Heh, this is from a commenter at Slashdot on Cook’s fatally flawed 97% consensus paper. While a bit harsh, it’s also funny. He responds to:
Yeah! It’s like saying that 97% of priests believe in god anyway.

PS: Sorry, it should be “w” in Ludwig — still, after 30 years in America, I misspell some words that I am used to pronounce internally in Russian.
97% of IRS auditors target conservatives?
The real question is – why they have never managed to convince the last 3%?
Haven’t read the thread just in case it’s been said but here’s my hapeth worth..
97% believe themselves to be the repository of 100% of the truth.
97% of people interested in climate science visit WUWT daily.
Actually, this one may well be true.
Including a link (however tenuous) to global warming in your grant application increases its chance of being accepted by 97%.
Can we drop this study already, consensus or not it doesnt matter. Its becoming incredibly ugly here on WUWT.
1) Claim it’s wrong
2) Claim it’s a lie
3) Try to ridicule it
Its such a bad look, I read the comments on the other threads and I mean there were like 4-5 guys explaining how the statistics worked and how it wasnt an epic lie, the rest were sucking up the misinformation about a lie. I am going to have to stop reading WUWT, it doesnt feel right anymore.
Lighten up Oflot, this is the Friday funny! Comments on the other serious articlesin WUWT are often well informed and/or expand the scope of the article.
97% of climate scientists are starting to look very nervous
“expand the scope of the article.”
Which is exactly what everyone here is trying to do ! 🙂
Oflot, were you happy with the election of Prince Andrew to the Royal Society with 147 votes yes and 1200 abstentions? He got 100% of those that expressed a preference!
97+-3% of those who agree with me, agree with me.
97% of climate scientists make sure they get more funding

Chillax Man – this is for fun (everybody needs some fun, sometime !)
But your statement is also pretty darn ironic – as, in reality – it is not the skeptics that continually QUOTE the ‘consensus’ in the media – it’s the bloody alarmists – GO and tell THEM to stop the CRAPOLA!
The poll was checking the first line of agreement in the red circle above:
“Scientists agree that global warming is happening”
The second line was not checked in the poll, certainly no “anthropogenic” existed in the scale one had to choose for the abstrac, and the 10 abstracts did not have “anhropogenic” in them. It is an arbitrary extension by the poll makers to fulfill their agenda.
97% of the CO2 in the air is natural. 97% or radiated heat is not in the CO2 band. 97% of the CO2 emissions do not come from the UK. 97% of the UK electricity is NOT generated by ruddy windmills. 97% of the government renewables subsidy IS paying for ruddy windmills. 97% of the people are too stupid to understand this. 97% of scientists are on the gravy train provided by 97% of the Politicians. 97% of the politicians will get lucrative rewards from the wind industry when they are thrown out. 97% of people could not care less.

List is much longer, for 97% google has 17,500,000 results.
Only one I am slightly concern about is
“97% Of Doctors Prescribe Placebos, UK”

I think it should read more like,
”97.10000% of climate scientists agree that without the threat of AGW they would get no funding. The other 2.90000% are in the pay of big oil… So, If you continue to believe in AGW then you will enable our climate scientists to generate more Sci-Fi for you to read and everyone will be happy (expect those living near the seaside.
That 97% number looks a bit suspect and sloppy to me. Shouldn’t it have a few decimal places to make it look more accurate? I mean: Something like 97.28% (for example) looks far more scientific and suggests better maths were used than a bare 97%!
97% of socialists believe that folks who earn more than they do need to pay higher taxes.
97% of newspaper reports contain errors? Archaeologist claims to have located site of Roman battle
I said “crop marks” not “crop circles”.
97% of lemmings follow ‘the team’ leaders.{+ or- 500%}
97% of men tell their girlfriends they read Playboy for the articles.
Levity aside, it would be an. interesting exercise to survey the authors of the 66% of papers from Cook’s survey which did not express an opinion on AGW in the abstract.
Perhaps just two questions:
1. “In your opinion; Is modern warming most likely to be predominantly man-made?”
2. (If ‘yes’ to 1 above): “In you opinion is it very likely that the situation is so dire that major action must be taken immediately?”
97% of French were in the resitence.
97% of all things are nails! For someone who owns a hammer…
