An urgent message from Santa
These green people never seem to learn. A couple of years ago it was nutball David Suzuki and his fundraising drive to “save” Santa’s home from melting:
Now, not to be outdone in the “please send money cuz Santa’s home is dying” meme, Greenpeace has produced a video that looks like a cross between the Blair Witch Project and Doomsday Preppers. Only one problem: it is so stupid even CNN is mocking it. Watch:
CNN has this story from Jeanne Moos that rips into Greenpeace for this video.
Moos characterizes the alarmists at Greenpeace and elsewhere as folks who “believe in global warming.” Their tendency to embrace human-caused climate doomsday scenarios (like Bad Santa hiding from climate change in the bunker) is akin to a religious belief, unaffected by the reality of observations and data.
In the CNN video, Moos quoted a commenter at the YouTube post of the Greenpeace video who wrote:
Hope that you are proud of yourselves green piece (sic) for scaring innocent children with your bully boy tactics as usual.
That’s right. CNN cited a critic of Greenpeace in its story. That represents amazing progress for truth (if not grammar) in MSM coverage of the climate issue.
Here’s another taste of Moos’ CNN-approved mockery of Greenpeace and what she said was a “sorry excuse for a Santa”:
It looks like a hostage video, but instead of Al Qaida, it’s Santa.
Ouch!
The kicker: When you put an email address into the website that Greenpeace is pitching in the video http://www.savesantashome.org/ it immediately becomes like the Obamacare website, asking for more personal information:
I wouldn’t wish being stuck in Greenpeace’s marketing database on my worst enemy.
Meanwhile, Arctic sea ice is within 1 standard deviation of normal:

This confirms my long-held suspicion that Fidel Castro hasn’t yet died, but merely retreated to a self-imposed exile. Sitting on top of the world, he casts a downward eye on us evil consumers; all the while preparing a campaign of global central planning, where common sense and competition take a back seat to hypocrisy, self-loathing and unrelenting hubris.
Skip the Salvation Army bucket and send your money to these champions of environmental justice. Hurry now, lest the solar lights fade into darkness.
I call on the US Government to pass a bill immediately for $50 million to install wind turbines to power Santa Claus’ home and factory. But while we’re at it we’ll need another $50 million for the icebreaker to get supplies to him because its NOT open water, and another $30 million to clear the new wind turbines that get ground up in all the sea ice, then $100 million for research to figure out how to avoid this in the future.
Wait I retract that. I don’t want to give those cretins more bright ideas.
Isn’t it somewhat ironic that Greenpeace, mainly composed of the kind of leftists who annually wage war against all things related to Christmas, use Santa as a ploy to push the AGW agenda?
Besides, Santa is fine, he has an escort of NORAD fighters escorting him (another thing the usual suspects are braying about).
The irony, of course, is that St. Nick will punish Obama and Putin for ignoring his letters by putting … wait for it … COAL in their stockings. *rimshot*
What is interesting here is that she mentioned that Arctic ice is recovering that would have been a total no no mentioning Cfact? recently. Maybe she will start looking into this AGW thing LOL

It would seem global warming if it existed now stops reindeer from flying.
Does anyone have a good, direct link to terra or aqua images of the Arctic? I used t have a few which took a long time to find, before my hard drive died. I’ve been watching the sea ice growth and I’m interested in checking more closely on whether I can visit Santa this Christmas by walking from Iceland. 🙂
It’s certainly looking close on the various maps on the Sea Ice Page and significantly more likely than any time since I started watching 5 years ago. BTW, when was the last time the Arctic sea ice leg that runs down the eastern coast of Greenland extended all the way to Iceland?
The quality of alarmist web sites always amazes me. I mean they’re visually pretty good and it just shows how much serious money they have behind them.
I wonder which agency designed http://www.savesantashome.org for Greenp*ss?
I would guess that Greenpeace had this as work in progress expecting a bigger melt than last year. Money committed must be used even if it makes them look foolish. It does show they do not really work with facts though as this year the ice is nearly back to normal. Why didn’t they wait for the facts?
Greenpeace is a propaganda machine, nothing more.
I believe this clip of Gore and Suzuki will quell any confusion the gentle readers of this blog may have in regards to this whole climate debate thingy:
http://onecriticalelement.blogspot.ca/2013/12/canada-vrs-usa-suzuki-vrs-gore-standard.html
Good observation. The cinematography is straight out of Blair Witch Project. I think they call that plagiarism.
Nice job Greenpeace, ruining Christmas for the kids. I wonder if they’ll be showing this video to school children?
Given their other campaigns and the general outlook of the religion one might have thought that ’empty stockings at xmas’ would be top of their ‘most desired’ list.
Sustainable stockings and all that. Ironic that they are attempting to use the threat of a ‘disruption to Xmas consumerism’ in order to promote the cause. Then again, this is the same religion that, on the one hand wants to see all the world adequately fed but on the other wants a hefty portion of the worlds food supply dumped into petrol (USA -gas) tanks.
‘Think of the children’ as you watch 10:10 cover them in classmates body parts. They just have no idea what they want.
There is just no consistency. Apart from ‘something else’ what exactly do they want?
Good grief Greenpeace is beyond dumbass. Everyone knows the North Pole is part of the Great White North and that Santa doesn’t speak with a well practiced, theatrical English accent. This guy must have escaped from a home for failed Shakespearian stage actors.
And Santa says “eh” and this imposter was bereft of the use of this innovative Canadian style English language usage.
“I do understand your point of view. However, I don’t think that it’s frightening to be a little bit provocative to get the message across. At the end of the day, this concerns the well-being of children as well, or especially, I would say. Since it is the younger generation and the upcoming generations that are gonna be hurt most by climate change. Weighing the costs and benefits, if you like, I think the benefits outweigh the costs of an effective message that might actually contribute to saving the Arctic.”
LOL, that this person thinks that this ‘message’ constitutes an ‘effective message’.

“Ha ha … impression was that this was Fidel Castro ”
You’re right. Probably Fidel was bored and took the job.
Greensleaze at their finest.
Instead of presents, make a donation in your child’s name. After all, it’s for their own good.

Yup, J. D. Sean, J. D. 4:11am, (so glad to see you post! hope you’re feeling well I’vebeenpraying),
it’s extortion, pure and simple:
They’ve got Santa Claus and the Elves tied up in the basement of Suzuki’s Vancouver, B. C. waterfront home.

I think the “weird dip” you refer to was caused by some big gales in the arctic smashing up a lot of “baby ice” in the Barents and Kara Seas. The ice was forming early and swiftly (though not “unprecedented,”) but was only six inches to a couple feet thick over a large area. That created a surge in the extent graph. However the ice allows air a two meters to drop down to as low as minus-thirty, while the air over the open water and is around zero to minus-five, and the contrast can generate some big gales along the edges of the ice. One big sub 960 mb gale smashed up all that thin ice, and piled it up, and blew it eastward north of Svalbard and then flushed it south through Fram Strait, which went from below-normal extent to above-normal extent even as the ice-extent of the Kara and Barents Seas was reduced. The down-tick of the graph was the reflection of that event.
By the way, having no ice in the Barents Sea cools the tendrils of warm AMO water entering the arctic, and in my opinion is likely to make the Arctic Ocean as a whole be colder. In other words, less ice in that part of the arctic now means more ice elsewhere next summer.
I’ve been having a blast watching the arctic, with help from Anthony’s wonderful “Sea Ice Page,” for years now. If you watch you learn, even if you aren’t particularly scientific, and once you know about the arctic then the video this post is about appears extremely dishonest, as well as cruel to children. The creators should be ashamed of themselves.
One thing I’m watching carefully this winter is the slight, once-every-hundred-year chance there could be a sort of ice jam in Denmark Strait, due to the storms over Barents Sea causing so much extra baby-ice to flow down through Fram Strait. The odds are against it, but its worth watching. (If interested, see my observations at the bottom of my post at http://sunriseswansong.wordpress.com/2013/12/02/arctic-sea-ice-recovery-advent/ )
Spam filter may have grabbed my last comment.
Opened the door to pick up the newspaper this morning and it felt like as if the Arctic Ice Extent had just extended itself to my front yard. (-26C)
mkelly says : “All you say is true, but you did not mention his sleigh runs on reindeer.”
Yup. I just don’t get it. Here’s someone who can make reindeer fly at Mach 6 while pulling a sleigh — and yet he does not know any better than to build a domicile on transient, drifting, pack ice. It sort of makes that guy who built a house on sand look like a genius.
Well, us little kids aren’t so dumb. Two can play at THIS game.
Watch out for that ice, heh. It’s real. You might slip.
