UPDATE: All of the Gore-a-thon posts and cartoons are now available in the Climate Fail Files page here
If you noticed a change in the header, this is why.
Our rebuttal of Al Gore’s 24 hours of Climate Reality aka the Gore-a-thon is On-The-Air. Josh is leading the charge chortles. We’ll have a new Josh cartoon, along with commentary, graphs and links every hour starting at 5PM PST to match the starting time of the CRP. They appear below this post.
You can watch the live video presentation here, I urge everyone to do so (because after hour 4 it is starting to look like a massive dud, Al needs the help) and to make notes about it during the appropriate hour. Alternate video link here at Ustream.
Here’s the trailer advertising it:
If you run a blog, we hope you’ll participate and use the content. If you don’t have a blog, get one for free here and join in the fun using the free content we’ll provide.
All good clean fun of course. While we have some great ideas for the program, WUWT readers often come up with some great ones too. Luboš Motl has some fun ideas already.
Ideas and discussion welcome below.
UPDATE: The Climate Reality project has released two videos hyping the event. It appears they’ll be smearing some of what is in the videos.
Of course, they are asking for money, a minimum of $10 after viewing them. They write with the mass email:
While some folks have told us these aren’t exactly family fare, we think they make a point that’s long overdue. And you can help make sure that everyone who you think can handle them, sees them.
We are planning an online ad buy — but we need your help to reach as many people as possible. Will you donate $10 to get this message out?
http://forms.climaterealityproject.org/ad-donate
Your donation will help us spread the Climate Reality message in a unique and effective way. Tell the world: The climate crisis is not a debate. It’s reality. And the time to take action is not the future — it’s right now. The fat lady has sung.
Watch the videos and make a donation today. Anything you give makes a difference:

The time to act is now. The denial has hit the fan.

WUWT readers may recall that Mr Bogusky is the “interviewer” for Al Gore’s recent racist slur against climate skeptics.

He gets fatter and more dissipated each time I see him. He is the devil sliming out from under my shoes and he will destroy us all if not returned to the hole he crawled from.
Or to put it another way:-
I am gross and perverted, I am obsessed and deranged
I have existed for years but very little has changed
I am the tool of the government and industry too
For I am destined to rule and regulate you
I may be vile and pernicious but you can’t look away
I make you think I’m delicious with the stuff that I say
I’m the best you can get, have you guessed me yet?
I’m the slime oozing out from your T.V. set

Reveal the deniers eh? Australia Big Al, Victoria. Come at me!
The sceptisism here on Oz is slowly but surely taking hold. Government is on its knees because of Carbon Tax as I am sure you are aware. Keep fighting the good fight!
Does this mean it will snow of Sept 14th??
.
Does he think that 24 hours of political spin is going to persuade anyone?
I’m guessing he is not trying to gain more acolytes but stop losing anyone more .
>>But worst, is the IPCC scandal regarding the Horn of Africa. Please check
>>out about Horngate:
The biggest ‘scandal’ in the horn of Africa is not the drought, but the population explosion. There have always been famines in the horn of Africa, it is a part of the climate system there. But since the ’73 famine, where there was massive foreign aid, they have managed to treble the population in the region. So they complain about starvation and plead for help – then treble the population and complain about starvation and plead for help.
One of the key attributes of human civilisation is to plan ahead for future calamities, including food supply and population levels. But if you want to be an unthinking lemming, then just jump off the cliff when the populations gets too high.

Dr Spencer currently has more downloads of SB11 than Al Gore (love him to bits) has You Tube views of his C.R.a.P. video.

Companion piece from the ever-informative Washington Post
http://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/toles?wpisrc=nl_opinions
The 2nd video, “Denial Hits the Fan”, while loaded with climate bedwetter symbolism is bizarre, with little logic to it. We have: 1) An old-fashioned oil derrick running the whole Goldbergian show, which starts up a 2) black soot-spewing truck diesel motor which operates a 3) small fan (representing wind power?), blowing towards 4) Earth. Next we have a 5) coal truck loaded with coal heading down a ramp towards a platform containing 6) black (oil?) barrels and 7) a steel beam, which stops the truck, but not before it hits one of the barrels which rolls down an incline at the end of which is a 8) “Caution” sign which the barrel hits, which is attached to a 9) catapult with a hand at the end, which contains 10) a substance, which is well-packed, and solid enough to hold together during the flinging action and in-flight, representing, if not in actuality bull CR(a)P, which is easily demolished by the fan, which flings it at the Earth.
It certainly confirms the idea that they are staunchly anti-industry, and anti-fossil-fuels. The whole idea that “Big Coal” and “Big Oil” are behind what they like to call “climate denial” is both Orwellian and deliciously absurd. The actuality is, of course, that the climate bedwetters have not only been flinging their climate CR(a)P in huge quantities for years, but have been carpet-bombing humanity with it, via the MSM. ALGore’s own little 24-hour carpet-bombing stint is simply laughable in its scope and pretentiousness. But, with the Warmist Empire coming to an end, desperate times call for desperate measures.
Whilst wondering how much the youth of America and the UK are invested in Al Gores world of C.R.a.P. and also noting that both Dessler and Gore are making videos I did a little light You-tube research. Al’s best performance appears to be his GW in 10 minutes at 342,115 views. The X-factor has Paul Potts at 82,352,761 views. American Idol has Lauren Alaina and Scotty Mccreery at 2,371,511 views. Glee has Don’t Stop Believing at 6,820,382 views. I only looked at the first pages except for Gore where I looked as far as boredom let me. It would appear that the number one concern of modern youth is not climate change. (Please add in your own error bars and fudge factors, and a sprinkle of soot to make the result look better.)
Maybe sometime during the Gore 24 hr fest he will join hands around a simulated campfire (don’t want any nasty CO2) with his closest acolytes and sing kumbaya.
Awwwwww . . . .

Liberals are who they are because they live in a malleable internal reality of their own making. I call it their plastic reality. That is exactly why Gore can claim that when (like-minded) people around the world join hands, they can create “24 hours of reality”. That is to say, a reality of their own making. A reality in which things they want to believe are true is the only “truth” and anything they don’t like is not “truth”.
If manbearpig were to talk for 24 hours straight, how much climate change would happen?
Get out your marshmellows!
When “science” becomes a badly produced cartoon video, run, do not walk, to the nearest exit. I remember watching sex ed cartoons in high school, compared with the one I watched as a college freshman. The former was filled with jokes and little naked blobby figures telling us what not to do. The college film was filled with actual photos of STD’s along with testimonials and infection rates over time. Guess which one kept my Catholic sins in check.
The current state of climate models, public propaganda films and the persona emanating from Gore reminds me of the cartoonish sex ed videos. The “both sides” discussions and posts in blogs like this one make me think, ponder, and keep searching for more information. I do wish however, that folks here on both sides would stick to primarily serious debate instead of drive bys. I enjoy the tongue in cheek pithy comment now and then but, and you know who you are, those that only do drive bys are ignored by me as being less than informed no matter which way they swing.
One would expect lots of nonsense similar to what was presented in the following discussion by Rocky Kistner at HuffingtonPost:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/rocky-kistner/scientists-warn-extreme-w_b_953762.html
And how do Climate Reality’s website visit stats compare with WUWT’s this week?
Just askin’.
24 hours of reality. It’s at least a beginning.
Then the alarmists crawl back into model world for the next 364 days …
The gorefest will have two highlights. First, the rumor is that President Obama (the Obamanable Snowman) will give a teleprompter reading explaining why his 8 September speech requesting billions for economic stimulus wasn’t a snow job. Second, the manbearpig will give a reading of his new poem: “Where did all my support go?”
Is that second video telling me that if I don’t dramatically lower my standard of living, in order for the scammers to buy yet another piece of beach front property, turds will be flying through the air? Will it be an exponentially increasing amount of turds, as in hockey stick?
Questions questions from those bitter clingers of the scientific method!
Debate is healthy so bring it on.
There are gaping holes in the CAGW litany and by debating they will expose them.
Temperature has risen slightly since the beginning of records. [.7 ° C in 150 years]
http://data.giss.nasa.gov/gistemp/graphs/Fig.A2.gif
Is this a problem ? No but the alarmists claim the rate is increasing.
Since it hasn’t warmed in 13 years [despite tons of CO2] this is obviously a well picked cherry. The ocean level rise was only 3 MM per year [or 1 cigarette length in 30 years] and it has turned NEGATIVE for the last few years. [As you would expect if it fails to warm.]

Lucia is reporting a new CT ice area record broken so these people have gotten their wish so they can scare the buhjeebus out of their followers.
I have to say it’s been amusing following some of the comments on the facebook page. All sorts of rubbish gets a complete pass as long as it agrees with the meme but as soon as a skeptic shows up and makes a few points, one or two of them demands they provide citations and proceed to gang up on him/her. Eventually, the poster’s comments disappear altogether, presumably because they got booted.

” … A further interrogatory, if I may; does common windows or Linux application software in Europe or the ROW use the European week format?”
Short answer, Jim – yes. My (UK) Windows Date/Time thing shows Saturday and Sunday together on the right, Monday to the left. However, as soon as I looked at it again, it reminded me that I’d always found that presentation rather strange, as most of the other calendars I’ve ever seen in the UK (and I live here!) put Sunday at the left. Perhaps, as I remember my old mathematics teacher saying, “In general, nothing can be said”.
As for the prospect of “that” 24 hours … Gore Delpus. At least we’ll probably get less of it over here than you sufferin’ US readers.

“24 hours of reality. It’s at least a beginning.”
They use “reality” as a marketing term, not in the way ordinary humans understand the word…
