Al Jazeera: Climate "deniers" costing 400,000 lives / year

Outrageous claim from Al Jazeera about climate "denial"
Outrageous claim from Al Jazeera about climate “denial”

Guest essay by Eric Worrall

Al Jazeera has made an outrageous claim that climate “denial” is helping to kill 400,000 people every year.

According to Al Jazeera;

“Other conspiracy theorists make fools of themselves, but they don’t harm anyone else. That isn’t the case here. Because climate change costs lives. Climate change deniers are undermining the battle to save those lives. They may be nuts, but its still no laughing matter”.

See the video:

How can climate change possibly be killing 400,000 people per year, when the green movement can’t even produce one legitimate climate refugee?

Blaming Climate Change is a terrific scapegoat for corruption and incompetence, of which there is no shortage in many parts of the Middle East. WUWT recently reported how the former governor of Alexandria tried to blame Climate Change for the lethal floods which swept his city, in an apparent effort to deflect accusations of poor civic infrastructure management.

The terrorist Osama Bin Laden once attempted to conflate climate change and hatred of the West, perhaps he was just a bit before his time. Now Al Jazeera, the news service backed by the hardline Qatari dictatorship, appears in my opinion to be trying to finish what Bin Laden started.

Let us hope Al Jazeera don’t succeed in their apparent efforts to fan the flames of mindless hatred.

November 1, 2015 4:09 pm calls attention to the International Decade of the Rapprochement of Cultures. CAGW is one of the needed false narratives to get the “support of the people” via a manufactured consensus through education. Another is how Islam is described and its adherents treated, whatever the facts.
RoC is a UN initiative launched in 2013 with Saudi Arabian financial support and Kazakhstan sponsorship. It needs to be on all of our radar because it admits that this refugee crisis all over the world is a crucial component of the POst-2015 agenda, just like education and CAGW.
Lots of incentive in RoC for Al Jazeera to say this, especially since the media globally are explicitly called on to support the desired narrative.

After all that jazz with the Al Jazeera journalists in Egyptian prison it turns out that Al Jazeera was sued by one of their jailed journalists. Jailed journalist stated that Al Jazeera did not tell him the full facts about their license to report from Egypt. Al Jazeera, he stated, did not have a license. MIGHT BE what the aforesaid journalist objected to. 😉
Al Jazeera says that journalism is not a crime. I agree. Lying in journalism should be a crime though. Shame.

Al Jazeera: Climate “deniers” costing 400,000 lives / year

I do not know where the “400,000 lives / year” comes from:
Does it come from 2012?
I very vaguely recall Kof Annan mentioning something similar but I can’t be sure.
Death creeps on us all. Be worried. Be very worried about carbon dioxide. The FAO reported that there was global record cereal production in 2014. It’s worse than I thought?
How many fvcking live have been SAVED by coal and oil? = winter heating, ambulance gas transport, medical manufacturing an so on……………….

Here is the UN report (below) behind the numbers. Notice that lack of electricity (Indoor Smoke) kills 3 million a year. By far the largest cause of deaths, and is predicted to remain the largest killer in 2030 as well. Evidently the report is predicting that the poor of the world are not about to get electricity any time soon.
So, if the UN was serious about reducing deaths, they would be rushing to make sure that everyone on the planet had electricity before they worried about climate change. Because as the UN’s own numbers show (below), lack of electricity kills millions more people each year than does climate change. And by the UN’s own numbers, this is not going to change any time soon.
Yet here we have the UN proposing that we make climate change the number 1 priority, with electricity a far distant priority. Also notice that the report blames hunger on climate change. As though people never starved to death before global warming. Tell that to the 30+ million Chinese that died of starvation during the global cooling of the early 60’s.
2010 2030
Diarrheal Infections 85,000 150,000
Heat & Cold Illnesses 35,000 35,000
Hunger 225,000 380,000
Malaria & Vector Borne Diseases 20,000 20,000
Meningitis 30,000 40,000
Environmental Disasters 5,000 7,000
Air Pollution 1,400,000 2,100,000
Indoor Smoke 3,100,000 3,100,000
Occupational Hazards 55,000 80,000
Skin Cancer 20,000 45,000
World 4,975,000 5,957,000

the numbers above are from page 18 of the UN’s own report. So yes, I call BS on Al Jazeera and the UN, along with the Climate Negotiators heading to Paris. These deaths are on your heads.
You have completely ignoring the millions killed every year because people do not have access to low cost electricity. And instead you are proposing that we not provide this electricity any time soon, so that we can prevent climate change. Climate change that kills only a small fraction of the number of people killed by lack of affordable electricity.
Look at the UN’s own numbers. Million killed every year because they lack access to low cost electricity for heating and cooking. And the UN and the leaders of the world propose to make the problem even worse.
That is the real Obama legacy. Add it up. Millions of people will die needlessly of indoor smoke because they lack access to affordable electricity. In return, thousands of people will be save from dying of Climate Change. And the problem will not bet any better. Tens of millions of unnecessary extra deaths by 2030, all in the name of saving the world.
And these are the UN’s own numbers.

I have read elsewhere that 2 million die annually from lack of potable water and good sanitation. Electrification would help greatly with those too. If this was really about helping humanity, all the warmists would be demanding that a 1000 coal plants be built in Africa and Asia.

all the warmists would be demanding that a 1000 coal plants be built in Africa and Asia.
it is the white man’s burden to save the black and brown people of the earth from the ravages of climate change.
thus the world bank is limiting financing of coal power plants. now that whitey has electricity, no reason to let anyone else have it. having eaten a huge piece of pie, and taken an enormous dump on the table, we can’t let anyone else have any pie in case they also feel the call of nature. lets all meet in Paris and outlaw anyone else eating pie.

has quoted the right report but the wrong section, that’s why they add up to 5 million, not the 400,000
The figs above are for a combination of climate change and “Continuing today’s patterns of carbon-intensive energy use is estimated, together with climate change, to cause 6 million deaths per year by 2030, close to 700,000 of which would be due to climate change. ” (the DARA report explains)
BTW look at how they try to pin indoor smoke on fossil fuels when the vast majority of such deaths are due to cooking using Climate friendly wood burning .
He says the figs originate from page 18 of a UN report ..but I can’t find such a report.

Here are the lives to be lost due to ‘global warming’:

50m environmental refugees by end of decade, UN warns
United Nations General Assembly – 8 July 2008
….it had been estimated that there would be between 50 million and 200 million environmental migrants by 2010…..

Asian Correspondent – 11 April 2011
What happened to the climate refugees?
However, a very cursory look at the first available evidence seems to show that the places identified by the UNEP as most at risk of having climate refugees are not only not losing people, they are actually among the fastest growing regions in the world.

$300bn pa is being flushed on “abatement” schemes that almost always need conventional backup.
Other than the mere holding of a personal opinion, specifically what harm do they believe “d@niers” have enforced? What policies have been blocked (other than AUS replacing carbon pricing with the more effective Direct action)? How much incremental CO2 and therefore temp at your preferred sensitivity resulted? And what fatal events resulted from this fatal temp?
Sounds like a ploy to declare a group of people guilty of a capital crime solely by virtue of their beliefs. Has that ever happened before?

BTW, Al Jazeera English is a handy source for what’s happening around the world. A bit too much knee-jerk anti-americanism, but if you can see through that you can actually learn stuff that you would not get anywhere else.

Former American Vice President Al Gore is suing Al Jazeera America over the sale of a TV network he founded.
Mr Gore and his partners agreed to sell Current TV to the Qatari-owned broadcaster last year.
But Mr Gore and other former shareholders in the company claim Al Jazeera America is trying to retain $65m (£39m) of the purchase money.
They have filed a lawsuit claiming the terms of the contract have not been honoured.
Mr Gore’s lawyer, David Boies, said in a statement: “Al Jazeera America wants to give itself a discount on the purchase price that was agreed to nearly two years ago.”

400,000 on an annual basis is a very small number.
For the year to date-hour-second there have been over 49,998,700 human deaths.
Even if 400,000 is correct, I doubt it, such is astronomically small and hardly a mention in the NY Times.
But then I have doubts about 50 million too.
But it is All Saints Day after all.

only works if you are the only one cooking. the problem is the fuel itself. dung makes a shitty fire. 1 million cooking fires and you have the Great London Fog all over again. The smoke settles back down and you breathe it all day and night.
SE Asia minimized the problem by switching over to low cost bottled gas. Electricity allows you to do one better.

But you don’t understand Andrew. While it is true that the Global Average Surface Temperature hasn’t changed in the last twenty years, people do not live in the average anything. Everybody lives in “Right Here Right Now”© so in the places where it is too hot it is now, due to Climate Change, even too hotter and thus people are dying from the EXTRA, climate change, heat. In the “too cold” places it is now, due to Climate Change even too colder so people are dying from the Climate Change coldy. Climate Change means too hot and too cold AT THE SAME TIME. Simple.
The extra hot and the extra coldy balance out and the GAST remains the same, but the climate has changed and extra people have died due to the change.

Data at some of NOAA’s tall towers passed through 400 ppm years before MLO reached that level. IPCC AR5 TS.6 claims uncertainty in CO2 concentrations over land. Preliminary data from OCO-2 suggests that CO2 is not as well mixed as assumed. Per IPCC AR5 WG1 chapter 6 mankind’s share of the atmosphere’s CO2 is basically unknown, could be anywhere from 4% to 96%. (IPCC AR5 Ch 6, Figure 6.1, Table 6.1)
The major global C/CO2 (not CO2 per se, C is a precursor proxy for CO2) reservoirs, i.e. oceans, atmosphere, vegetation & soil, contain over 40,000 Pg (Gt) of C/CO2. Over 90% of this C/CO2 reserve is in the oceans. Between these reservoirs ebb and flow hundreds of Pg C/CO2 per year, the great fluxes. For instance, vegetation absorbs C/CO2 for photosynthesis producing plants and O2. When the plants die and decay they release C/CO2. A divinely maintained balance of perfection for thousands of years now unbalanced by mankind’s evil use of fossil fuels.
So just how much net C/CO2 does mankind’s evil fossil fuel consumption add to this perfectly balanced 40,000 Gt cauldron of churning, boiling, fluxing C/CO2?
3. That’s correct, 3. Not 3,000, not 300, 3! How are we supposed to take this seriously?
IPCC AR5 attributes 2 W/m^2 of unbalancing RF due to the increased CO2 concentration between 1750 and 2011. In the overall global heat balance 2 W (watt is power, not energy) is lost in the magnitude and uncertainty of: ToA, 340 +/- 10, fluctuating albedo of clouds, snow and ice, and the absorption and release of heat from evaporation and condensation of the ocean and water vapor cycle. (IPCC AR5 Ch 8, FAQ 8.1)
IPCC AR5 acknowledges the LTT pause in Text Box 9.2 and laments the failure of the GCMs to model it.
The sea ice and sheet ice is expanding not shrinking, the weather (30 years = climate) is less extreme not more, the sea level rise is not accelerating, the GCM’s are repeat failures, the CAGW hypothesis is coming unraveled, COP21 has all the makings of yet another embarrassing fiasco, IPCC AR6 will mimic SNL’s Rosanna Rosanna Dana, “Well, neeeveeer mind!!”

Christians are killed hourly now in Syria and Egypt. Homosexuals are hung in Iran. In the USA the left, already having begun the campaign of ridicule and prosecution of Christians, will start by jailing them, and then intellectuals, and the infirmed. The socialists did so in the 1930s and in Cambodia. How is man any different in 2015? Then they will begin the exterminations, just about when the middle eastern hoards cave-in Germany the Netherlands, and great Britain.

Another reason why there are so few Arabic books is that Arabic writing consists only of consonants, there are no vowels. Because of this, writing that has only consonants must be understood before it can be read (ie comprehended), while writing that has both consonants and vowels reverses this process.
In other words, with consonantal writing “interpretation precedes decipherment,” while with alphabetic writing “decipherment precedes interpretation.

I was entertained last night when our Aussie government broadcaster SBS ran this Al-Jazeera piece on the evening news. It was about wind turbines massacring golden eagles. That is surprising since SBS is generally as green as grass, so allowing a news item which goes against the doctrines of Gaia is unusual.
Having a wholly owned arm of the Qatari government criticise wind energy is less surprising. One always needs a higher oil price when one is a sheik on a budget.

I was making a generally sensible point.
In “relative terms”, on-shore wind is cheaper than the really expensive stuff.
But to put that into context here is the last comment that I made on the topic:
“Last time I checked – the UK wave subsidy was still set at approx. 10 times the wholesale electricity rate.
The subsidies are scaled to reflect the stupidity of the concept.
More stupidity begets more subsidy.
The system is designed to create a level playing field in which stupid ideas can compete with sensible ones.
Wave and offshore wind are truly bonkers and so they get the highest subsidies of all.”

Reply to  indefatigablefrog
November 2, 2015 7:12 am

When the wind is blowing, it’s cheaper. The problem is that you have to build and run oil based power so that there is something ready to take over when the wind stops blowing.
ON-SHORE wind doesn’t reduce fossil fuel power production.

I have death figures from projects that Greens block and stop.
7.8 million women and children die every year from bad indoor air – from using wood stoves and dung because The Greens prevent any energy.
3.4 million people die every year including 760 000 children. The Greens block the fuel needed to run drinking water and sanitary systems.
850,000 people die every year because refrigerated vaccines cannot be maintained…The Greens block any electrical services and think a 6 solar panels powering a single surgery room light bulb is enough to also run a refrigerator.
2 million women and children die every year and another million go blind because the Greens will not allowed Golden Rice, which is free, to be grown.

Interesting would be how the average life span is affected by those apparently bad circumstances.

A person with a little time and some background in basic engineering can easily compute that a movement which so far has succeeded in banning modern gas extraction in several E.U. countries, closing many many major coal fired power stations, resisting expansion of nuclear and big hydropower, etc etc – is serving the interests of foreign oil and gas exporters.
Unfortunately the dummies who parade in favour of the destruction of E.U. and American energy independence really do believe in all the complete nonsense that they have now been told:
That there is a “big oil” conspiracy to prevent the installation of “free” renewables!!
That fossil fuel derived energy receives larger subsidies than the equivalent energy sourced from renewables!!
That Al Jazeera and Russia Today are trustworthy news outlets that give voice to the oppressed leftist climate truthers.

When an organisation like Al Jazeera promotes the dangers of denialism right minded people should be suspicious. They could not give a toss about global warming but they are interested in destroying the West and the best way to do that is to undermine it’s economies. We should by now be aware that AGW/CC does not have a basis in science and is purely political. The end result is the collapse of Western civilisation as we know it to be replaced with what exactly. The socialists at the UN have not thought that far ahead. When the West is broke there will be nothing to transfer to the poor so how will they be helped? they won’t. From what I have seen the elitists do not have the nous nor the skills to survive in a truly competitive world where survival of the fittest will result in the elites being the first to fail. I wonder have they thought of that and if they have read the blueprint espoused in “Animal Farm” for they should know the pigs eventually lost but importantly the lower classes were still the lower classes and were now worse off than when they started.

If you were an oil state and saw how gullible the western nations are; would you not promote the heck out of reducing CO2/fossil fuel to drive your competitors out of business from self-inflicted wounds (Carbon Tax) so that the price of your oil and your market share would go up.
This is pretty simple Global Economics and protectionism that every country plays and applies tariffs to protect local industries. We even have inter-provincial protectionism in Canada. BC residents get arrested for buying too much wine in Alberta where it is cheaper and taking it back to BC – avoiding paying the higher BC provincial liquor tax.

You can go out into -50 degree weather and perish. There’s no such thing as a -50 degree climate.

They forgot to calculate how many have died because of the climate change UN/countries rules, regulations, and policies put in place. Hard to calculate, but I am sure it is more than 400,000.

The irony of a climate true believer claiming skeptics are involved in a conspiracy theory ideation is entertaining on so many levels.

November 1, 2015 7:43 pm

Let us hope Al Jazeera don’t succeed in their apparent efforts to fan the flames of mindless hatred.

this would have been a much better article if the author knew how to express irony – he seems genuinely upset at this laughable situation

November 1, 2015 7:52 pm

The issue is not climate change killing 400,000 people, it is opportunists like Mehdi Hasan killing brain cells every time he opens his mouth.
Environmental Disasters account for over 5,000,000 deaths a year, that’s just mother nature doing it’s thing. Maybe Medhi might want to look at having Mother Nature fired as the steward of Nature. Of course in some camps that might be considered misogynist or war on women.
The tragedy in all this is that there are serious problems to address. For example about 1.5 million people die from air pollution, yes something actually real and that can be acted upon, but I do not see UN crisis management over that. Instead we have posters of Polar Bears, we like Polar Bears.

Philosophers broadly categorize two kinds of evil:
1) Moral evil, which is done by human actions, and
2) Non-moral evil, which is pain & suffering caused by natural disasters.
The warmists apparently have only one category for evil: moral evil. –i.e. ALL pain & suffering is traced to human actions.

Well, the lawyers will like the sound of that.
“Have you experienced some inconvenient weather, that wasn’t your fault.
Then, we the team at WeatherBlame4U can help attribute that nasty freak weather event to human causes.
Where there’s weather, there’s bother. And where there’s bother there’s blame.
Phone now, for your initial assessment.

Evil requires intent. Natural disasters have no intent, because they’re not sentient beings. Calling a natural disaster “evil”, even with the caveat of “non-moral”, is pretty silly.

Nope, that’s just not true.
merriam-webster~ Evil;
: morally bad
: causing harm or injury to someone
: marked by bad luck or bad events

People in all parts of the world suffer from their ignorance. Those in the Middle East for some reason are particularly vulnerable to conspiracy theories based on polling data.

CAGW is in its death throes:
1) No global warming trend for almost 20 years, despite 30% of all manmade CO2 emissions since 1750 being made over just the last 2o years:
2) NASA just admitted Antarctic land ice has actually been GROWING at 100 gigaton per year since 1992:
3) Arctic Ice Extents have been recovering since 2007 as the AMO moves closer to its 30-year cool cycle starting around 2020:
4) Antarctic Ice Extents have been growing steadily since satellite records began in 1979:
5) The discrepancies and duration between CAGW hypothetical projections vs. reality are already sufficient to disconfirm the CAGW hypothesis:
6) IPCC’s 2013 AR5 report admits there hasn’t been ANY increasing trends of severe weather intensity or frequency for 50~100 years (depending on the phenomenon): hurricanes, cyclones, typhoons, tornadoes, droughts, floods, thunderstorms, tropical storms, sub-tropical storms, hail, etc. (IPCC’s AR5 report chapter 2, pages 200~230)
7) Sea Level Rise stuck at just 7″ per CENTURY since 1807 to present (Jevrejeva et al 2014):
NONE of CAGW’s projections are coming even CLOSE to matching reality, which means it’s a disconfirmed hypothesis.
Leftists with any understanding of the Scientific Method understand CAGW is dead. This stupid upcoming Paris Left-Fest is the last chance for Leftist regimes to steal $trillions more from their citizens before the CAGW hypothesis becomes even more untenable than it already is.
The world doesn’t have too much CO2, it has too little freedom.

Not as long as the politicians want it. Too much fraud and graft to be had.
This 400,000 number is a typical leftist “scare” number. Back in the 1980s and 90s we had the ozone hole and homelessness “scares”. However, if you took their woven entirely from whole cloth numbers, used some elementary school level math and a dollop of common sense, you quickly realized the numbers were pure BS. I remember running the X number of homeless die every second/minute/hour calculations and coming up with the rough equivalent of almost half our population dying per year. But, the media, just like with CAGW numbers, never questioned them.
Science may win the data war on CAGW, but winning the culture war is a whole different thing.

If Al Jazeera were worried about saving lives they would pluck the log out of their own eye. They have been one of the principal promoters of war in the Middle East. Wars they have promoted have cost more than 400,000 lives already. When they have turned Islam into a peaceful religion, then they can talk about the weather.

There are 60 million refugees from warfare of political strife
Political strife is caused by climate change
Therefore, there are now 60 million refugees caused by climate change.

Sorry Stephen, but you clearly don’t understand climate math,
There are 60 million refugees from warfare or political strife
Political strife is caused by climate change
Warfare is caused by climate change
Therefore, there are now 120 million refugees caused by climate change
But refugees stress the economies of the countries they go to. This is called the “feedback effect” and amplifies the direct refugees by 3 to 6 times
Therefore there will be 360 to 720 million refugees caused by climate change by 2050.
The above numbers will be reviewed from time to time, and if the issue has faded from the headlines, the numbers will be adjusted.

November 2, 2015 7:55 am

I did some research and found some startling facts. Every year, thousands of retirees move from northern states to the warmer climate of Florida. These are people who survived perfectly well for about 70 years in cold, snowy weather, but believed the deniers who told them that higher temperatures were nothing to worry about. Within a decade or two, most of them are dead, obviously victims of Geographically Induced Climate Disruption (GICR).
Of course, there’s another explanation. I discovered that people are heading south in droves. I’m not sure what “droves” are, but clearly they’re death traps. After every major disaster or war, there are always reports of people being killed or injured in droves. Just to safe, everyone should pay attention to the scientifical evidence. Avoid warm weather and for God’s sake…stay out of droves.

“The world’s environment is now in a disastrous state – climate change kills more than 400,000 people a year, according to a 2012 report, and costs the world economy an estimated $1.2tn a year.
Media and public interest groups in North America must do much more to rid media of the false information about the climate.“(projection or what !)

dated 09.27.12 and titled : Climate Change Kills 400,000 a Year, New Report Reveals
The PDF referenced was produced by Climate Vulnerability Monitor something organised by DARA (a HR NGO*) and the Climate Vulnerable Forum
The newspaper article said “a study commissioned by 20 of the world’s governments whose nations are most threatened by climate change ”
The report itself says ” The Climate Vulnerability Monitor’s second edition was commissioned
at the November 2011 Ministerial Meeting of the Forum at Dhaka, Bangladesh.”
I note the report features “JOSÉ MARÍA FIGUERES Trustee of DARA, Former President

Strangely Climate Vulnerability Monitor didn’t put out any work or press releases since 2012 but are still active posting alarmist stories on Facebook

If we proceed on the basis that human life has intrinsic or exceptional value, then it must be noted that one-child and selective-child (i.e. pro-choice) policies are the leading causes of premeditated human mortality in the world. Elective abortion and clinical cannibalism cost over 1 million lives annually in America alone. And the science of human evolution from conception is well established and [literally] reproduced by the billions throughout history.

November 2, 2015 8:38 am

Is it climate change or weather that is the concern?
Also why drop catastrophic, anthropogenic, and warming from the lexicon?
That said, human evolution from conception deniers costing over one million lives annually in America alone. In terms of absolute, verifiable numbers, the people who normalized and defend one-child and selective-child (i.e. pro-choice) policies, pose a greater threat to the quality and viability of human life.

November 2, 2015 12:43 pm

Man has not been able to change one weather event let alone global climate.
The climate change that we are experiencing is typical of the Holocene for the past 10,000 years. It is caused by the sun and the oceans. We are currently warming up from the Little Ice Age much as we warmed up from the Dark Ages Cooling Period more than a thousand years ago. No one has come up with a means of controlling the sun and the oceans in such a way so as to stop the climate from changing. We do not even know what the best climate is. If we keep climate the way it is today, the polar ice caps will continue to melt and sea levels will continue to rise until the ice caps have all melted away. If we can force a cooling trend we may cause the premature start of the next ice age and its continental ice sheets which some might object to. To date Man has been unable to change individual weather events let alone alter global climate.
There is no real evidence that CO2 has any effect on climate. There is no such evidence in the paleoclimate record. There is evidence that warmer temperatures cause more CO2 to enter the atmosphere but there is no evidence that this additional CO2 causes any more warming. If additional greenhouse gases caused additional warming then the primary culprit would have to be H2O which depends upon the warming of just the surfaces of bodies of water and not their volume but such is not part of the AGW conjecture.
The AGW theory is that adding CO2 to the atmosphere causes an increase in its radiant thermal insulation properties causing restrictions in heat flow which in turn cause warming at the Earth’s surface and the lower atmosphere. In itself the effect is small because we are talking about small changes in the CO2 content of the atmosphere and CO2 comprises only about .04% of dry atmosphere if it were only dry but that is not the case. Actually H2O, which averages around 2%, is the primary greenhouse gas. The AGW conjecture is that the warming causes more H2O to enter the atmosphere which further increases the radiant thermal insulation properties of the atmosphere and by so doing so amplifies the effect of CO2 on climate. At first this sounds very plausible. This is where the AGW conjecture ends but that is not all what must happen if CO2 actually causes any warming at all.
Besides being a greenhouse gas, H2O is also a primary coolant in the Earth’s atmosphere transferring heat energy from the Earth;s surface. which is mostly H2O, to where clouds form via the heat of vaporization. More heat energy is moved by H2O via phase change then by both convection and LWIR absorption band radiation combined. More H2O means that more heat energy gets moved which provides a negative feedback to any CO2 based warming that might occur. Then there is the issue of clouds. More H2O means more clouds. Clouds not only reflect incoming solar radiation but they radiate to space much more efficiently then the clear atmosphere they replace. Clouds provide another negative feedback. Then there is the issue of the upper atmosphere which cools rather than warms. The cooling reduces the amount of H2O up there which decreases any greenhouse gas effects that CO2 might have up there. In total, H2O provides negative feedback’s which must be the case because negative feedback systems are inherently stable as has been the Earth’s climate for at least the past 500 million years, enough for life to evolve. We are here. The wet lapse rate being smaller then the dry lapse rate is further evidence of H2O’s cooling effects.
A real greenhouse does not stay warm because of the heat trapping effects of greenhouse gases. A real greenhouse stays warm because the glass reduces cooling by convection. This is a convective greenhouse effect. So too on Earth..The surface of the Earth is 33 degrees C warmer than it would be without an atmosphere because gravity limits cooling by convection. This convective greenhouse effect is observed on all planets in the solar system with thick atmospheres and it has nothing to do with the LWIR absorption properties of greenhouse gases. the convective greenhouse effect is calculated from first principals and it accounts for all 33 degrees C. There is no room for an additional radiant greenhouse effect. Our sister planet Venus with an atmosphere that is more than 90 times more massive then Earth’s and which is more than 96% CO2 shows no evidence of an additional radiant greenhouse effect. The high temperatures on the surface of Venus can all be explained by the planet’s proximity to the sun and its very dense atmosphere. The radiant greenhouse effect of the AGW conjecture has never been observed. If CO2 did affect climate then one would expect that the increase in CO2 over the past 30 years would have caused an increase in the natural lapse rate in the troposphere but that has not happened. Considering how the natural lapse rate has changed as a function of an increase in CO2, the climate sensitivity of CO2 must equal 0.0.
The AGW conjecture talks about CO2 absorbing IR photons and then re radiating them out in all directions. According to this, then CO2 does not retain any of the IR heat energy it absorbs so it cannot be heat trapping. What the AGW conjecture fails to mention is that typically between the time of absorption and radiation that the same CO2 molecule, in the lower troposphere, undergoes roughly a billion physical interactions with other molecules, sharing heat related energy with each interaction. Heat transfer by conduction and convection dominates over heat transfer by LWIR absorption band radiation in the troposphere which further renders CO2’s radiant greenhouse effect as a piece of fiction. Above the troposphere more CO2 enhances the efficiency of LWIR absorption band radiation to space so more CO2 must have a cooling effect.
This is all a matter of science.

Check me on this, but if we believe in CAGW and we take it seriously, then shouldn’t we be eliminating our use of fossil fuel in favor of ‘renewable’ or ‘green’ energy sources?
If we were to do this perfectly well then we would probably not actually need any more petroleum, right?
So . . . in conclusion, if this Al-Jazeera reporter knows whence his bread is actually buttered, should he not be ‘in the pocket of big oil’?
I mean, if anyone should be a “climate denier”, it should be the people of the Arabian peninsula and the Persian Gulf region.
Just curious how they’re on the ‘wrong’ side of the debate with regard to their own self-interest. If I were the guy running the country who’s wealth depends on producing oil, I wouldn’t support the news guy spouting this nonsense, never-mind how illogical/unsupportable to say that climate change kills 400,000 people per year.
