Al Jazeera: Climate "deniers" costing 400,000 lives / year

Outrageous claim from Al Jazeera about climate "denial"
Outrageous claim from Al Jazeera about climate “denial”

Guest essay by Eric Worrall

Al Jazeera has made an outrageous claim that climate “denial” is helping to kill 400,000 people every year.

According to Al Jazeera;

“Other conspiracy theorists make fools of themselves, but they don’t harm anyone else. That isn’t the case here. Because climate change costs lives. Climate change deniers are undermining the battle to save those lives. They may be nuts, but its still no laughing matter”.

See the video: http://www.aljazeera.com/programmes/upfront/2015/10/reality-check-climate-change-conspiracy-151031081029315.html

How can climate change possibly be killing 400,000 people per year, when the green movement can’t even produce one legitimate climate refugee?

Blaming Climate Change is a terrific scapegoat for corruption and incompetence, of which there is no shortage in many parts of the Middle East. WUWT recently reported how the former governor of Alexandria tried to blame Climate Change for the lethal floods which swept his city, in an apparent effort to deflect accusations of poor civic infrastructure management.

The terrorist Osama Bin Laden once attempted to conflate climate change and hatred of the West, perhaps he was just a bit before his time. Now Al Jazeera, the news service backed by the hardline Qatari dictatorship, appears in my opinion to be trying to finish what Bin Laden started.

Let us hope Al Jazeera don’t succeed in their apparent efforts to fan the flames of mindless hatred.

How many people die each year because of the artificially high cost of energy brought on by alarmists and their insistence on high fossil fuel taxes? Does anyone have an estimate for that?

I do not have figures for deaths from lack of heating or cooling outside of the yearly winter news reports from northern states.
I have death figures from projects that Greens block and stop.
7.8 million women and children die every year from bad indoor air – from using wood stoves and dung because The Greens prevent any energy. http://www.who.int/mediacentre/factsheets/fs292/en/
.
3.4 million people die every year including 760 000 children. The Greens block the fuel needed to run drinking water and sanitary systems. http://water.org/water-crisis/water-facts/water/
.
850,000 people die every year because refrigerated vaccines cannot be maintained…The Greens block any electrical services and think a 6 solar panels powering a single surgery room light bulb is enough to also run a refrigerator.
.
2 million women and children die every year and another million go blind because the Greens will not allowed Golden Rice, which is free, to be grown.

The UN’s own report says it is 3 million a year. Killed by lack of affordable electricity. A small price to pay if we can save those 4 hundred thousand dying of climate change.

What I’m missing is an analysis of the death numbers against age. At 7 billion people, assuming an average life span of 70 years (just for easy calculation), about 100 million will die just of old age every year. Interesting would be how the average life span is affected by those apparently bad circumstances.

Give me the names of all 400,000 people killed by climate change. You may not include people killed by events that have a well-documented history of occurring at a certain area. For example: deaths by a mudslide may only be included if no mudslide occurred at that area ever before.

The religion of peace, forced marriages, and female genital mutilation.
And genocide against Christians, or “cattle”, as Mehdi Hassan would call them.

female genital mutilation.
===========
yes, completely unreported. More than 100 million women in Indonesia alone. A barbaric practice handed down from the harems, leaves the women unable to achieve orgasm during intercourse, facilitating 1 man to have multiple wives.
Unfortunately, the practice because custom. What the Sultan enjoyed, became the custom for all. Like Castilian Spanish. The king spoke with a lisp, everyone speaks with a lisp to this day, long after the king is dead.

A person with a little time and some background in basic engineering can easily compute that a movement which so far has succeeded in banning modern gas extraction in several E.U. countries, closing many many major coal fired power stations, resisting expansion of nuclear and big hydropower, etc etc – is serving the interests of foreign oil and gas exporters.
Unfortunately the dummies who parade in favour of the destruction of E.U. and American energy independence really do believe in all the complete nonsense that they have now been told:
That there is a “big oil” conspiracy to prevent the installation of “free” renewables!!
That fossil fuel derived energy receives larger subsidies than the equivalent energy sourced from renewables!!
That Al Jazeera and Russia Today are trustworthy news outlets that give voice to the oppressed leftist climate truthers.
Outside my house in the U.K. at this very moment it is very cold, very dark and there is no breeze in the air.
If I look out at the nearest town then I will see the twinkling of many lights.
Inside of each home there is warmth and light, entertainment and many many labour saving appliances.
And yet within those homes are also invariably a few imbeciles who believe with a degree of confidence that their energy could now be generated by magic pixies.
Russia and the Gulf states would like to take advantage of this delusional mentality.
When our society comprises 97% useful idiots then we might as well accept that our country is in the hands of Putin and the Muslim Brotherhood. The game is nearly up.
Then maybe they can have a little tussle and see who gets the biggest piece.

Seems you are being haunted by Churchill’s “Black Dog” of late.
And no the game is not nearly up. They have not won. Think Asymmetric Warfare that is what they are facing (warmists). They have tried faking the science, corrupting the data, attacking any and all who question or challenge them. Someone else just steps up. One of them states one thing claiming all the certainty in creation that their findings are beyond question and then another of them publishes the complete opposite. They try to use Governments to impose their will. At first it appears they succeed and then push back occurs. Then they try religion. And all they do is cause is schism in the R.C. church.
Now they turn to Islam?

You’re right Morlock. But, I’m trying to prepare myself for the possibility of some sort of disasterous “breakthrough agreement” in Paris.
The omens are not good. With Canada and Australia now fronting CAGW supporting leaders.
They could quite possibly come up with some really ugly load of incompetently conceived crap.
And then I’ll be annoyed about it for a few months or years.
I get annoyed by how stupid and misdirected the whole thing is.
Somebody mentioned smoke inhalation from cooking fires in the developed world, above.
There are seemingly trivial cheap solutions that could vastly change people’s lives.
But, instead we are probably going to see a rush to develop “deep water wind” or some such exhorbitant and laughable stupid nonsense.
It’s all stupid and I hate it all. And I wish that it would all just go away so that we could return to focusing on sensible stuff – like the real needs of real people in the real world. Boo hoo…

Oh they will try, but Russia is not going to sign on. Nor China nor India or Japan. Germany is adding coal fire power plants go figure. As for China Japan and a few others they seem to be setting up a organisation for development financing, Coal, oil, gas, even renewable. The only ones playing ring -a – round the rosy are gullible western governments. People are not yet really feeling the impact across the entire breath of these countries. Some are suffering but human beings have this amazing ability to ignore the hardships of their fellow citizens as long as they are safe and warm. They will rationalize that all will be well and some how it will be fixed until it hits them. Then the fats in the fire.

It’s an inevitable development, an example of Blair’s Law, it’s settled science:
‘Blair’s Law, coined by Australian journalist, Tim Blair as “the ongoing process by which the world’s multiple idiocies are becoming one giant, useless force.”
The alliance between the radical Left and extremist Islamists is an example of Blair’s Law’.

When an organisation like Al Jazeera promotes the dangers of denialism right minded people should be suspicious. They could not give a toss about global warming but they are interested in destroying the West and the best way to do that is to undermine it’s economies. We should by now be aware that AGW/CC does not have a basis in science and is purely political. The end result is the collapse of Western civilisation as we know it to be replaced with what exactly. The socialists at the UN have not thought that far ahead. When the West is broke there will be nothing to transfer to the poor so how will they be helped? they won’t. From what I have seen the elitists do not have the nous nor the skills to survive in a truly competitive world where survival of the fittest will result in the elites being the first to fail. I wonder have they thought of that and if they have read the blueprint espoused in “Animal Farm” for they should know the pigs eventually lost but importantly the lower classes were still the lower classes and were now worse off than when they started.

Perhaps so, but I seriously doubt there are a great many that are anything more than tepid warmers out there . . who might read here. Polls I am aware of (US) show no overwhelming anything about “climate change”. When put on a list of ten or whatever national concerns, it polls at the bottom. The mass media echo chamber has failed to establish significant “alarm” despite it’s shock and awe strategy, so to speak. And the echo chamber itself ain’t doin’ so hot either . . so, wipe that frown off your face, soldier ; )

If you were an oil state and saw how gullible the western nations are; would you not promote the heck out of reducing CO2/fossil fuel to drive your competitors out of business from self-inflicted wounds (Carbon Tax) so that the price of your oil and your market share would go up.
This is pretty simple Global Economics and protectionism that every country plays and applies tariffs to protect local industries. We even have inter-provincial protectionism in Canada. BC residents get arrested for buying too much wine in Alberta where it is cheaper and taking it back to BC – avoiding paying the higher BC provincial liquor tax.
Self interest is endemic. The Al Jazera article is simply political propaganda. Not much different fro Pravda, New York TImes, San Francisco Chronicle, Washington Post ad infinitum.

I mean – is Hartman himself going to be the last to person on the planet to realize that he is being used to advance the disruption of U.S. and E.U. energy independence.
There he is, all cocksure, on RT every week telling us that Germany has already transitioned to solar etc
He must surely be the dumbest fool on planet earth.
Wake up Thom – You are on RUSSIA Today, the mouthpiece one of the the biggest Oil and Gas producers on the planet, 24% of their gas goes to Germany. Remember, Germany? The place that you keep mentioning. The solar miracle. – you freakin’ IDIOT.

Jeff,
Climate is an abstraction; a quasi-statistical compilation of weather events over an arbitrary period. This will not kill you, although one of the weather events that contributed to this “climate” may well do so.
You can go out into -50 degree weather and perish. There’s no such thing as a -50 degree climate.
An epidemic is, similarly, a view of multiple instances of a disease. It is not the disease itself.
The distinction is only worth making because of the intense hysteria that has surrounded the subject for the last couple of decades.
