Friday funny – Unbalanced by Josh

Josh writes: On Wednesday the BBC’s Newsnight interviewed Emma Thompson on the newsworthy topic of left wing activists protesting about drilling for oil in the Arctic. And refugees. And voting for Jeremy Corbyn, hopeful candidate for the Leadership of the UK Labour Party.

EmmaT_scr

Emma clearly did not have a clue what she was talking about – even Richard Betts, from the UK Met Office, said she was wrong (good on you, Richard). Ed Hawkins, Climate Scientist, also tweeted “what Emma Thompson said was scientifically inaccurate & implausible.”

Sadly Emma had not got the memo on coal not being the ‘dirtiest’ fuel. It isnt, biofuels and wood burning stoves are worse – the Guardian is not very keen on them either.

Newsnight’s Emily Maitlis suggested Emma get herself arrested. Hmm.

Does it really matter how stupid her comments might be. If not challenged on air there are a lot of people who believe them and will vote according.
It is the same problem with the MSM in the USA, did they call the president on his claim of 6-12 degree rise in temperature in Alaska when the average rise is actually very low over the years or the melting of a glacier which has been happening over centuries?
How many times have I heard the 97% issue from the president and others on the MSM when the number is actually under 50%. Lies work when dealing with the public unless challenged by the MSM when spoken.

Your link to the BBC interview brings up an item about the treatment of refugees trying to get into the UK. Since this is currently a highly emotional topic, may I suggest you correct it quickly?

Emma once said this about Tony Blair:

And, I’m sorry, Tony Blair, going around earning money and accruing wealth, someone that was supposed to be a socialist — it is a tragic journey watching that”

ET lives near me in West Hampstead in NW London. I know the street and only the wealthy can afford to live there: houses on the street cost the best part of £2 000 000.
Is it wrong to have an expensive house? No. Is it hypocritical to deride others for being wealthy when you have considerable wealth yourself? Yes.
ET is known in our area for being the ultimate champagne socialist. Oh, and her daughter’s called Gaia.

I wonder if she ever goes around earning money, or if she has accrued wealth.

Normally I’m in favor of home schooling, but in the case of these two, it amounts to child abuse:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/education/educationnews/11397662/Emma-Thompson-and-husband-decide-to-educate-daughter-Gaia-at-home.html
Gaia says school is not for her. Maybe they required her to study math(s) and science.

There are 200 million potential immigrants queueing up to come to Europe, and Thompson’s response is: ” oh, we should take them all – daaarrrling – but not in my road or house….”
It reminds me of another well known champagne solialist, Lady Jay. She condemned private education and said we should all use comprehensive (socialist) schools. But then she sent her children to a private school. At a dinner party the conversation then went:
Q. “Peggy, how can you justify sending your children to the best private school?”
A. “Oh, daaaarrrling, we don’t experiment with OUR OWN children……!”

Well not in her house at least. She is having an extension to her home built, but to home school her daughter. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2944022/Emma-Thompson-home-schools-daughter-girl-says-school-wasn-t-her.html

>>She is having an extension to her home built.
So the house-extension is not for three families of refugees? Now there is a surprise…….
There is nothing quite so hypocritical as a champagne socialist.

She is a well-known thesbian. With a ‘th’. Possibly with a ‘l’ too, but she is not saying….

M,
At the risk of turning WUWT into a tabloid:
https://ca.celebrity.yahoo.com/post/121311459348/emma-thompson-opens-up-about-kenneth-branaghs
Emma forgives her aristocratic former friend and colleague Helena. Everyone has remarried and lived happily ever after. Except that Helena has divorced her horror movie directing husband.
Kenneth not the best ever Henry V, IMO. Nor Olivier. The best Henry V has yet to be played.

When did British fascination with opinionated personality types begin? Is it a post war pattern of behavior or something ancient, handed down over the eons? The Germans refer to the Brits as unique personalities. They see it too.

Emma Thompson is just lip-syncing both Naomi Oreskes and Naomi Klein simultaneously.
. . . she might need surgical lip repair afterward . . .

For those with BBC iPlayer access, full segment here:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0699wls/newsnight-02092015
Begins at 20:42.
Link at top via twitter redirect is a potted extract that has little if any context.
NewsBlight has gone to hell. The BBC as a whole appears to be having severe problems adjusting to post-election political reality. The New Labour project is dead, get over it. Stop manufacturing news and pumping out even more ridiculous propaganda, solely by and for the has-been North London narcoatti.
Please get rid of the slew of lefty pillocks you have accumulated over the past two decades and put your ship in order, a return to the here and now is long overdue. Nobody is interested in some oblique GreenSleaze agenda take on things anymore, least of all the personal opinions of some air head like Emma Thompson. It’s like watching some time-warp back to 70’s fashion and sniggering at wide collars and bell bottoms.
You cannot just decant huge chunks of the Middle East or wherever into Europe. Political and religious turmoil must be dealt with at source, preferably (and ultimately) by those it directly affects. The BBC would do well to stop winding up political tensions by coating everything in its half-baked politically correct slime 24×7. The world beyond Hampstead Heath is not interested in Jeremy Bowen’s opinion or any other correspondent’s take on things. Stop interviewing yourselves, just present the unadulterated facts. Most of those affected would likely far rather enjoy a peaceful future in their countries of birth.
A peaceful, prosperous future it appears the BBC and its band of dial-on-demand PC meat cleavers seek to undermine and denigrate at every possible opportunity! Stop the synthetic celebrity creation and worship, constant hope-sapping blather and tiresome innuendo. Find a positive role or eventually go under. The world does not and cannot revolve around the BBC no matter how much divisive propaganda it pumps out.

Meanwhile the delectable Ms Maitliss flutters her eyelashes as her gob opens and her jaw drops faster than global temperatures this side of an ice age. Women, eh?

She will probably be around to see that statement falsified.
When she was doing the Heathrow Airport new runway thing, I actually felt sorry for her, having been duped so badly. Are these people ever going to get angry that they fell for this crap or are they just going to pretend it never happened, or keep saying it’s going to happen at some point in the future.

Actors and actresses make their living by playing respected historical and fictional characters.
They make their living acting like principled, good people within the country they live in.
Then they visit Cuba for their vacations.
