthropic empire, an International Business Times investigation has found.
Under Clinton’s leadership, the State Department approved $165 billion worth of commercial arms sales to 20 nations whose governments have given money to the Clinton Foundation, according to an IBTimes analysis of State Department and foundation data. That figure — derived from the three full fiscal years of Clinton’s term as Secretary of State (from October 2010 to September 2012) — represented nearly double the value of American arms sales made to the those countries and approved by the State Department during the same period of President George W. Bush’s second term.
The Clinton-led State Department also authorized $151 billion of separate Pentagon-brokered deals for 16 of the countries that donated to the Clinton Foundation, resulting in a 143 percent increase in completed sales to those nations over the same time frame during the Bush administration.” IBT

Now since Hillary Clinton has attempted to raise awareness about the problems with deplorable and irredeemable islamophobes in our country (who are supporting Donald J Trump),
I want to return the favor to her by proving that she isn’t an islamophobe:
1. Podesta emails show that his transition team wanted to be careful not to hire any Arabs that are Christian:
“Here are the compiled lists of Asian American and Muslim American
candidates for top Administration jobs, sub-cabinet jobs, and outside
boards/agencies/policy committees. A couple things to note about the list
of Muslim American candidates:
1) In the candidates for top jobs, I excluded those with some Arab
American background but who are not Muslim (e.g., George Mitchell). Many
Lebanese Americans, for example, are Christian. In the last list (of
outside boards/commissions), most who are listed appear to be Muslim
American, except that a handful (where noted) may be Arab American but of
uncertain religion (esp. Christian).”

3. The fact that she sells arms to countries who arm ISIS
4. The fact that ISIS gained control of oil refineries and has filled the vacuum in several failed states while she was the Sec of State
5. I will let Donald J Trump explain the increase in Syrian migrants:
“Lastly, and very importantly we must immediately suspend immigration from any nation that has been compromised by terrorism until such time as proven vetting mechanisms have been put in place. We don’t want them in our country.
My opponent has called for a radical 550 percent increase in Syrian, think of this, think of this, this is not believable but this is what is happening. A 550 percent increase in Syrian refugees on top of existing massive refugee flows coming into our country already under the leadership of President Obama.
She proposes this despite the fact that there’s no way to screen these refugees in order to find out who they are or where they come from. I only want to admit individuals into our country who will support our values and love our people.”
