Lexicon Shift Alert: global warming gets another name change

Back in 2010, I pointed out that White House science adviser John Holdren had made a shift in naming conventions for the twice renamed “global warming”.

The lexicon shift in 2010

It seems that another shift in the lexicon has occurred, again at the White House. Organizing for Action, President Obama’s campaign machine declared Tuesday that there was a new name.

The Washington Times picked up on this shift, and I’ve updated the graphic to reflect the new name.  There’s also a poll to choose/predict the next name after this one.

The doomed planet movement has been losing momentum. Inconvenient scientific findings have confirmed the lack of any significant warming of dear old Earth over the past 16 years. It’s hard to scare people into action when nothing bad is happening. That’s why the White House has changed its vocabulary again — first “global warming” was changed to “climate change” — and now the correct name of the scam is “carbon pollution.” It’s a way to paint carbon dioxide as if it were black soot billowing out of industrial smokestacks. Carbon dioxide is actually what humans exhale, and it’s food for plants.

Its seems that since global warming has stalled, and scientists are puzzled by it, plus major players in science are poo-pooing the “climate disruption/extreme weather angle, they had no choice but to make a lexicon shift.

Here is the updated graphic to reflect the lexicon shift. Feel free to share far and wide:

What should the next name be? Take the poll, you can also add your own answer. Be sure to post your new answer in comments. (I’ll add some of the best ones manually)

[NOTE: for some reason the poll won’t display other answers from voters in the voting or the results, so I disabled it – A]

h/t to Small Dead Animals for some of the names

The ever changing nomenclature is the result of widespread “OCD” (Obsessive Compulsive Disinformation)

Perhaps the next name for ‘Global Warming’ will be ‘The reason climate data is no longer subjected to public scrutiny’.

Climate Mandate to go with ethanol mandate, health care mandate, hiring mandates, gun mandates, debt limit mandates, and gender mandates (all five of them).

While not a part of the choices, if one starts thinking about this further, then Man is a pollution. All animal life is a pollution. Almost all life (I understand they found some non-carbon based life in the lakes under the Antarctic Ice sheet) is pollution.
I guess V-Ger will be swooping in shortly to clean the planet.

I might not have the name that will be used to scare Americans… but I might have the name geologist might use for our epoch… “If the last two natural warm periods were named the “Roman Warm Period” and “Medieval Warm Period”, what will geologist and historians of the future name the current period of warmth? How does “American Warm Period” or “Technological Warm Period” sound, or perhaps in light of the actions of the main stream media and environmentalist the “Hysterical Warm Period” would be a better choice.” I came up with this, in 2010 when writing a paper for university, it seems pretty appropriate when looking at the last 7 years of climate history.

It’s clear for all to see what carbon pollution has achieved. See it here and weep oh Earthlings. You are destroying the biosphere with this noxious toxin. All hope is lost.

Even though it has only 2 votes at this point, 1 of them mine – I after all don’t follow the crowd nor believe consensus is healthy! – had to vote for the one that made me chuckle the most. D.E.A.T.H.

Well I vote for letting the team chose their own name, for in undermining their cause they have no peers.
Carbon Pollution has a nice ring to it; Until you stop and consider that we are carbon based lifeforms.
This meme allows doubters, such as myself, to refer to advocates as a “nasty waste of carbon”.
This cannot be slander as they chose to call carbon in its many compounds a pollutant.
The irony of a carbon based life form , campaigning to outlaw carbon dioxide emissions is naturally lost on the zealots.

Carbon Injustice would, I think, fit in nicely with similar progressive memes.
And it can’t possibly be disproven since it means nothing.

Anthony, you forgot ‘Crazy Weather’ after ‘Climate Disruption’ on your graphic.
Greenhouse growers are to be arrested on mass due to their willful infusions of a highly toxic gas into greenhouses. In the meantime paleo records tell us that carbon dioxide will ravage the tropical forests around the world. We must act now for goodness sake.

Abstract – James L. Crowley
Effects of Rapid Global Warming at the Paleocene-Eocene Boundary on Neotropical Vegetation
Temperatures in tropical regions are estimated to have increased by 3° to 5°C, compared with Late Paleocene values, during the Paleocene-Eocene Thermal Maximum (PETM, 56.3 million years ago)………eastern Colombia and western Venezuela. We observed a rapid and distinct increase in plant diversity and origination rates, with a set of new taxa, mostly angiosperms, added to the existing stock of low-diversity Paleocene flora. There is no evidence for enhanced aridity in the northern Neotropics. The tropical rainforest was able to persist under elevated temperatures and high levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide,…….

Abstract – Carlos Jaramillo et. al.
Global Warming and Neotropical Rainforests: A Historical Perspective
…Our compilation of 5,998 empirical estimates of temperature over the past 120 Ma indicates that tropics have warmed as much as 7°C during both the mid-Cretaceous and the Paleogene….. The TRF did not collapse during past warmings; on the contrary, its diversity increased. The increase in temperature seems to be a major driver in promoting diversity.

Geologically our world is currently at the low end of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. When it was hight life and greenery thrived like there was no tomorrow.
