Climate craziness of the week: climate scientist presented as a God, like Mao and Kim Il-sung?

This picture looks a lot like some murals we’ve seen in the past to deify “heros of some revolution”.  Compare the photos below.

Jo Nova writes:

A friend at Curtin University, Western Australia reports that a new mysterious and imposing mural appeared on the facade. It is as if passers-by can look through the bricks and see a Saint-of-Science himself working.

The words on the plaque (which must be something like 5m wide) read “Inside our walls Professor Richard Warrick is continuing the climate change research that led to a Nobel Peace Prize. “

Now compare that mural to some others seen through history:

Makes you wonder “what were they thinking?” at Curtin University?

Jo Nova has the story here.

If there is a greenhouse in there then he must be measuring how much faster plants grow with 395 ppm CO2, versus less CO2, although that is already well known and is not leading edge stuff.

Anyone with a proper amount of modesty and humility would never allow their name and image to be so used.

I just posted the following at Jo’s site:
This looks fake. Can you confirm? Why break bricks, and in a haphazard manner? Then put a very formal rectangle for the sign? On the left edge of the sign, the brick pattern can be seen underneath.

When your website is on a plaque, you have reached the peak of your academic career.

And beneath the same photo in their facility brochure:
“… and here is Richard, gardening. Doesn’t he look happy? Just one of the many lovely things you can do in Happy Hills Home for the Aged.
Registered Nurses on site.
Call us today!”
… not terribly impressive.

Is the sign implying that Warrick “won” a Nobel Peace Prize? Or, in the same manner that Mann “won” it, his work helped others (IPCC+Gore) to win?
See: http://news.curtin.edu.au/media-releases/internationally-recognised-climate-scientist-joins-curtin-university/
From the website: “In 2007, Professor Warrick’s contributions to the IPCC Assessments were recognised through sharing the Nobel Peace Prize with former American Vice-President Al Gore and other selected IPCC authors.” [+emphasis]

“Inside our walls Professor Richard Warrick is continuing the climate change research that led to a Nobel Peace Prize. “

Let me fix that for ya.

“Inside our walls Professor Richard Warrick is continuing the climate change research that led to a Ig Nobel Prize for improbable research. “

A good post. It neatly illustrates some of the moral and intellectual poverty of agitation for climate alarm. These are dark times, and the lights are going out all over academia.

Since he’s presented in a God like manner I have a simple prayer.
Our Co2, which art in the heavens,
Damned be thy name,
Thy power be gone,
Emissions be none,
On Earth as as well as in heaven,
Give us this day our daily rations,
And forgive us our emissions,
As we forgive those who emit against us,
and lead us not into electrification,
but deliver us from coal’s evils,
For his is the kingdom, the power and the Al Glorey for ever and ever, Carbon.

Richard Warrick Biography
When it comes to climate change, Professor Richard Warrick’s research is leading the way. As part of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), he shared a Nobel Peace Prize with former U.S. Vice President Al Gore and other selected IPCC authors in 2007.

Oh really!

IPCC Statement about the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize
“The prize was awarded to the IPCC as an organization, and not to any individual associated with the IPCC. Thus it is incorrect to refer to any IPCC official, or scientist who worked on IPCC reports, as a Nobel laureate or Nobel Prize winner. It would be correct to describe a scientist who was involved with AR4 or earlier IPCC reports in this way: “X contributed to the reports of the IPCC, which was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007.””

What does their Nobel Peace Prize actually mean? I only ask because despite being nominated several times Mahatma Gandhi never got the prize. If ever there was a symbol of non-violence and peace he’s ya man. Maybe he was a closet war monger. :-p

Inside our walls Professor Richard Warrick, unless he’s a complete psychopath, will have occasional moments of doubt about what he’s doing or about to do (just like every other Nobel Prize winner).

I think you missed on this part. These type of people have no doubts on that score. Here is where smoking a little marijuana can be useful. Slip the guy a brownie perhaps. That can stimulate a ton of reflective thoughts, although if successful it might take the guy a few years to get over all the bs stored in his inner thoughts. He may not feel like working for awhile.

Does this “saint” of Catastrophism hope to rise to Mannian heights?
He is off to a great start, no satirist could have scripted this heavy handed propaganda, complete with the fake Nobel.

Pretty sad, especially since he is claiming to be a recipient of a Nobel Peace Prize. Its the IPCC that was awarded this prize abd the IPCC has stated that the contributors is not to claim THEY were awarded it. And even if HE had been awarded the Peace Prize, it has nothing to do with SCIENCE.

The Lambeyeque people of pre-Spanish Peru built man-made ‘mountains’ so large that the later Spanish thought they were natural geographic features. Took huge resource. The purpose was to control / predict the climate, specifically the terrible flooding in their territory that occurred at certain points of the El-Nino / La-Nina cycles. They thought that weather came from mountains, and that the elite atop their own mountains would be able to control it. This elite lived like gods, with everything they needed brought up to them, until of course the next flood. Then they and all their palaces atop the ‘mountains’ were burned. It seems we still pour big money and resource into ‘mountains’ that are supposed to predict (models) or control (emissions reduction) climate. Very fortunately, we’ve moved on from burning folks. But when, as seems increasingly likely from model performance, the climate elite of our own time are seen to have failed, many will wish their pictures were not up on a wall, or the web, or anywhere.

That which progressive scientists would destroy, they “reform.” Top-down agricultural policies have resulted in mass starvation in the case of Mao (pictured), North Korea, Stalin, and others. In this, WUWT has made an accurate and real comparison with other agricultural reformers.
Here is the current UN version of mass murder through agricultural policy:
Paradigm Shift Urgently Needed In Agriculture
UN Agencies Call for an End to Industrial Agriculture & Food System

A rising chorus from UN agencies on how food security, poverty, gender inequality and climate change can all be addressed by a radical transformation of our agriculture and food system.

To Jimbo:
You wrote: “What does their Nobel Peace Prize actually mean?”
Your answer: not much. Early on, the Nobel committee clearly
took their responsibilities seriously. For example, there were
years where they took the step of not awarding a Peace
Prize. (For example, 1966, 1967, 1972). But, the Peace Prize
has been devalued by awarding it for silly things, to silly
organizations, etc.
1929. Awarded to F.B. Kellogg, for the Kellogg-Briand pact,
which outlawed war as an instrument of policy. The pact worked,
too–as long as nobody wanted to have a war. That was about 2
years.
1973. Joint award to Henry Kissinger & Le Duc Tho, for a
negotiated peace agreement to end the Vietnam war. That
worked, foo, for about 2 years, until North Vietnam decided to
invade South Vietnam and forcibly annex it.
1994. Joint award to Yasser Arafat, Yitzak Rabin, & Shimon
Peres. For “a political act which called for great courage on
both sides”? Peace hasn’t broken out between Israel and
the Palestinians, last I looked.
2007. The well-known joint award to Al Gore and the IPCC.
2009. To Barack Obama, “for his extraordinary efforts to
strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between
peoples.” This is perhaps the silliest of all. By the Nobel
organization’s own criteria, nominations close on the first of
February. At that point, Barack Obama had been in office for
all of 11 days. He accomplished “extraordinary efforts” in
just 11 DAYS?. This was simply meant as
a poke in the eye for ex-President Bush. And President
Obama’s record of using automated drone killing machines,
bombing Libya, etc., does not seem to qualify him for any
kind of peace award.

You know, since the change of government in Australia that was to end the funding of all this warming fiction, Aussie cli scis have stepped up the campaign. I’ve never seen so much climate crap come out of Oz. This is definitely being supported by the bunch that were kicked out of government and vowed to continue the fight. Ship-of-Fools might be expanded to take in the entire country of CAGW warriors. Where are they getting the cash for this? Hasn’t the government cooled this funding off yet? It seems like a Down Under disease. Comon’ you once independent spirits down there that we all admired. Get on your horses and do something about this intellectual plague – stop paying for it.
