Wow, it doesn’t get much uglier than this. In my opinion, this is hate speech. Steve Zwick writes in his Forbes column:
We know who the active denialists are – not the people who buy the lies, mind you, but the people who create the lies. Let’s start keeping track of them now, and when the famines come, let’s make them pay. Let’s let their houses burn. Let’s swap their safe land for submerged islands. Let’s force them to bear the cost of rising food prices.
They broke the climate. Why should the rest of us have to pay for it?
People who doubt the magnitude of CO2/AGW driven climate change broke the climate?
I suppose then that Mr. Zwick has never driven a car, never taken an airplane trip, never heated or cooled his home, never bought products produced overseas and shipped here, never grilled at a BBQ, or never used electricity to power his computer to write his litany of hate for Forbes. No, he’s apparently not used any CO2 producing modern convenience at all, which is why he bizarrely believes he has some sort of moral high ground.
His hypocrisy is beyond description. His full essay is here.
For those who wish to complain about his hate speech against fellow Americans, see the Forbes Contact page here.
As for his points about the Yale poll trying to make us all fear the weather as some human caused machination of climate, read this.
UPDATE: Warren Meyer offers a thoughtful rebuttal in Forbes here

Does he drive a car? Does he ever fly in a plane? Does he use electricity? Unless he lives like the Amish, he should realize he’s part of the problem!
If they are going to play rough, then, here is the riposte. When the inevitable next mini (or not so mini) ice age comes, those who promoted the fallacy that the only type of climate change is warming, need to pay. I’d even take it a step further. Those negligent enough to spend civic monies on warming scenario contingency plans whilst neglecting cooling scenario contingency plans shall also have to pay. How they pay will of course be determined by the political systems and social conventions in place at such future dates.
[SNIP: Anthony has already stated that baiting like this is not appropriate. -REP]
My comment, added to Meyer’s article:
Steve Zwick says that extreme weather events are related to climate change.
Denier-central’s, peak sceptics at the IPCC beg to differ:

4.5.3.3. Attribution of Impacts to Climate Change: Observations and Limitations
…
There is high confidence, based on high agreement and medium evidence, that economic losses from weather- and climate-related disasters have increased. A key question concerns whether trends in such losses, or losses from specific events, can be attributed to climate change. In this context, changes in losses over time need to be controlled for exposure and vulnerability. Most studies of long-term disaster loss records attribute these increases in losses to increasing exposure of people and assets in at-risk areas, and to underlying societal trends – demographic economic, political, and social – that shape vulnerability to impacts. Some authors suggest that a (natural or anthropogenic) climate change signal can be found in the records of disaster losses, but their work is in the nature of reviews and commentary rather than empirical research.
———–
In plain language; there is no physical evidence that climate change has anything to do with losses from natural disasters; the so-called “extreme events”.

The scenario I fear the most is a crash in photosynthesis. Many things can cause it however, at the current low CO2 level, any such thing or combination of things thereof does not have to be very extreme to cause it. For example, a sudden reduction in incoming solar flux in the middle frequency band. The biosphere can tolerate such a reduction a lot better at 1000 ppm than at 3 or 400 PPM. This is basic ecology.
This seems to be a new tactic among the climate extremists: incite violence against the skeptics. NASA employee James Hansen has been doing a lot of this lately. Here’s an article from ABC News where Bill Blakemore sets out his case for skeptics being guilty of “crimes against humanity”. Blakemore goes so far as to say that his equating climate skepticism with the Nazi Holocaust is not something he does lightly but rather results from his ” extensive study and forethought”.
These people have lost all sense of proportion.
This isn’t playing to well in the comments on his column either………….

The religion of climate change has founds its “jews”. Prepare for the holocaust.

… with the difference being that they know who we are and where we live, and we know who they are and where they live, and we have more ammo.
I wonder if Zwick and fellow CAGW cultists gather round a giant burning hockey stick dressed-up in white robes and pointy hats (to accommodate their pointy heads) chanting their cultist hate slogans: burn the skeptics! burn the skeptics! ??
Whatever their favoured rituals might be, these CAGW cultists are most definitely whacko. No doubt about it.
It saddens me that there’s no reasoning with frothing greenies who have closed minds. Politics (not religion) is killing the debate. We have to keep on and be reasonable, but it is hard in the face of naked, blind hatred.
Truth will out. I have 18 months before I collect a substantial global warming bet made with a greenie friend at the time of COP17 regarding an ice free Arctic and I suspect the double or quits option I am going to propose will be declined, unlike the ice.
In Australia a warmist and Government advisor Prof Tim Flannery made a number of statements regarding Global Warming/Climate Change. These follow:
In 2005, Flannery predicted Sydney’s dams could be dry in as little as two years because global warming was drying up the rains, leaving the city “facing extreme difficulties with water”.
Check Sydney’s dam levels today: 73 per cent. Hmm. Not a good start.
In 2008, Flannery said: “The water problem is so severe for Adelaide that it may run out of water by early 2009.”
Check Adelaide’s water storage levels today: 77 per cent.
In 2007, Flannery predicted cities such as Brisbane would never again have dam-filling rains, as global warming had caused “a 20 per cent decrease in rainfall in some areas” and made the soil too hot, “so even the rain that falls isn’t actually going to fill our dams and river systems … “.
Check the Murray-Darling system today: in flood. Check Brisbane’s dam levels: 100 per cent full.
All this may seem funny, but some politicians, voters and investors have taken this kind of warming alarmism very seriously and made expensive decisions in the belief it was sound.
The problem is the climate steadfastly refuses to cooperate with Prof Flannery. Both Queensland and NSW State Governments built water delsalination plants costing billions of dollars on the strength of these pronouncements, neither has been used to any extent. The Queensland floods received worldwide news coverage.
Perhaps Mr Zwick you would consider a refund of scarce taxpayer funds for the cost of these white elephants.
the houses will not burn too much C02 will not support combustion dam,t
If I’m guilty of a warmer earth and a more resplendent biosphere due to more CO2 plant food, then so be it! I’ll take my lumps:
Send me to the throne–cover me with roses; fan me with oversized palm fronds; may abundant rains house our fish and grow our crops.
Trash me with the proceeds!

Now I ask you, who could get mad at me, or want me dead. You shouldn’t wish that on elfs, gnomes, or leprechauns. Bad luck.

It is the same old story — data manipulation. Zwick has added the storm in his brain to the actual weather data to create this extreme event.

Andrew,
You are accurately descibing the new “Burning Mann” celebration of the ‘Green’ counter culture!
MtK
It should have been a scientific discussion – but it never was, not since before I was born. Oh, some people treat it that way, but not those who drive it.
I’m sure it even started before the original “Earth Day,” full of wild predictions and hatred for good old Western Civilization, but that’s a good enough starting point.
It was political from the beginning. Heck, Zwick’s behavior isn’t even new, look back through the behavior of the “Malthusians” all along.
Sad but predictable.
In his frustration at not having been able to seize control of government power and policy as he had supposed his AGW agenda should have enabled, Mr. Zwick betrays what he would have done if he and his fellow travelers HAD managed to seize political power and control. He would have launched a vendictive campaign of punishment and retribution against his “enemies”. (We know who you are and we know where you live.) Anyone who suspected “ulterior motive” in Mr. Zwick’s irrational promotion of the AGW agenda should now be satisfied the man has, in his agonnized state, unwittingly provided the answer.
I don’t buy into supporting hate rants. I sent this to the Forbes staff:
Well if he wants retribution against Deni*lists…. Then the same can be held true for Warmists.
If it all turns out to be wrong and there is no catastrophe….. All those people who put their names to AGW policy that attacked CO2 and Fossil fuel use, can pay for the damages they caused. Zwick endorses the position.

I can’t quantify this myself, but I wonder if he can, after the comments on there – does he think himself a useful idiot or a useless idiot ??
Dear Forbes,
Thank you for allowing the rant of Steve Zwick on your website, it is very enlightening.
It is useful to read debates on climate change from level headed proponents pointing out undeniable poll evidence of the catastrophe ahead if we do not ‘make the denialists who create the lies pay by letting their houses burn, swapping their safe houses for submerged islands and forcing them to bear the cost of
