The White House gets into the 'polar vortex' climate change blame business

Watch John Holdren struggle to explain  the “waviness” of the circumpolar vortex aka the ‘polar vortex’ in today’s news cycle. Also, he says:

“If you’ve been hearing that extreme cold spells like the one we’re having in the United States now disprove global warming, don’t believe it,”

“The fact is that no single weather episode can either prove or disprove global climate change.”

From the video description:

President Obama’s Science and Technology Advisor, Dr. John Holdren, explains the polar vortex in 2 minutes—and why climate change makes extreme weather more likely going forward. Learn more at http://wh.gov/climate-change.

Seems they had to rush this to press so as to not to miss the news cycle before the cold air went away. Watch, and be sure to have your air sickness bag handy.

I’m too busy at work right now, so I’ll leave readers to point out the weaknesses.

J Herbst, I believe that much of Europe will be hit by severe winter weather just after the middle of the month. That’s when they will blame global warming.

With a loopy polar jet, pools of warm water set up highs (sometimes blocking highs) that make the jet loop up and over the high which then become cold loops as the jet slides down into southern latitudes, bringing cold air to our homes. As well, loops that go the other way and invade the Arctic set up warm incursions that feel like a heat wave in winter. So it makes sense that Germany may be sweltering while the midwest of the America’s is shivering.

You might right in title, but as the science and technology adviser to the official POTUS, he has and uses power.
Look at how the Czars have done in this administration…..
Are they official?

I’m blaming all those new German, Chinese and Indian coal plants. As well as George W Bush. or something.

Wikipedia is also excited about the storm. The first revision to include a section “Climate Change” is by user “WNT”:
“Paradoxically, the extreme cold weather in much of the USA could actually be the result of global warming”…

Gail,
Their own words (Holdren, Ehrlich & Ehrlich) are spine chilling commentary on their megalomania to control the planet and enforce their own enviro-facist version of ecotopia.
Thanks for the info,

My current POTUS cut his teeth in the Chicago machine.
It is all He “knows”, the decisions (political) have been made by his crew.
Now he is in the deep end of the pool, just trying to get out alive, the sharks smell the blood.
Not sure his opponents would fare better.
Its gonna be a bloodbath.
One can hope, right ?

I think if Tiny Tim was alive today he would have a position in the present administration. Those children must all have problems today from that experience. I think one of them looks like a little Michael Mann.

Why don’t these guys JUST come out and say it, I just *know* they want to … along these lines:
“… we control the horizontal … we control the vertical …”

and skip pu ss y-footing around with all the two-faced, mush-minded “we’re only here to help you” propaganda BS …

I was going to make a similar post yesterday about exactly that. In 1974, the US/Globe was also stuck in a bitterly cold winter cycle, certainly was true for the UK as I recall. What I want to know is what was the Sun doing then?

I recall not too many years ago British scientivists gravely warning that the little children of London will never experience snow in that great city in their lifetimes, because of global warming. Now, the settled science is resettled, and it turns out that more snow further south is to be expected. In related news, Oceana at now war with Eurasia, no longer Eastasia…

Janice, this man is a sweet, kind, funny, HANDSOME, gentle giant intelligent degreed farmer that has swept me completely off my feet. AND he knows what “regression” and “correlation” means! Along with linear trend, running averages, and dihydrogen monoxide (LOL). Plus he wants, needs, appreciates, and seeks warmer, not colder temperatures, and CO2! Potatoes do rather poorly without those things. I am blest beyond blest and have to be, must be, the luckiest woman on Earth for someone like me, a nerdy elf, to capture the attention of someone like him.

Oh, Pamela, I have tears in my eyes I am so happy for you. So happy. You DESERVE him. Whether he deserves a lovely, bright, caring, FUN, person like you is the real question, imo. You tell him that your WUWT “family” told you to tell him to treat you like the princess that you are.
Keep us posted. #(;)) I’m guessing next July… after school ends for the year…… . (wink) Farmers do not mess around. Once they carefully evaluate all the factors involved, they do not hem and haw, they act. (and DOES he fly fish?)

But at its root, the first cause is CO₂ (carbon dioxide) … the most powerful element in the known universe, it causes everything.

CO2 is a compound, not an element.
Carbon, the compound, because of its balanced 4 valence, able to act as either oxydizing or reducing agent, and form large stable compounds, may well be the most powerful element. You’re mostly structured from it, for example.

Didn’t you mean to say, Carbon, the element?

Since a warm Arctic causes the polar vortex to weaken and move south then that must mean that cold air in the Arctic with lots of sea ice strengthens it and locks it in place. The only possible conclusion is that the cold invasions of polar air throughout recent history were simply figments of our imagination. I sure am glad it was a lot warmer in the 60s and 70s than I remembered.

Carbon. The curse of the universe. Just think how much better all of us carbon-based life forms would be without Carbon. It’s even in our pencils! How much more advanced would we be without pencils and what they’ve produced? We need even more carbon regulations to erase all the evil that carbon has produced!
(Somehow my “sarc/tag” was erased.)

Rep. Peter DeBlazio OR also felt compelled to open his big bazoo on the topic:
http://www.breitbart.com/Breitbart-TV/2014/01/08/Dem-Rep-Rails-Against-Global-Warming-Skeptics-Blathering-Idiots
CAUTION: May induce strong nausea….. for 3 min 42 sec.
From Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_DeFazio
Early life, education, and pre-congressional career
DeFazio was born in Needham, Massachusetts, a suburb of Boston.[1] He credits his great-uncle with shaping his politics; as a boy, that great-uncle almost never said “Republican” without including “bastard” at the end (or “bastud,” as it usually sounds in the Boston accent).[2] He served in the United States Air Force from 1967 to 1971.[3] He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Tufts University in 1969[1] and a Master of Arts degree from the University of Oregon in 1977.[1]

The bullshiite artiste from Massachusetts, now Oregon, is academically qualified to defend the unproven hypothesis of ‘(man made) global warming’ …. soley by ad hominem attack?? Such is the nature of the entrenched political support for our pseudo-scientific opponents.

John Holdren should have used a clip from this Greenpeace video in his presentation to prove his point. Maybe some Youtuber will do a funny remake combining these two videos. That would be hilarious.
