Guardian / leaked Canadian Government memo

Story submission by Eric Worrall
The Guardian has published excerpts of what it claims is an internal Canadian government memo, which suggests that the Canadian government is far more worried about Climate extremists, than Climate Change.
According to the Guardian;
“The US security establishment views climate change as real and a dangerous threat to national security. But Canada takes a very different view, according to a secret intelligence memo prepared by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP).
The memo, stamped “Canadian eyes only”, repeatedly casts doubt on the causes of climate change – the burning of fossil fuels – and its potential threat.
The 44-page intelligence assessment of Canada’s environmental protest movement was prepared for the government of Stephen Harper, who is expected to roll out new anti-terror legislation.
In the memo, obtained by Greenpeace and seen by the Guardian, the RCMP repeatedly departs from the conclusions of an overwhelming majority of scientists – and the majority of elected leaders in the international arena – that climate change is a growing threat to global security.
Instead, the memo on the “anti-Canada petroleum movement” presents continued expansion of oil and gas production as an inevitability, and repeatedly casts doubt on the causes and consequences of climate change.”
The memo, at least the excerpts published by the Guardian, suggest that the green extremists try to avoid casualties when conducting criminal acts. But since the radical greens have no problem with using improvised explosive devices, arson, sabotage, theft and break and enter in pursuit of their anti-petroleum agenda, a credible threat exists to the safety of both the members of the groups conducting illegal acts, and to oil workers who operate the facilities targeted by the green terrorists.
The fact that this internal memo was leaked to Greenpeace, suggests that green activists may have successfully penetrated at least some of the Canadian government agencies tasked with maintaining public safety – a development which seems likely to increase the concern of Canadian authorities.
I understand the sentiment, but what will really hurt employment universally is expensive energy, declining wages and tax base, and the elite having their snouts in the shrinking trough. The dipwads seem impervious to this sort of reality.
Stamped “Canadian Eyes Only”
Call me skeptical, but I smell a hoax.
Agree, the Guardian has been set-up
Smells like a Gleick.

Re the threat to burn houses down:
I am aware of two incidents where this actually happened:
One was the fire-bombing of the Calgary Petroleum Club.
Another was the fire-bombing of a friend’s house who was a retired oilsands executive. In the latter case, if anyone was home they could have been killed – the heat was so intense the doorknobs melted.
These global warming alarmists are badly misinformed AND some of them are imbalanced and dangerous.
People like Al Gore and Jim Hansen are inciting violence when they spread their alarmist nonsense.
There is no credible scientific basis for the alleged global warming crisis. In reality, the global warming crisis does not exist.
Fossil fuels keep those living in northern climes from freezing and starving to death.
It IS that simple.
I wish global warming was true, then Canada would produce more food, even two crops per year. AND WE WOULD HAVE LOWER ENERGY BILLS
Mr. MacRae, please don’t talk about ‘inciting to violence’. Adults don’t get a ‘get out of jail free’ card because of words. Unless of course you are a leftist…
Huh?
Not sure what you are saying AutoGuy.
When the Gore’s and Hansen’s create false alarm, they incite imbeciles to do violence.
The problem with violence is that it is too easy for imbeciles to do, and too difficult for geniuses to undo.

“Save The Climate” ?????? (on balloon)
Didn’t know it was at risk. Should I bang out a few more wooden swords? Happy to help. /s
The Indian government has banned Greenpeace….
I believe the New Zealand government may also have removed Greenpiss’ charitable status but there are very few statesmen elsewhere in the world and in europe they have completely gone missing.
Also, this news……………..

I am not sure what material was used for making balloons before the advent of fossil fuel byproducts. I am pretty sure the environmentalists have no idea as well. But that’s what they should have used if they had any integrity and more than 2 or 3 brain cells.
Of course it is a good thing they did not use a wood burning stove for the fuel, that could have been bad. They could have used batteries charged by solar and wind. That solution would never have gotten off of the ground and thereby been much safer than using dangerous and vile fossil fuels.
Montgolfier brothers succeeded in launching the first manned ascent, carrying Étienne into the sky in December 1783. They constructed a globe-shaped balloon of sackcloth with three thin layers of paper inside.

I certainly hope it is true. Up here, we are getting fed up with foreign money being poured into green protest groups trying to stop Canadian resource development.
Many have a track record, such as:
– oil protests in NB
– behaviour on Burnaby Mountain
– The Family, who burned a resort in CO, one perpetrator was hiding in Canada
– known eco-vandal caught in BC when buying tools like chain cutters, someone recognized him
– Greenpeace and its even worse offshoots like Sea Shepard
– the ELF, several members discovered convicted of arson, ELF claimed responsibility for destroying a radio station tower near Snohomish WA.
As for the leak, many government employees are strong environmentalists, but careless is a possibility, cabinet ministers and their staff have inadvertently left confidential documents in places they shouldn’t have.
The Arctic is warming at twice the rate of the rest of the world
Quite simply not true, unless you say 2 x 0 = 0.
2*0=2 ?
I think RoO is saying it’s true if the rate is zero.
The Official Iceland Temperature Series

The Guardian article says that the Thomson Reuters Globe and Mail was first to break the story. Since Reuters is very much involved in promoting Big Green and its puppet Trudeau, it is hardly surprising insiders would do anything to flog the global warming cause. Meanwhile the same are not questioning the carbon footprint of Washington and NATO ops nor wondering why the New Great Game on Eurasia is all about Oil and Gas…
Can’t recommend this site highly enough. Greg Renouf is doing a great job connecting the anarchist/Deep Green connection to the non-Canadian money pits:

if Trudeau gets into power in the fall….Canada is sunk ….Trudeau has drank the cool-aid
Latest poll shows him (Trudeau) sinking. But you never know.
How many people have time to spend 10-15 minutes on the phone when it randomly rings, interrupts your workday and a mechanical voice asks to participate in a poll?
Polls target poll-people, who are underemployed, have lots of time to waste and are flattered that ANYONE wants to know their opinion.
Poll-people are easily impressed by the politics of leftist alienation, as preached by young Trudeau’s airhead Liberals and the equally vacuous NDP.
Does it ever strike you that government efforts to “Get Out the Vote” are counterproductive?
It would be far better for our democracy if there was a powerful campaign at election time that stated:
“Stay home – you’re ‘way too stupid to vote!”
🙂
“Save the climate” say the mooks burning gallons of fuel to lift their balloon a few feet off the ground for absolutely no practical purpose at all. It’s easy to spot these people. These are the people that are confused by roundabouts and four-way stops, they complain about $3.00 per gallon gasoline while sipping their $4 Starbucks latte, they have fine art degrees and everything they know about physics came from a comic book.
I like the Guardian headline – “Canadian mounties’ secret memo casts doubt on climate change threat”.
No doubt here, the threat comes from the environ-‘mental’ groups. On this issue they are crazy, rather than burn fossil fuels they would rather bankrupt us into fuel poverty and send us back to the dark ages or ‘year zero’.
This will do nothing for ‘climate change’ but just cause a collapsed industry, economy and death. The poor and vulnerable being the most at risk.
I understand many of them firmly believe in their cause having been hyped and radicalised by some stupid scientists, knee-jerk bandwagon media types, rich people and politicians with their snouts in the green subsidy trough and politicians after votes.
Do they not realise how much ‘decarbonisation’ and the billions spent to subsidise these inefficient green technologies are costing, let alone all the hangers on or ‘climate change’ ‘officials’ we are all paying the wages of.
The Earth needs saving from radicalisation and stupidity, not ‘climate change.
Rant over.
Perhaps they had some help. The Great SIM Heist article in The Intercept details how US and British Intelligence agencies coordinated the penetration of people, systems and networks at Gemalto, the world’s largest manufacturer of SIM cards for cell phones. As a result they were able to steal the encryption keys for several billion phones (yes, that’s billion, with a “B” — Gemalto produces 2 billion SIM cards a year), allowing them to snoop voice, text, and data communications.
We already know the NSA snoops on government officials at every level, even those of our long-time allies. There is no chance the Canadian government could create and circulate a memo of this type without the NSA getting hold of a copy. Does anyone really expect the “most transparent administration in history” to refrain from making use of such information if it serves a political goal?
The Canadian parliament is is pushing though new anti-terrorism legislation in the wake of the attacks on Parliament Hill and the National Cenotaph last October. Naturally, environmental groups are expressing concerns that the new legislation will impact them by coining phrases such “Caring about the climate is not a crime in Canada” then going on with the usual palaver about how it’s saving the planet. This explains the timing of the leak, if in fact it is one. I’ve been grinding my way through the proposed legislation and while having limited concerns about the government overstepping, I wouldn’t call C-51 anywhere near as onerous as the Patriot Act.
The news media very carefully ignores the clear exemptions set out in C-51. It wouldn’t sell advertising if it was seen as benign.
More evidence of climate extremism credible threat to the economy;

Read the comments! – and I haven’t seen link from WUWT prior to this.
It’s also possible the government leaked the”internal memo” giving Greenpeace more rope with which to hang itself.
Even a majority of Quebecois onside.

The memo, stamped “Canadian eyes only”
How amatuerishly Glieckensian a stitch-up is that?
“Canadian eyes only – SECRET” is a real security level. Most nations have something similar. But just “Canadian eyes only”, you are correct, that is not a real security level.
I checked the actual figure. It is “PROTECTED A//CANADIAN EYES ONLY”. While I can’t definativly state that that is not a real security level, I would have to say that it is highly improbable. Why on earth would something be “Canadian Eyes Only” if it was only Protected A. Protected A is typicaly used for personal privacy issues, not national security.
That balloon is the first accurate icon that Greenpeace has ever produced: “Save the Climate” is supported only by hot air.
The following link details how most of the attacks in Canada for the last several decades , have been carried out by enviornmental groups. This even applies to periods where we had active military in a warzone. We are led to believe that it is foreign trained or influenced fighters working for the underprivileged, it turns out that the people who attack our country are in fact heavily represented at all levels of politics and social discourse, and just unhappy they can’t get their way.

I don’t think Mother Earth is worried at all, been there done that.

Maybe the Greenpeace-Guardian climate terrorists have a right to aspire to a “Climatic State” equivalent to their Islamic counterparts new fiefdom in Syria and Iraq. Somewhere in Siberia or Antarctica would be most suitable – locales which will soon become warm and habitable if all the climate models are to be believed. Radicalised climate warmists would then have somewhere to call home.
Siberia isn’t for sale, lot of oil there, it might come handy one day, yes they have a bit of cash flow problem now, but while Emperor of Russia sold Alaska to president Andrew Johnson, Mr. Putin has different ideas.
http://avalon.law.yale.edu/19th_century/treatywi.asp
He might declare the treaty as legally invalid, since the person selling (Emperor of all the Russias) is nowhere in the treaty mentioned by his name, Александр Николаевич Романов.
he might even repay whole of ‘seven million two hundred thousand dollars in gold’, while usage of the said dominion may more than reimburse for the since accrued interest.
Well Antarctica it is then – perhaps Steyn could be the first pioneer-settler since he’s so convinced its warming down there. Or he could keep warmer by stretching his statistical blanket a bit further…
As a Canadian I must say that anything that will stop the enviro’s from turning back our progress as a nation is a good thing. The bigger the fist coming down on them the better. I’m sick to death of their earth-worship and anti-energy death cult stance.
I totally agree, being an Albertan
When the NDP won seats in Quebec during the last election it was more of a backlash against the “Separatists”. But those votes could easily go Liberal, I hope the Conservatives are prepared for that. I don’t think Mulcair will have the same success as Layton did.
this is the one lie the socialists will never give up…..climate/fossil fuel relation.. Never. Without it no international personal carbon tax. Without the tax, no end to private property.
