The White House gets into the 'polar vortex' climate change blame business

Watch John Holdren struggle to explain  the “waviness” of the circumpolar vortex aka the ‘polar vortex’ in today’s news cycle. Also, he says:

“If you’ve been hearing that extreme cold spells like the one we’re having in the United States now disprove global warming, don’t believe it,”

“The fact is that no single weather episode can either prove or disprove global climate change.”

From the video description:

President Obama’s Science and Technology Advisor, Dr. John Holdren, explains the polar vortex in 2 minutes—and why climate change makes extreme weather more likely going forward. Learn more at http://wh.gov/climate-change.

Seems they had to rush this to press so as to not to miss the news cycle before the cold air went away. Watch, and be sure to have your air sickness bag handy.

I’m too busy at work right now, so I’ll leave readers to point out the weaknesses.

I see, the next little ice age is caused by us.
Where is the promised warm temperatur? I think it’s in the deep sea and is scared to come out.

Hearken,
The cooling is a challenge to belief in warming from the release of CO2.
A challenge to faith needs to be resisted.
Steadfastness provides the strength to hold on to the truth.
Thus, this event is proof that Gaia is fortifying the Greens.
Rejoice!
The science is settled.

But at its root, the first cause is CO₂ … the most powerful element in the known universe, even more powerful than Kryptonite, it causes everything.
(there, that’s what I meant to say)

Just out of interest the polar vortex described as early as 1853.

Abstract
Glaciochemical time series developed from Summit, Greenland, indicate that the chemical composition of the atmosphere was dynamic during the Holocene epoch. Concentrations of sea salt and terrestrial dusts increased in Summit snow during the periods 0 to 600, 2400 to 3100, 5000 to 6100, 7800 to 8800, and more than 11,300 years ago. The most recent increase, and also the most abrupt, coincides with the Little Ice Age. These changes imply that either the north polar vortex expanded or the meridional air flow intensified during these periods, and that temperatures in the mid to high northern latitudes were potentially the coldest since the Younger Dryas event.

John Holdren and Paul Ehrlich famously lost a bet with Julian Simon (a bet that the price of five key metals would be higher in 1990 than in 1980.) I fully expect his predictions to follow that illustrious tradition. Unfortunately, I am riding a wagon he helps to steer.

USDA Internal Handbook Advises Animal-Identification Staff to Address Farmers “at the Sixth Grade Level”
The USDA’s confidential “NAIS How-To Handbook,” intended for non-public distribution to Federal and State NAIS personnel, reveals an aggressive campaign to implement NAIS in the face of farmer opposition by strictly controlling communications, manipulating media coverage, concealing the original NAIS program documents, and discrediting opponents.

CRINGE, it is a molecule. Carbon is an element. Diamonds are a girl’s best friend. Coal is a tree’s best friend. And CO2 is a magic gas straight from a unicorn’s rear end.

You deniers just don’t understand the science. You’re probably creationists. Let me explain this to you. I’ll use small words so that you can understand. All bad weather is caused by global warming, whether that weather is warm or cold. If rainfall causes a flood, it’s caused by global warming. If rainfall causes bumper crops it’s a random weather event. This is because western culture values profits over people. People in the west have become alienated from nature and consumerism has put the earth out of BALANCE. Global warming is mother nature fighting back against corporate greed. And you don’t fight back with pleasant weather, therefore good weather can’t be caused by global warming and bad weather must be. QED

So a shallower pressure gradient, now has the magical property of pushing a heavy, dense air mass, further than a steeper pressure gradient would.
Must be similar to the magical property of CO2, that amplifies its IR properties.
Good thing the globe stopped warming quite a while ago, so we don’t have to worry about magical properties, that only the “experts” truly understand.

MoveOn.Org the left wing activist group that supports all things left is getting in on the rebuttal act too. Obviously the NA frigid weather has all the warmists mobilizing to fight the increasing doubt of the populace.
Here’s an email they are circulating to their followers:
Dear MoveOn member,
It’s freezing out! Literally. And the frigid weather most of the country is facing—with windchills still as low as minus 50 degrees F in some places—has brought out the climate deniers yet again.
The cold weather we’re experiencing is originating in the polar vortex—a whirlwind of Arctic air in which temperatures drop when the North Pole is pointed away from the sun.(1) The Arctic is actually warming twice as fast as much of the Earth, and the jet streams that trap its frigid air are weakening. Cold snaps like the one we’re experiencing are a normal part of winter weather—and some climate scientists think the melting Arctic is actually making this sort of “polar vortex” event more likely.(2)
But while the vortex science may sound complicated, one thing is crystal clear: global warming is very real—and hugely dangerous. That’s why we’ve partnered with our friends at Forecast the Facts to give members the proof they need to counter Fox News’ climate change-denying talking points.
Can you share our graphic today so your friends know how climate change deniers’ claims are full of hot air?
http://front.moveon.org/the-polar-vortex-3-reasons-climate-deniers-claims-are-full-of-hot-air/
After you share the graphic, sign Forecast the Facts’ petition demanding that The New York Times follow the lead of The Los Angeles Times and stop publishing the letters of climate deniers.
Click here to share the image with your friends (or just forward this email).
Thanks for all you do.

“The fact is that no single weather episode can either prove or disprove global climate change.”
——————————–
Nothing can prove or disprove global climate change warming just as the existence of god can be neither proved or disproved. Global warming exists beyond the ken of science – that is why we need the AGW priesthood to read the signs and wonders and inform us lowly mortals how we may be ab$olved of our climate sins.

So let’s keep it simple John (BTW love the wavey colour vortex, quite the animator aren’t we?) in line with your patently deficient intellect (the beard and circus clown tie didn’t seduce me, but by all means).
Now John, please understand computer models don’t “tell” us anything but if you do think they are such great predictors, then please understand you need another model, ’cause the current crop endorsed by the IPCC get it all wrong.

My takeaway was that Dr. John Holdren has a belief.
It sickens my stomach that this comes from my White House.

Questions for Dr John Holdren or anyone who agrees with him
Were the previous record low temperatures across the US due to a Polar Vortex? How far back do we have to go to find the last Polar Vortex that was not due to global warming?
When were all the earlier Polar Vortex incidents against which we can measure the claim of growing frequency of such events? One cannot be the basis for saying we’re seeing increased frequency.
Holdren could have stopped at saying that the current episode is weather, not climate. So why didn’t he? Could it be a decade and a half of no increase made this difficult?

out-of-date because the writer still thinks the Polar Star is off to rescue the Shokalskiy & Xue Long. seems he wrote it earlier than the date published. however, very interesting detail:
9 Jan: Australian: Anthony Bergin: Saga of Shokalskiy breaks ice on much-needed polar conversation
(Anthony Bergin is deputy director, Australian Strategic Policy Institute, and honorary fellow, Antarctic Climate and Ecosystems Co-operative Research Centre)
It’s interesting that the voyage isn’t part of the official Australian Antarctic Science Program, and was taking paying passengers. The cruise is badged by its operators as the Australasian Antarctic Expedition, appropriating the name of the Australasian scientific team that explored part of the cold continent between 1911 and 1914, led by Douglas Mawson. It’s a bit like stealing the term Anzac for a tourist visit to Gallipoli…
