The 24 hour Gore-a-thon on WUWT

UPDATE: All of the Gore-a-thon posts and cartoons are now available in the Climate Fail Files page here

If you noticed a change in the header, this is why.

Our rebuttal of Al Gore’s 24 hours of Climate Reality aka the Gore-a-thon is On-The-Air. Josh is leading the charge chortles. We’ll have a new Josh cartoon, along with commentary, graphs and links every hour starting at 5PM PST to match the starting time of the CRP. They appear below this post.

You can watch the live video presentation here, I urge everyone to do so (because after hour 4 it is starting to look like a massive dud, Al needs the help) and to make notes about it during the appropriate hour. Alternate video link here at Ustream.

Here’s the trailer advertising it:

If you run a blog, we hope you’ll participate and use the content. If you don’t have a blog, get one for free here and join in the fun using the free content we’ll provide.

All good clean fun of course. While we have some great ideas for the program, WUWT readers often come up with some great ones too. Luboš Motl has some fun ideas already.

Ideas and discussion welcome below.

UPDATE: The Climate Reality project has released two videos hyping the event. It appears they’ll be smearing some of what is in the videos.

Of course, they are asking for money, a minimum of $10 after viewing them. They write with the mass email:

While some folks have told us these aren’t exactly family fare, we think they make a point that’s long overdue. And you can help make sure that everyone who you think can handle them, sees them.

We are planning an online ad buy — but we need your help to reach as many people as possible. Will you donate $10 to get this message out?

http://forms.climaterealityproject.org/ad-donate

Your donation will help us spread the Climate Reality message in a unique and effective way. Tell the world: The climate crisis is not a debate. It’s reality. And the time to take action is not the future — it’s right now. The fat lady has sung.

Watch the videos and make a donation today. Anything you give makes a difference:

http://forms.climaterealityproject.org/ad-donate

The time to act is now. The denial has hit the fan.

Thanks,

Alex Bogusky

The Climate Reality Project.

WUWT readers may recall that Mr Bogusky is the “interviewer” for Al Gore’s recent racist slur against climate skeptics.

How can Gore say “Big Oil and Big Coal” are paying to tell lies (that is what he is clearly saying or meaning) without it being a slander on the Big Oil and Big Coal companies? I am an oil and gas geologist who is also a skeptic. Suzuki has said I am an antievironmentalist in the pay of the fossil fuel companies to spread disinformation and sabatoge the anti-CO2 message. Cannot I or others challenge Suzuki and Gore to say who is getting paid, by whom and for what conspiratorial reasons, and how much?
McCarthy claimed that there were 52 (or some number) of Communists in Congress. Gore is saying the same thing, except it is the skeptics. Moreover, unlike McCarthy and his Communist congressmen, Gore is saying that we in the o & g business are being paid as unidentified lobbyists, that certain large, multi-national oil and coal companies are lobbying illegially, conspiring against the American (and Canadian) people and elected governments in the pursuit of private, commercial agendas against the health and wealth of both the people and the governments. Can’t someone call these Gore-ite conspiracy and defamation experts on the carpet and make them put up or apologize and shut-up?
Do “Big Oil” and “Big Coal” really have more to fear than the Big Green and Big Al have to show about their personal financial interests and lobbying efforts?

There is also a “Date Reality” problem. Check the video 0:35. Gore’s September 2011 calendar
shows September 14 to be a Tuesday. My 2011 recyclable paper wall calendar shows September 14 as a Wednesday.

Poor AlGore (& co.) – what a maroon! Can’t even get the dates right for his own event!!

I didn’t see days of the week on that calendar. Could his calendar week start with Monday instead of Sunday? The guy’s not from this planet, remember…

Just another example of improper or lack of labeling of axis by someone with no scientific background.

So Gore calls the faithful to 24 hours of reality. Really? Isn’t 24 hours excessive to the tender sensibilities of these delusional folk.Wouldn’t they be safer to try 5 micro-seconds first(Which =their attention span) before trying a whole day. I mean reality can really bite if you have no experience of this state. Do I need sarc?

So, your thesis contends there is a Euro-centric ‘bent’ to AlGore’s presentation?
A further interrogatory, if I may; does common windows or Linux application software in Europe or the ROW use the European week format? As an assiduous reader above noted, the NA Windows visual presentation of Set Date/Time function shows the week days centered betwixt weekend days.

I’ve been waiting patiently for my first Big Oil/Big Coal check to come in.
The Warmists keep saying that we’re all in danger of rising Sea Levels. Did they mean the rising Gas Prices at the pump?

Calendar for Setember 2011?
Gore’s calendar has the week starting (apparently) on Monday.
However, everyday is labeled September.

An inconvenient truth, Al forgets to mention a large portion of his family wealth was derived from oil. Nice one Al!

At the risk (ok, it’s a certainty) of being considered a bit crude, I’d like to make an open suggestion to all the thermophobes. Given that methane has a much stronger greenhouse effect than carbon dioxide, and that many thermophobes have taken to vegetarianism which commonly has the effect of producing a lot of intestinal gas, I urge that these people make a habit of lighting their farts wherever they happen to be when flatulence overtakes them. This will result in the burning of the methane into less calamitous plant food.
I hope against hope that Josh finds this suggestion a suitable topic for a nice cartoon.

I read a poll recently that only about 40% of the population in the USA believe “global warming” is a problem. If just half that lot donate $10 then Al stands to clear $600,000,000. Nice, if you can get it.

He is simply using a European style calendar, the week starting with Montag. Perhaps says something about where most of his fans (and movie makers) are located, but nothing more.

We do need The Climate Reality Project (C.R.a.P for short) because without a fresh set of Gorisms people get jaded by our repetitions of his serial blunders of the past. Now we have a chance for a whole new layer of Gorebage.
