WUWT – 2014 in review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2014 annual report for this blog.

About 2,500,000 people visit MoMA in New York every year. This blog was viewed about 44,000,000 times in 2014. If it were an exhibit at MoMA, it would take about 18 years for that many people to see it.

The busiest day of the year was September 16th with 344,980 views. The most popular post that day was Obama’s Lonely Climate Summit – world leaders are staying home.

Bet Jimbo’s integrity, immense knowledge and modesty means he’ll sit back quietly and won’t add a single comment to this thread. Keep up the skeptic obsession Jimbo. Your regular contributions with links to archives and references is invaluable. A role model to our belief in seeking the truth.
Happy New Year all.

How do I compare this happy finding of 44 million views to that other happy finding from all those polls that hardly anyone finds global warming of interest anymore?

Of interest, or worth urgent and ruinous and futile and contra-productive “action” by TPTB? Which is what Warmism is promoting as continuously and loudly as it can, to keep the arterial tap open?

Those of us with a non New York centric view of the world had to look up MoMA. It doesn’t just roll off the tip of the tongue. In any event Congratulations Anthony for your never ending success. It is, of course, always helpful to be right which you are also successful at.

Concratulations WUWT , I suspect the lurkers that visit WUWT are closet skeptics trapped in the political correct cAGW “MSM” and other political institutions. They come to this site to be informed and not get caught in warmist silliness.
Great work negating the “cAGW” fear narrative in all its forms.

Happy New Year to all you skeptics, deniers, warmists, CAGW proponents, 97%’ers, Petition Project signers, trolls, maroons, climate change scientists, physicists, IPCC’ers, laypeople, politicians, lurkers, dropouts, posters, and all others who contribute to WUWT. May the truth win out and be obvious to you all eventually.
Thanks so much Anthony, may this new year be even better for you and yours.

Meanwhile, wise Snowy Owls are migrating further south “as their more recent habitats become too cold and barren to maintain their usual food supply” (my words). (The words of the post are that it puzzles scientists!)

Yes to all of that, but also to the most talented and dedicated mods I have ever seen on any site. Cheers to you guys, and they don’t even have to be really loud cheers, either. Anthony can hear us now, and that’s some of the best news for the year now gone.

December 31, 2014 8:16 am

Thanks for another great year Anthony. Do you have any indication that there is anyone in the Obama administration , the EPA , the NASA gang or the MSM who is regularly paying attention to what goes on here?.
You have provided a terrific bulwark against the CAGW propagandists – the world will owe you a great vote of thanks when their house of cards finally collapses. ( About 2020 I would estimate)

Let’s hope so, Dr. Page. Let us hope they are reading with comprehension. Most, sadly, have by now hearts too hard to pump enough oxygen to their brains to allow their understanding to be illuminated, but, there may be one or two…… reading here……

This site is a miraculous demonstration of democracy in action. The “miraculous” part is that the feeble-minded have not driven off serious scientific intellects. Congratulations for that marvelous mix where “truth will out” goes to Anthony’s vision and perseverance as well as his dedicated moderators.

Just thought I’d get my final post in before 2014 closes – Happy New Year to the WUWT Team and all your readers, especially the many contributors!

December 31, 2014 9:05 am

I’ve noted articles elsewhere with hundreds, some with thousands, of comments. Many of those are of the type “right mate” or “your an idiot” {spelled as I have just done}. These seem to be on posts that appear just once or twice a week and a person will make a many comments and add nothing of value. Cheapness by the dozen.
The active commenters on WUWT, and most others, do add value. I learn every day. Thanks to all of them.
While I do not have scientific contributions to make, I do usually try to be helpful by answering questions, providing links, sometimes a bit of humor, and a few criticisms.
I thank A.W. and WUWT for this opportunity.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!

… and you ARE helpful, John H. Hultquist. Very. Were it not for the congenial atmosphere created by the worthwhile contributions of such generous-spirited, thoughtful, and admirably succinct, commenters such as you, the atmosphere of WUWT would become brutally toxic (and have FAR fewer readers).

Happy New Year to everyone at WUWT. Enjoy your evening and don’t put any rotten ice in your drinks. 😉

December 31, 2014 10:25 am

Anthony does it right: plenty of new articles posted every day. Whenever I click on WUWT I know I will find something new and interesting.
Glad to see all of Anthony’s supporters here. It would have been nice to see a few of our Warmist friends chime in. Licking their wounds, maybe? If so, my condolences. It’s tough trying to debate without good supporting evidence.
Also, it should be mentioned that there have been well over one million reader comments, in only eight years! That metric is hard to argue with.
With so many comments under every article, the truth gets sifted from fiction pretty quickly. Both commenters and lurkers get a feel for what is credible, and what’s not. And as always, Planet Earth is the final arbiter.

Well, there does exist quite a few people who are incapable of original thought, normally these sort of people get brainwashed by the latest lefty agenda salesmen because that way it doesn’t involve actual thinking. I am happy to have discovered this blog, although it’s a bit difficult to follow the maths. I am grateful that there is a forum for sensible examination of this ecological stuff.
cheers
best for the 2015

“Who had the most post in moderation?”
That would be interesting to find out.
I suspect it would be someone who comments on the politics more than the science and who isn’t from the USA. That person would trip up the alerts regularly.

Your listing of ‘237 countries in all!’ sent me on a search, as IIRC most country stats are closer to 200.
Found this.
249 Country Codes in ISO 3166-1
Many organizations use short two- or three-letter “country codes” to represent different countries or nationalities. Often, these codes are based on ISO 3166-1, a standard specification of codes published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). These codes, like us for the United States, bz for Belize, and iq for Iraq (there’s also a separate set of three-letter codes) are perhaps most famously used for internet domain names, such as http://somewebsite.jp for websites based in Japan. Based on data from the U.N., they exclude some unrecognized or partially unrecognized states, but they include pretty much everything else imaginable, from independent countries, to dependent territories, to uninhabited island territories – there’s even a code for Antarctica!
U.N. Members: 193
U.N. Observer States: 2
States With Partial Recognition: 2
Inhabited Dependent Territories: 45
Uninhabited Territories: 6
Antarctica: 1
Total: 249

So who were the ‘dozen slackers?
Happy to hear you can now more clearly hear our thanks. Thanks also to the MOD’s on staff that have to check these many comments.
