We have the ongoing Wegman and the Mashey/DeepClimate “Copygate dustup” at Fairfax based George Mason University, now we have even more going on in Virginia. It seems we have dueling witchhunts.
Exhibit A: The usual angry rhetoric over some MediaMatters OpEd:

Exhibit B: Now we have a new investigation in the making:

Story here
I suppose witch-hunts are in the eye of the beholder.
As a “well” funded skeptic I would be glad to testify to the energy company generous funding. I will need to take up donations for buss fare. pg
Mr. Waxman (oh, dare I wish it to be true…there is a double meaning here!), please, oh PLEASE investigate this skeptic. And PLEASE help me find that funding. My unemployment runs out soon.
Bully for you, “bankers” and D.C. political “cock ups”, who really are the most ignorant types. This once proud worker in the “nuclear industry” shall soon be selling pencils upon the street. (iPads?) Anyway, it is IRONIC that I might find my way back into the good graces of the “Nuclear Industry” if I were to begin singing the AWG song.
(See the Nuclear Energy Institute website.)
Alas, I could not allow myself in good faith to continue existance on this Earth if I did that. Better a LOW ESTATE than to become an intellectual prostitute for the sake of a more sumptuous life style.
The annoying thing is that
1- Issa is not acting strong on getting into the needed AGW investigations.
2- a boorish twit like Waxman is trying to set the agenda Issa should be setting.
Which raises the question if Issa, after so much tough talk, is going to be the strong chair this committee needs?
After all, Issa has apparently already backed down from looking into warming.
Ask yourself what is in Langley Virginia?
What percentage of folks in Virginia are either empolyed by the Feds, retired from the Feds, or trying to escape the thumb of the Feds?
So you get some fairly draconian behavior on some things (like traffic laws) side by side with loose laws on others. The conflict between “old Virginia” and “DC Virginia”…
hunter – I think Issa is leaving this one to the science and commerce folks.
Carol Browner just made like a banana and split before Upton had a chance to haul her up to the hill.
I will be exceptionally frustrated if in three months Lisa Jackson hasn’t been nailed to a chair and grilled to a char over every punctuation mark in the CO2 endangerment finding. I don’t see how she and her minions have a prayer of defending it. Frankly, I figured Jackson would be gone by now, but if she’s going to hang around, then pulp her.
Here is Henry Waxman in his full glory of complete idiocy.
A truly bad BAD bureaucrat for sure….and completely dumb, to boot:
Yeah right, Henry. Like I am going to listen to one iota of what you have to say!

Huh, odd, I find myself siding with Waxman in that video. Why wouldn’t a man from the EPA disclose what he speaks to the president about?
He said couldn’t disclose for reasons on confidentiality. Waxman did get the answer required. He should know details can’t be spoken in public on C-SPAN. He went beyond what is allowed by demanding details. The other Rep. was telling him he was overstepping. But Waxman wanted to push anyway, for whatever reason. Bush was president at the time. So it could be Waxman was inferring that Bush and the EPA man had something to hide. Waxman is of Waxman-Markey. He was pushing for carbon tax and trade, or whatever it’s called now, and if he could create suspicion about Bush and pollution regulation he may have felt it would help pass a bill with his name on it.
So we see politics at its worst. At least he didn’t try to beat him within an inch of his life with a cane like a Rep did to another Rep in front of the other politicians over slavery before the Civil War began.
May I roll my eyes? Thank you. (eyeroll)
Can we just compare funding en masse?
Mr. Waxman……let there be investigation into funding of all sides. Including yours.
yes, the nostrilman needs to be investigated as well…
i think the dems suffer from projection…like when they(esp. pelosi) were all astounded by the number of Americans protesting against the building of the mosque at ground zero – the dems claimed they were “astroturf” and demanded to know who was funding them, lol…talk about about delusional….
I, too, wish to confess to being funded for sceptical activities – I get a magnificent free bus and train pass from our local authority here in London, UK to attend all those clandestine sceptical organisation meetings in the Albert Hall and other places in this great city… waddya mean, everyone here over over 65 gets one? Damm! And I thought I was special. Oh well…
Seriously, I watched the video clips of the little mustachioed US politician. He has managed to combine a strange combination of arrogance, stupidity and ignorance, but I suspect he is not unique among his peers…my Dad warned me when I was a young fella that anyone who wanted me to vote for them would be worthy of my deepest suspicion.
Thank you,Thank you.Peter Sissions BBC new reporter for letting us know the truth
of how the BBC thinks on the sceptical argument of AGW. A true journalist.

Waxman might as well rename himself Congressman Witchhunt. The guy is the #1 political hatchetman in Washington. His is the piglike face of the rich, Hollywood dimwits who bemoan Co2’s poisonous properties from the backseat of their idiling Hummer Limo.
Wow! I just had a look at Media Matters and the write-up on the legal brouhaha in Virginia – MM makes the various print versions of the lamestream media in the UK appear to be very models of rationality and civility. Are these people aggressively defending their faith in AGW or is ‘attack mode’ their default position?
Obviously, my impressions of people from the USA from meeting them and working with them over the years- friendly, gregarious, open – is in error. WUWT?
MediadoesnotMatter.org is making the same critical mistake I see so many of the AGW make – asking skeptics to “disprove” anything. The level of science ignorance is just astounding. One has but to follow the scientific method to know that skeptics need prove nothing. AGW has yet to prove anything.
They are a left wing shill outfit that refuses to see the lumber in their own eye while demanding the mote in their oppositions eye be investigated.
Media Matters is funded by George Soros and the Tides Foundation, who have also spent over $1 million trying to get Glen Beck off the air.
I’ve never seen Beck before, but I ran across this. He seems pretty normal to me.
That Waxman video is really irritating.
