I did this because I liked the idea of falsifying the evidence that wine is good for you, I mean why not if it is 5 minutes to midnight on the doomsday clock, makes perfect sense to me…

I still believe the science is settled… garcon!

Now I will never be able to read the acronym “IPCC” again without thinking about your pun! Thanks!
Does this mean that the hundred odd bottles of red in my celler are not good for me and I’ll have to switch to my wife’s white? Maybe I’ll just drink it in the dark! If I poured it out unfiltered I could be charged with pollution of the North Pacific!!!! What to do?
Ian E says:Nice & quite subtle too.
I’ll stick to my tinto… but I’m struggling with a “modeling” problem:
What is the trade-off between dangerous global warming and a warmist world government?
Or say, how much global warming would I have preferred to endure rather than living under a regime conceived by some of the most doomsday-preaching individuals and organizations, where dissenters at best are ridiculized and/or denigrated and/or subject to Berufsferbot, and at worst subject to “no pressure”?
There have been heroes in the world who personally have suffered a lot more for freedom than a couple of degrees warmer conditions. Many of us are even their grandchildren.
Cheers!
“An extensive misconduct investigation that took three years to complete and produced a 60,000-page report, concludes that a researcher who has come to prominence in recent years for his investigations into the beneficial properties of resveratrol, a compound found in red wine, “is guilty of 145 counts of fabrication and falsification of data”.”
Three years and 60,000 pages? In the very target rich environment for possible investigations of scientific malfeasance, what is most amusing and/or angering is that this is the cluck they chose to invest such a massive amount of time, effort and money investigating. In the last couple of years, just the small fraction of the ongoing deluge of PR science that Anthony has found time to blog about includes almost weekly examples of works that are much more egregious and in need of scrutiny than this fellows efforts which, while admittedly huge, apparently did little to distort other findings in his field.
not so FUNNY:
13 Jan: Guardian: Suzanne Goldenberg: US teachers offered support for climate change lessons
National Centre for Science Education gives teachers advice on how to deal with demand to drop classes on climate change
An organisation that has championed the teaching of evolution in America’s schools is offering support to teachers who have come under attack for lessons on climate change.
The National Centre for Science Education (NCSE), which has worked for 30 years to keep evolution in the classroom, said it will begin offering teachers advice on how to deal with students, parents, and even school authorities demanding they drop classes on climate change.
“We have been getting anecdotal reports for a couple of years now of teachers getting hammered for teaching climate science – just like they did for teaching evolution,” said Eugenie Scott, director of the centre.
The new initiative launches on 16 January – in the throes of a Republican primary contest in which candidates have fallen over each other to discredit climate change, or the link to human activity…
Virginia’s attorney general, Ken Cuccinelli, is pursuing the climate scientist Michael Mann through the courts, to gain access to his email and other work documents.
Mann used to work at the University of Virginia. Cuccinelli says he is investigating fraud; university lawyers told the court on Thursday he was mounting an assault on academic freedom…
In an online survey last year conducted by Nesta, more than 25% of teachers reported disputes with students, parents, or school administrators who doubted the existence of climate change, or that it was caused by human activity.
Some 82% of respondents to a similar online survey last year by the National Science Teachers Association reported encountering climate change scepticism – including 26% who faced such doubt from school administrators. “I do fear for the upcoming generation,” said Scott. “If teachers are intimidated and neglect this topic for fear of raising controversy we wil have a new generation that is under-educated and less concerned about an issue than they need to be.”

My grandfather had this piece of doggerel on the wall of his summer house:
Starkle, starkle, little twink,
who the hell you are I think.
I’m not under the affluence of incohol
like some thinkle peep I am.
There are variants around the web.
Josh, spelling “press conference” in drunk was a good touch.
I thought the original clock story was “55 Minutes to Midnight”.
Too much reshveratol, I guesh.

I do agree with you…but, about 40 years ago it was conducted a test, making drink wine to a group of americans who used to drink whisky, and making drink whiskey to a group of italians who used to drink wine. The result of the test?: The majority of both groups got addicted and some became alcoholic. So it seems there is something in the genes…
L’chaim!
“Whereas climategate, in my opinion, is just a bunch of nasty socialists”
Socialists like Margareet Thatcher, who started the scare, the people at Enron, and Al Gore, who is an American politician and therefore less socialist than Hayek.
What is in stark contrast is the behavior of Penn U and Conn U. One did everything they could to run a whitewash investigation and the other got in there and dug out their dirty laundry.

At first I thought this was off topic, but I suppose Michael Mann could be considered an expert on whine.
It is spelled “saluT”, not “saluD”.
Besides, nobody says “salut” for a toast: the proper expression is “santé” (good health).
Re: Gordon Ford: “What to do?”
Well you could always send it North to Alaska and I’ll make sure It wouldn’t pollute the Pacific or overwork the local “filtering device.” I’ll arrange shipping. (Note: I am trying to figure out how to write a html tag for tongue firmly in cheek). Cheers –
@ur momisugly proxima:
Salud is a Spanish toast. The word itself translates to ‘health’.
I don’t know whether wine is good or bad for you, but it sure has helped get rid of the head ache from last nights inebration!
Cheers have a great weekend!
Lance
The article I read went on to mention that a number of other studies did confirm that red wine is good for you.
I’ll put this in here, the mod can maybe move it to a more suitable place.
[SNIP: Actually, we can’t. We have a tips and notes page here and two rather long threads on Unified Climate Theory where this might fit in. -REP]
agimarc:
Can’t send it “North to Alaska” as my brothers in Smithers might hijack the truck and drink it all to the detriment of the steelhead in the Bulkley/Skeena River system. :-)’ I guess I’ll just have to filter it myself 🙁
