Instead of a protest, I would set up a table, and sell “The Hockey Stick Illusion” and other relevant books/material, with the appropriate permits, of course.

HOLY HOCKEY STICK. There, FIFY!

A lot of hockey playing in Minnesota? People should bring broken hockey sticks to the “welcome.”

Don’t be afraid to protest. Keep it witty, and clean.
Don’t be cowed by the liklihood of biased MSM coverage. The thinking public sees through that bias.
The unthinking public will see protests on Wall Street, plus protests of a climate scientist, and will conclude: Wall Street = Climate Science.
Proving, once again, that sometimes the blind squirrel finds the nut.

I support the right of the protesters at Wall Street. They are morons. But, I support their right to protest.

If you show your work, everyone has your back.
If you really did science, everyone would have your back.
If you have integrity, everyone has your back.
If you have facts, everyone has your back.
Who has Spencer’s back?
Who has Svensmark’s back?
etc.

Mann is speaking in one of several 15 minute blocks, so are a pair from the UCS! See:

The abstracts of the talks are copyrighted, so I just pulled the titles from the schedule.
Demonstrations are good to attract media attention. Not so good for presenting the other side of Mann’s and UCS’s stories to the 6,000(!) attendees. It seems to me there ought to be several fans of WUWT and M4GW attending.

Here’s the thing, I heard Mann give a talk where he was asked if what you’re saying is true then aren’t climate models vastly overstating warming, and he responded, I agree with that. There’s this reputation out there that I am some sort of climate alarmist…but I think there’s a missing negative feedback.

Protests a bad idea. But if you must make a statement…
I see tens of folks in polar bear suits with signs pinned to the back reading ‘CONSENSUS’, doing a coordinated military drill with hockey sticks instead of rifles. Present arms as Mann passes by.

Why do you and many others confuse everyone’s right to criticize the OWS mob with the idea that the substance of the criticism is therefore also saying or implying that the OWS mob doesn’t have a right to legally assemble and “speak”, too, such as it is? It is what the OWS mob does and “communicates”, not its right to do it which is the issue, as long as it is legal. And do you realize that the mob does not have a right to trespass, or enter your house, obstruct public thoroughfares and private businesses by disorderly conduct, etc., threaten people, and litter and otherwise make big messes of public areas at the public’s expense, or violate any other law that applies, any more than anyone else does?

Each day I think certain e-mails may show collusion between Big Mann and Big Goverment.
‘Who’s got our backs?’ – sounds like a call to arms for certain people that have been rolling in the lolly and power created by this ‘enviro scare shake down’. Trouble is Dr Mann your science or lack of is starting to scare people in high places that don’t want to be associated to your.

October 12, 2011 1:13 am

Best of luck! We all should be on the front lines protesting at facilities that are hotspots of waisting our green tax dollars on the scam and using our precious food for fuel.
As far as the OWS goes I’m flabbergasted that Bentonville, Arkansas isn’t an occupation target. That’s where all your jobs went, where our trade laws went and preferred trading status to a communist country was cooked up. The big multi-national company headquartered there has done more to promote economic inequality, corporate greed and lack of opportunity for Americans than any company traded on Wall Street. They should be in the face of all the rich people where they actually live & golf and they sure are plentiful in Benton County.

You guys really think that protesting at the Geological Society of America’s annual meeting is going to make people take you seriously? The professional Earth Science community already thinks you’re uneducated bozo’s, and this will confirm their suspicions.

Oh the irony!!
David, when you’ve learnt how to use the apostrophe, then you can come back and lecture others on being uneducated.
