Friday Funny – great moments in 97% beliefs

C02_TCP_social_media_image_97[1]Heh, this is from a commenter at Slashdot on Cook’s fatally flawed 97% consensus paper. While a bit harsh, it’s also funny. He responds to:

Yeah! It’s like saying that 97% of priests believe in god anyway.

Interesting how they try to save the 97% number.
Obviously too much already invested in it.
They do not acknowledge that the 97% was obtained through fake statistics, but being so deconstructed by the skeptics and more and more people getting aware of it, they try now to replace it with new statistics.
Typical.
And surprise, surprise, even if making statistics in a different area with different material they come suddenly to 97%. Not 98% or 96% or 95% but exactly the same 97%.
So yes, it is worth only to laugh about it and the fake statistics and their theories by consensus. They are in the same bucket with the astrologists.
I like those
97% of the children believe in Santa
97% of paranoid believe they are being followed
97% of the homoeopaths believe in homoeopathy
97% of the astrologists believe in astrology

and all the examples. It is so revealing. The guy was so right: “Yeah! It’s like saying that 97% of priests believe in god anyway.”
And yeah, if you pay a million dollar grant to each and every paper which can prove “scientifically” that Santa exist, you will get ten thousands of papers demonstrating that Santa really exists. And a lot of “scientists” will take this very seriously. Of course if raw data cannot be found it can be easily proven that 97% of toys come from Santa.
This global warming religion is anti-human, anti-environment and anti-science. I think they qualify even for the most absurd epithet of anti-climate (sic). Who else denies there has been a climate and any bigger climate variations before humans “started changing it”?
They destroy the environment with biofuels, windmills, they sabotage science with consensus theories, trying to destroy healthy skepticism, bullying and insulting skeptics, not using the scientific method, they push for non-democratic decisions taking. A very dangerous cult.
OK, stop ranting Lars it is Friday funny time…
97% of the doctors in the 19th century believed humans will not survive traveling with 100 kmh speed
97% of the scientists did not believe meteorites are stones “falling from the sky”

97% of climate alarmists believe in lying to further the cause. The other 3% are lying.
97% of the time the romans have never done anything for us. Except when it comes to roads, education, medicine, sanitation, public order, wine, and world peace.
97% of the messiahs in ancient Judea claimed to be the messiah. Only the ones who didn’t say they were actually the messiah, were the real messiah.
97% of the Judean People’s Front are against the People’s Front of Judea.
97% of men who want to be women want to have babies, its their right as a man.
97% of the committee voted to stop just sitting around and voting in committees.
97% of the Knights of the Round table thought they were onto something in their search for the holy grail.
I’m sorry, I’m just watching a Monty Python movie. Not bad, for educating oneself about statistics.

Men and women share 97% of their DNA
Chimps and humans share 98.5% of their DNA.
Therefore … men are more closely related to male chimps than they are to women
*But in fact men and women share 45/46 chromosomes which is 97.8% which just happens to be near enough the human body temperature if Fahrenheit.

Can we drop this study already, consensus or not it doesnt matter. Its becoming incredibly ugly here on WUWT.
1) Claim it’s wrong
2) Claim it’s a lie
3) Try to ridicule it
Its such a bad look, I read the comments on the other threads and I mean there were like 4-5 guys explaining how the statistics worked and how it wasnt an epic lie, the rest were sucking up the misinformation about a lie. I am going to have to stop reading WUWT, it doesnt feel right anymore.”
Oflot…….to paraphrase your position:
English officer US revolutionary war: “I thay ole chap theeeth Yankies they dont fight pwoper, they wont stand up in bwightly cowered jackets in wines like ower wedcoats to be shwot at pwoperly like a swoldier shwood. I fwink I will give up thith wawer ath itth a bwit ugwy”.
Go on, piss off, nobody needs you.

I posted a comment on the Guardian about this. I basically said (paraphrase)
“I am really baffled by all this. If the science is so strong for over 10 years now then why do we need to emphasise a consensus. Why do we need surveys showing large support for AGW? I have my strong suspicions as to why but I don’t want to make people here angry.”
My comment did not make it through. If pressed I was going to tell them the following which would really have set sparks flying as the truth hurts.
Governments reducing solar and wind subsidies.
Increased use of coal in UK and 1,000 coal-fired power plants planned worldwide.
The reduced media stories about global warming.
Frakking and shale gas revolution.
Flagging public interest in global warming etc.

Wamron says:
“They dont need o be right about anything. Consequently, proving them wrong on everything, would in itself achieve precisely nothing. “
There is no need to prove the sceptics wrong, The global temperatures following the IPCC predictions will be sufficient. But, oh dear, is it that the actual temperatures are diverging below the +/- 97% level?”
Completely misread my comment. Its the CAGW gang who dont need to prove anything. Even if we enter a new ice age, they will maintain its dues to human activity, the mdia will still repeatthat and public policy will still follow. You will never defeat them with facts. Even blatant, obvious, undeniable facts. Theonlyway to counter them is in cultural terms. This thread has been a good example of the kind of thing of which MUCH more is needed. Ridicule is a simple starting point for those who are beginners at psychological warfare (which sceptics are, at best). The case of Oflots comment illustrates the kind of attitude sceptics have shown far too much of, dont need, shouldnt emulate and had better shun if any progress is to be made.
