New video: Global Warming's effects, A to Z

I’m sure many of you have heard of the “complete list of things caused by global warming”

Dr. John Brignell, a retired professor of industrial instrumentation at the University of Southampton in Britain, compiled an impressive list of alarmist claims cited in news reports that man-made global warming has caused, or will cause. There are 826 things on that list, some are even contradictory.

Now, to put a visual face on this list, we have a video. While it doesn’t cover all 826 things that are “caused by global warming.” It’s fun and entertaining to watch because it picks some of the most salient effects. Don’t watch it while eating your morning corn flakes.

Have a look:

  1. That was hilarious!!!! But what I find a bit of a concern is the number of these scare stories originate in the UK and Australia. Hummm…

  2. As an Australian, a country whose population is approximately 0.035% (a third of one percent) of the world’s total human population, I am mortified to see that our media is responsible for at least 25% of stupid alarmist media beat-ups worldwide.
A sad indictment indeed of our educational institutions.

  3. The one item I kinda had to agree with was the claim that AGW will lead to increased mental illness. It certainly seems to have driven quite a few of its proponents completely around the bend.

  4. Ouch! (Yesterday’s raisin bran!)
Bigger spiders and shrinking sheep…but can there be a realistic explanation?
Oh, I know: increased CO2 and reduced O2 affect them both, to the benefit of the spiders, so it .
    Spider muscles are anaerobic and
    Sheep delirious; arachnophobic…
Both now spend their days running…
    The same race they’re in,
    but with opposing goals.
ahhhhhhh! Climate Change! It’s out to get me!

  5. I have been a frequent visitor to John Brignell’s blog for years. Do pay him a visit, and you will see that it’s not only AGW, but DDT and Asbestos to name but two other scandals, and that’s before he starts his attacks on the statistics of epidemiology.
Don’t read him instead of WUWT but in addition to.

His witty and pithy barbs against the idiot fringe are highly entertaining, and he is exactly the sort of eloquent man we need to debate with Al Gore, who would run a mile to avoid him!

Don’t worry Patrick, our newspapers are like vacuum cleaners, they pick up fluff from anywhere.

    ……………………….
You took the words right out of my mouth Dave!
    Best example?
    Jo Abbess
If you want to see a good example – look at her site.

  8. Patrick Davis, Yes, we often get confused with Austria.
Australia is the place where you find good humour.

  9. So….. let’s see… never, ever breathe on yourself! It’s that dirty CO2!!!!
And, and, and… germs just flock to it.
What a bunch of crap… this is right down Tamino’s flocks’ alley as I learned after spending some time reading on his site recently, what a cesspool! They’ll eat that list up. And guys, I understand it’s all 100% pure peer reviewed, the good stuff, no need to question it!

  10. That is just about as funny as when those zany scientists said they could put a person on the Moon.
Everybody knows a warmer Planet will have absolutely no effect on life on this Planet, just like the Ice ages had no effect, it is hilarious to suggest otherwise.

  11. From the Jo Abbess site: “Digging high calorie substances out of the ground and burning them in very large quantities is having a negative effect on the ability of the Earth to sustain Life. Ponder that for a while.”
I would argue that statement as the opposite: “Digging high calorie substances out of the ground and burning them in very large quantities is having a positive effect on the ability of the Earth to sustain Life. Ponder that for a while.”
Consider that the current world population is only sustainable because of the energy reserves we use. Check out the book ” Eating Fossil Fuels” by Dale Allen Pfeiffer
Jo’s web makes many statements that are simply wild speculation and not substantiated.

Hey, I didn’t see any fluff from that broad academic industry of sexology:-
    maybe head lines soon…………………..
Global warming affects population fertility- think of the endless variables to be researched!

  13. My initial impression was that the list of things caused by global warming was supposed to be a list of actual claims, but when I followed the asteroid story I discovered that it was a joke.

The positive effect also derives from CO2’s “fertilization” of plants.

  15. yes, and “shrinking brains” is already happening … (should I mention California as an example? No, I won’t.)

  16. Thanks Dr. Brignell and Smokey. Made my day.
Who wants still to be an “expert” after watching that?

  17. One slide says “Global Warming Depresses Beer Drinkers”. As one beer drinker I can say that I am not depressed.
    Funny video though. 🙂

  18. David L.
“Global warming is also causing a proliferation of funny videos!”
Not to mention a proliferation of alarmist oral defecation.

the main thing that i believe is that your brain shrinks if you belive in global warming

No, that’s a missdiagnosis. Constant brainwashing causes the shrinkage, just like with cheap jeans. However, different than jeans, the shrinkage is not assymptotic, but linear.
Here’s a tip on how to medically diagnose a warmer who has reached the final stage:
Put one index finger into each of their ears. If your finger-tips touch, you’ve found one.

  20. He seems to have missed the global vampire infestation, not to mention the Klingon invasion that global warming causes

  21. don’t you people realise that all those films about giant crocs, spiders, and snakes (eg, curse of the komodo) are true global warming stories made to warn us, and not just sci fi movies?

  22. re:
“complete list of things caused by global warming”
I was intersted in the “attack of the giant jellyfish”
Can’t wait for the movie 😉

  23. It will prevail, no matter what we may argue, no matter WUWT. Everyday I hear early in the morning a propaganda about Climate Change. The guys behind Global Warming/Climate Change/Climate Disruption/Biodiversity, won’t change their mind no matter what we say or do. Is it possible anything different?

  24. flesh eating disease
    hahahahahahahahahahaha
You’re right, have nothing in the mouth!

  25. The ‘danger’ to family pets, I believe, is true. I remember a ‘green’ proposal that went something like be green and eat you pet. An article pointed out the carbon footprint of a pet. And of course, you should not eat beef.

  26. A simple equation, with inputs of only sunspot number and carbon dioxide level, calculates the average global temperature trends since 1895 with 88% accuracy. See the equation, an eye-opening graph of the results and how they are derived in the pdfs at http://climaterealists.com/index.php?tid=145&linkbox=true (see especially the pdfs made public on 4/10/10 and 6/27/10). The future average global temperature trend that this equation calculates is down.

  27. I truly believe that those who believe in anthropogenic climate change DO suffer from mental illness and shrinking brains.

  28. wow, what a bogus list; either links to non-scientific articles (like “earth will explode”), or biased commentary from ‘skeptics’ (like “grandstanding”), or mangled newspaper reporting.

In many cases you are correct. But these items are what the MSM are reporting, and what Joe Public believes that scientists (as in “The Consensus”) are saying.
If the MSM reported the facts, then very few would believe in AGW to begin with.
