Maybe this is why the US bailed out of the UNFCCC “Green Climate Fund” this week. The science has been “McKibbenized” for quite some time.

In The Hague, we saw for the first time organized disruption of the conduct of negotiation and publicly staged confrontations. While organized and deeply committed environmental activism has long been an important part of the UNFCCC process through major groups suchas NRDC, EDF/ED, WWF and Greenpeace, they have operated within the structure as constructive participants in the policy-setting process, along with industry.
It gets worse:
At The Hague, this “inside” role was supplemented by hundreds of young, relatively naïve demonstrators brought in specifically to energize the environmental presence and confront the process. Even some within the ranks of the more established participants — while disavowing the takeover of the negotiating room — saw fit to publicly offer Minister Pronk and the UNFCCC Secretariate a veiled threat of “Seattle” if the process failed to deliver.
In the context of this resurgence of “environmental fundamentalism” it is also interesting to contrast the dynamics of the final give-and-take between the US and the EU in The Hague.

Meanwhile, from Thursday’s “Material World” on Radio 4:-

04:45 onward
We have Quentin Cooper with Lord Krebbs & Prof. John Beddington.
Bedwettington, who let’s remember is the Government’s Chief Scientific Advisor (sic), in a discussion about risk and uncertainty, asks:-
“Is Climate Change happening?
“Is it driven by human activity?
“Is it inexorable in the current way?
“Is it driven by Greenhouse gas emissions?
“Complete consensus of informed scientific opinion that in fact there is there (sic)”
And much more besides, opining that it would be entirely wrong to suggest that there was any “uncertainty” about the “Science” just because “one scientist” disagreed with the “99” who were entirely part of the “consensus”.
Not much recognition there of the obvious uncertainties of even the chief proponents of the cAGW scare as clearly revealed by Climategate 2.
With “advisors” like Bedwettington, as breathtakingly incompetent as he is flagrantly dishonest, it is no wonder that the policies of every mainstream political party is as ludicrous as they are.
But, of course, this is a circular argument. Bedwettington, like Houghton, Watson, Tickell and all the other #### were selected as advisors specifically BECAUSE they are incompetent and malicious little #####s.

Seeing what I read in and from the second round of Climategate e-mails, it is time – HIGH TIME – for the United States to withdraw funding from IPCC and its lackey scientific agencies and call for the abolition of IPCC as a central, coordinating body. IPCC far oversteps the proper boundaries of an international agency and continues to act consistently with the (wrong) goal of forcing the governments of the world to make policies that are against their respective national interests. The U.S. government, if IPCC is not abolished, should threaten to withdraw all funding contributions to the UN and should kick the UN out of New York.
But understandably, it will take a presidential election in 2012 to accomplish that. I plan on raising this issue where I can with Republican candidates.

When it comes to politics, the corporates are far better practitioners than politicians. The difference is they are more effective because they do it silently, whereas the politicians who are in the main in it for money and ego, make a lot of noise about politics but strangely are a lot quieter when it comes to feathering their nests.

If a book is not “Approved” it does not get published. “Secrets of the Federal Reserve” by Mullen is one example and the destruction of the actual printing plates in the case of “Banking, Currency, and the Money Trust” and “Why is Your Country at War?” by US Congressman Charles August Lindbergh Sr. are others. How many more never saw the light of day we will never know.

Our Approach
LEAD – Leadership for Environment and Development – was created by the
Rockefeller Foundation in 1991. We identify outstanding men
and women from around the world who are at mid-career level from a range of
backgrounds and provide them with training designed
to enhance their leadership capabilities and knowledge in environment and
development.
While remaining in their employment, these attend around 6 weeks of
residential courses per year and participante in distance learning.
This offers a stimulating two-year training programme based on lectures,
panel debates, site visits, self-guided studies and group
discussions. Lectures are delivered by leading experts from academia,
international organisations, the private sector and international NGOs.
With a focus on action-oriented, multi-disciplinary learning, LEAD assists
its participants to address complex issues by transcending
the limits of their own disciplines. It encourages them to work
co-operatively and to become agents of change in their workplaces,
communities, countries and beyond. LEAD’s learning environment is based on
mutual respect, equal opportunity, transparency, and solidarity.
Through a post-graduate Fellows Programme and an Internet-based computer
network, LEAD provides its alumni with links to each
other and to the environment and development communities at large.
LEAD-Europe
At LEAD-Europe, a not-for-profit foundation located in Geneva, Switzerland,
we have been training professionals from Central,
Eastern and Western Europe since 1995. Drawing its strength from Europe’s
cultural, social and economic diversity, LEAD-Europe’s
network of alumni allows durable links to be built between Europeans from
diverse professional backgrounds and sectors.
Therefore it contributes in a unique way towards an environmentally and
socially sustainable European integration and enlargement.
This capacity will be further enhanced with the move of LEAD-Europe’s
headquarters to Bonn, Germany, in June 1999. LEAD-Europe
receives support from governmental and private sources. It works in
collaboration with international organisations and NGOs located
in Geneva as well as with European institutions that are concerned with
sustainability issues.
Our Structure
LEAD is a world-wide network of training programmes dedicated to developing
the leadership skills necessary to deal with today’s
global environment and sustainable development challenges. Participants in
the LEAD programme are outstanding professionals
from diverse cultures, backgrounds and career levels.
The LEAD network currently includes an International Secretariat and twelve
Member Programmes located in Brazil, Canada, China,
the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), Europe, India, Indonesia,
Japan, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan and Zimbabwe (for Southern Africa).
Each Member Programme has a distinct legal identity and governing
structure, and three of them (Canada, Europe, Japan) are
independently funded. The International Secretariat, LEAD-International,
oversees the network, develops policy guidelines, organises
international training sessions and supplies a range of services to the
national and regional Member Programmes.
Our Mission and Rationale
LEAD’s guiding philosophy is rooted in the ethical value of caring for the
planet and for all forms of life. LEAD is dedicated to
creating and sustaining a global network of leaders who are committed to
promoting change towards patterns of economic
development that are environmentally sustainable and socially equitable.
The LEAD programme is a response to the heightened importance of engaging
decision-makers, executives, academics and
NGO leaders in a constructive effort to design strategies and implement
solutions in the interest of a more sustainable future.
LEAD offers a much-needed alternative to the great majority of business
and management schools that still consider the environment
and sustainability as peripheral to their core activities.
Objectives
The LEAD-Europe training programme is designed to provide participants with
an understanding of the complex issues that lie at the
interface of environment and development in a pan-European context. It
specially aims to develop the participants’ capacity to act and
motivate others to act in the interest of sustainability in their
workplace, communities and countries. It is multi-disciplinary and draws
upon
the experience of a network of experts and trainers at the forefront of
their different fields of activity. The curriculum and format aim to meet
the specific needs and priorities of participants, so as to complement
their professional commitments.
Through the LEAD Fellowship Programme, LEAD-Europe Fellows remain actively
involved in various activities of the LEAD network.
They are eligible to receive financial support in the form of grants for
specific projects in the areas of environment and development
designed with concrete outcomes in mind. They also participate in LEAD’s
governing structures at the international, regional and national levels.
The Curriculum
The LEAD-Europe programme comprises 80 days of training. Half of the
training programme is conducted in Europe, while the other half
consists of interregional or international sessions. This provides a
unique opportunity to work with professionals from other countries and
to be part of a powerful global network of young leaders.
The curriculum covers the essential aspects of the environment and
development nexus, such as, for example, understanding the cyclic
nature of living phenomena, environmental management and resource
conservation, human development, social and economic issues,
international law and conventions, trade and environment, biological
diversity, science and ethics, technology and energy, industry and
environment, and gender issues. In addition to these issues, the programme
emphasises building leadership skills and provides opportunities
to develop problem solving, negotiation, conflict resolution, and team
building skills.
Participants / qualifications
Individuals recruited into a LEAD Member Programme are known as
“Associates”. They are normally between the ages of 30 and 40,
and are drawn from academia, business, government, media and NGOs. Close
to 200 Associates are selected each year world-wide
to enter the LEAD programme. There are at present 800 LEAD graduates – or
“Fellows”.
LEAD-Europe recruits 15 Associates per year. Successful applicants must
have an appropriate academic background and at least five
years of professional experience. They must have demonstrated leadership
skills in their profession or in community service and have
a keen interest in the interface between environment and development. They
must be able to work in English.
Application and funding
Interested candidates should include the following in their application
package:
Completed application form
Detailed resume or curriculum vitae
One-page statement that explains how the LEAD-Europe programme will be of
value to their current responsibilities
Their employer’s signed agreement to their full participation in the
programme.
The programme fee is EURO 10,000 per participant. This fee is a
contribution towards meeting the cost of tuition, course material,
scheduled activities and accommodation. Candidates should approach their
current employers or funding institutions to obtain funding
as soon as possible. Candidates, in particular those from Central and
Eastern Europe, who are unable to obtain assistance, can also
apply to LEAD-Europe for financial support.
The application deadline is May 15, 1999. Applications will be reviewed
and suitably qualified applicants will be invited for interview
before being admitted to the programme. Prospective applicants are
encouraged to apply as soon as possible as space is limited
and competition is keen.
Applications should be sent to:

I know what you mean. It is very frustrating.
However Anthony has a big readership world wide and even better, stuff written here gets “Lifted” and posted to other blogs. We even see stuff from here rewritten and used by professional journalists.
Sometimes we as individuals can use the stuff we find here to coax individuals to a more moderate stance. The Occupy Wall Street crowd has awoken to the bankers fractional reserve game. These e-mails can then help them make the connection between the Banks and the CAGW scam. The African Land grab is turning into a real sore point and Al Gore’s hind end is waving in the breeze with that one esp given Friday Mukamperezida’s death by burning.
The old saying is “a Conservative is a Liberal that got mugged” Getting CONNED and made a fool of is even worse than a simple mugging. So this applies to the rank and file “liberals” who became members of Willi Münzenberg ‘Innocents’ Clubs’ They really have no idea of who is behind the Activists groups they join, but will become livid when they realise IF you can pry their eyes open.
In one tiny back page article in the Wall Street Journal (April 1994??) Papers in the Kremlin showed that not only were Activist groups here in the USA funded by the KGB but they were actually RUN by KGB agents. I did not clip and save the article because I thought it would become front page news. That was before I wised up to how the world is really run and who actually runs it.

Oh, and I think Occupy Wall Street was “Organized” as an Astroturf movement to counter the TEA Party. The message about the Federal Reserve Banks was just too strong and had to be countered, especially before the 2012 elections.
The confused liberals now have a group they can cling to and go back to sleep comforted that a “Protest” will cure all and they do not have to align themselves with the conservative camp.
(I am not a member of the Tea Party BTW)

Funding for climate campaigners.
A call for proposals.
from climate-l@eyfa.org
Deadline: 30th September 1999
**please distribute to others who may be interested**
We would like to invite proposals from activists working on climate campaigning.
Following an activist and NGO meeting in March this year, attended by climate
activists from Europe, Asia, USA, Australia and Latin America, funding was obtained to
support two people to work on a project connected to the sixth United Nations Climate
Convention, otherwise known as the Conference of the Parties (COP6), which will
happen in Autumn/Winter 2000/2001. The United Nations is currently considering only
one possible location for the meeting – den Haag, The Netherlands.
The International working group formed after the activist and NGO meeting are looking
for two people who would be able to create something innovative and effective with
this funding. They will be based in a Climate research group in Portugal,
‘Euronatura’. The campaign will be supported by the International working group
which has experience of United Nations negotiations, direct action, campaigning,
economics and climate science. Groups supporting this campaign include : eyfa, Aseed,
Carbusters Magazine, Korean Ecological Youth, Free The Planet USA, EuroNatura, Climate
Action Network Latin America, Climate Action Network Central and Eastern Europe and
Oilwatch Europe.
The thing that joins these people together is the desire to work together to
radicalise the agenda of the climate negotiations. The current direction of the
negotiations cannot hope to define targets nor build mechanisms of implementation and
compliance which will stop the currently dangerous emissions levels of Greenhouse
Gases.
Ideally, the collaboration between the two funded volunteers, Euronatura and the
International working group, will touch on all aspects of climate change and the
related campaigns of oil, forest, marine and transport. Equally, the collaboration
will be aware of all strategies to counter the weakness of the United Nations and the
dominance of certain lobbying groups (notably the oil and nuclear industry). The
strategies discussed by the International working group revolve around direct action,
research and negotiation.
Project ideas which have been discussed are a counter/alternative meeting at the same
time and place as the UN meeting and/or a symbolic event such as The Climate Train to
Kyoto. Please bring YOUR ideas to us! What do you think would be the most effective
way to radicalise the UN agenda and protect the climate from our current economic
and political systems? There are plans for a team to work in USA on a parallel
campaign.
The project should begin by the end of the 1999.
Are you a person who has the energy, skills and commitment to coordinate the European
component of an international campaign?
(unfortunately, the funding is only for people *under 26 years of age *from Iceland,
Norway, Algeria, Cyprus, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Malta, Morocco, Palestine,
Syria, Tunisia, Turkey or any EU country)
Please make your proposal for the campaign which you would like to be part of…

Your 3 examples earned an average of 166.66 million; to reach 1.8Bn you need 10.8 groups if we assume the sample was representative.
Here’s a list; but it’s not complete. The Carbon Trust and Clinton’s foundation are missing from it, for instance.

There’s hundreds and hundreds of them. Whoever added it all up and arrived at 1.8Bn Aussie Dollars does sound believable.

Government grants. You may be able to get a grant to undertake your project. Or the group may be able to contract for government-instigated research which is in their field of expertise.”
