Climate change and "The Birds"

From the “you can’t make this stuff up” department. Climate change is now blamed for what is called “Gary Larson events” in homage to the famed creator of the comic strip “The Far Side”

“We saw birds dying of what at best could be called Gary Larson events,” said Mark Mallory of the Canadian Wildlife Service in Iqaluit. “You see a bird for apparently no good reason fly into the cliff and die. You’ve got to be kidding.”

Of course, only MSNBC could be relied upon to report such scary science news. Here’s the link:

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/36202287/ns/technology_and_science-science/

Now I understand how the bird tragedy shown below happened.

We just didn’t look closely enough for a the cause of why the birds went crazy back then.

Look for a sequel soon. Ed Begley Jr. is being considered for the lead male actor role.

Beth Cooper (03:01:50) :

Maybe these birds are lemmings? What about beaching whales, could they also be possible victims of CAGW ? Hmmm, so many questions, so few answers

You could be on to something here…. Perhaps the birds understand that there is no better time than now to try have themselves included politically as yet one more ‘victim class’ hoping for increased handouts, set-asides and special rights. I had a parakeet once; he was one sharp little guy. He would have tried for something like this, (but he would have goaded one of my Java Temple birds into taking the fall for the cause).

I also have shut my TV off. The news media and inane programming were the cause. Even the comedy shows weren’t funny anymore. Besides, you can’t say anything funny anymore out of concern that you might get some focus group all out of sorts. But it was the news media that finally put the notion in my head that the TV needed to die. If I heard Fox news say one more time, “fair and balanced” I was going to have to move a puke bucket next to my couch. And msnbc went off the deep end much the same way the ubiquitous religious dooms Sayers did on campus in the 70’s with their 10 foot high signs that the world is coming to an end and you must believe in [fill in the blank].
I want my Chet and David back.

Karl Gustav Jung thought that the subconscious mind (in this case those minds who think or feel an armageddon) projects itself ouside. This phenomenon he called it the “constellization” of a symbol. It is evident that this kind of projection has been and it is happening among the english speaking countries, specially in the US. Let me tell you that we, the people from other countries, do not feel anything of the like. Does this mean somtehing to you?
From HAARP to Al Baby and Al-Qaida, you are in a kind of almost WANTING THE END.

There was a grotesque ad some time ago showing some animals killing themselves after thoughtful consideration. A monkey hangs himself from a tree, a bear jumps off a cliff, and a kangoroo hops in front of a train. This is from a Portuguese environmental organization called Quercus. At the end, the caption says: “Global Warming: If we give up, they give up.”

When Gary Larson was new on the scene and had just appeared in local (Seattle) papers, I had a comment to make on one of his cartoons and did something unusual for me: I contacted him. His number was in the phone book. He was a really nice guy and seemed pleased and surprised at my enthusiasm for his work. We happily chatted for over 15 minutes. I’m glad he was successful.

Some birds were killed by erosion of their cliff nests, crushed by melting ice, crushed by avalanches, or slammed into the ocean by really strong winds.
So, apparently, these events never happened before “Climate Change” ?
… but then again there has always been some level of climate change.

I’ve seen birds fly into windows, fences, tree trunks, electrical transformers hung on telephone poles, and cars parked on a quiet street — during periods of low visibility, they’ll fly into boats, the sides of buildings or each other. That’s something that birds *do*.
Now, when TV reporters sprout feathers and start flying into the sides of their sets…

Is there any more info on these birds? I mean, do they taste good? I’m thinking, if we can get our hands on some stimulus money, we could start a government funded program to bring these birds to the US. The lack of good, fresh food for inner city kids seems to be a big problem. Lets boost their nutrition!! Don’t you people care about the children?? Seems like we could kill two birds with one stone here.

Perhaps it is just a case of these birds not understanding what happens to other birds that fly into cliffs. Much like humans who try to skateboard down a metal railing even though there are hours of video showing the usual crotchety results.

OK, OK. Let’s see now.
To create a stable population of “millions” of birds, one must have an equal number of births and deaths each breeding season.
Thus, a stable population requires that each pair supply over their lifetime, at least 2.001 eggs (one male, one female, and an assorted variety of transgender and homosexual eggs) surviving into adulthood and breeding.
A stable population of several million also REQUIRES several million deaths from all causes – a simple fact this “scholar” overlooks. So, without CAGW, we’d obviously be overrun with birdbrains. (Regretably, most of them would prove to be liberal voters ….)
Enviro’s have yet to find a single species killed by global warming ……

Robins in my yard were having a party eating fermented hawthorne berries hanging in the tree leftover from the previous fall one year. They got drunk and were unable to maneuver well–5 died crashing into my house. If you think drinking and driving is bad…

” ‘We saw birds dying of what at best could be called Gary Larson events,’ said Mark Mallory of the Canadian Wildlife Service in Iqaluit.”
“In another slapstick, albeit sad, event, a thick-billed murre was found dead after getting its foot stuck in a crack in the cliff face on Coats Island.”
“Scientists observed six species, including the fulmars, dying in slapstick, albeit tragic, ways.”
Just imagine all of the hilarious ways animals die when no-one is even around to witness it.

RISE IN AGW CO2 FORCES BIRDS TO FLY LOWER………………….
Obviously, the higher concentration of CO2 in the air is forcing the birds to fly lower. Gore needs to form construction conglomerate and fit proximity warning systems to all hills and cliffs, buildings, etc.

Perhaps like the monks that would set themselves on fire in protest of war. These birds are committing ritualized suicide to draw attention to the CAGW cause?
There are probably actual moonbats that would believe that.

We have many thousands here in SC that we would like to deport or kill.

When I was a teenager in the 60’s, I regularly watched birds flying into my parent’s living room picture window, smashing their head against the glass, dropping to the ground, fluttering for a moment, then dying.
It never occurred to me to blame these bird-brain events on the climate. Who would have ever guessed?
The more interesting bird-brain events are now occurring within the press rooms of the MSM.
Thank you MSNBC, your articles have a definite value, but not as you intended. It’s sci-fi entertainment to those who can see through it and don their hip-waders. Who writes this stuff?

“But the raven, sitting lonely on the placid bust, spoke only,
That one word, as if his soul in that one word he did outpour.
Nothing further then he uttered – not a feather then he fluttered –
Till I scarcely more than muttered `Other friends have flown before –
On the morrow he will leave me, as my hopes have flown before.’
Then the bird said, `Nevermore”
