Strange but true – Bin Laden on Global Warming

From My Way News

The world of climate change alarmism just got a new ally. No I’m not kidding.

http://halganka.files.wordpress.com/2009/09/osama-bin-laden-1998-thumb.jpg

CAIRO (AP) – Al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden has called in a new audiotape for the world to boycott American goods and the U.S. dollar, blaming the United States and other industrialized countries for global warming.

In the tape, aired in part on Al-Jazeera television Friday, bin Laden warns of the dangers of climate change and says that the way to stop it is to bring “the wheels of the American economy” to a halt.

Umm, where have we heard this before?

Hmm – can’t be in the mountains – perhaps OBL is hiding in an urban location!

May be in Al Baby’s house?

I seriously doubt that OBL has converted to the AGW religion. What this does indicate though is the enormous success of the message western governments have been sending to developing countries regarding paying climate restitution.

“This is gutter talk at best. The guy is a mass murderer. I find it deeply troubling that he be compared to Mann, Hansen, Gore etc… you all should be deeply ashamed of yourselves.”
Not that your point is invalid. But is there any evidence that OBL has directly killed anyone? Isn’t he basically a crackpot leader and fundraiser for terrorist groups who was just very good at his job? I’m perfectly willing to accept that I may be totally wrong here, but from a organizational standpoint, there’s little difference between what the IPCC leaders do, and what OBL does or did on a daily basis (assuming he’s dead). They spout bullcrap to everyone, pimp their organization and goals to those who might fund them, and the end result is potentially chaos and death. Do Jones/Hansen/Pachauri mean to kill anyone? Of course not. Did the people who banned DDT mean to cause the deaths of millions? The road to hell is paved with the best of intentions.

His goal is the same – to destroy the US economy.

Growth ‘drowns-out’ efficiency gains. Environmental ‘tolerance thresholds’ being pushed too far making a growing economy and a safe climate incompatible according to new modelling from nef (the new economics foundation).

bin Laden’s dead. Tora Bora, 2001.
If he’s alive, produce him. His appearance would be a tremendous morale boost to his followers, and would really fire them up. So why the ‘audio tapes,’ instead of a live appearance on 60 Minutes, or a BBC interview?
Call me a skeptic.

This is not a surprise from Bin Laden. Read some of his earliest pronouncements: he’s all about destroying our economy,… any way he can.
* Get us to spend millions bombing caves in Afganistan,
* Encourage the rest of the world to make us spend trillions on cap n trade (or cap n tax), plus the various payments to every developing nation on the planet,
* Offering bizarro threats so we try to lock down every possible gathering place or venue in the nation against terrorism, or
* Wasting trillions on health care “reform.”
Makes no difference as long as our economy is wrecked. Heck, OBL would probably love it if the US militia and white supremacy groups would take up arms in fear that the massed UN troops are waiting at the Canadian and Mexican borders, plus coming into our ports on the next arriving cruise ships… And if we do it to ourselves, it would be so much easier for him and probably more enjoyable … from his point of view.
The question of the hour should be if Pachauri and the IPCC come forth and accept OBL’s endorsement.

So, after we have had one paper that wants to lower the climate sensitivty number just a couple of days ago, here:
http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2010/01/100127134721.htm
We have another paper that wants to lower it here:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2010/jan/29/water-vapour-climate-change
Apparently the paper was published in Science. But the guardian doesn’t give us a link.
Some quotes from the Guardian:
“The research, led by one of the world’s top climate scientists, suggests that almost one-third of the global warming recorded during the 1990s was due to an increase in water vapour in the high atmosphere, not human emissions of greenhouse gases. A subsequent decline in water vapour after 2000 could explain a recent slowdown in global temperature rise, the scientists add.”
“Satellite measurements were used to show that water vapour levels in the stratosphere have dropped about 10% since 2000. When the scientists fed this change into a climate model, they found it could have reduced, by about 25% over the last decade, the amount of warming expected to be caused by carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases.”
“The scientists also looked at the earlier period, from 1980 to 2000, though cautioned this was based on observations of the atmosphere made by a single weather balloon. They found likely increases in water vapour in the stratosphere, enough to enhance the rate of global warming by about 30% above what would have been expected.”
Climate sensitivity numbers seem to be dropping as fast as IPCC credibility.

This isn’t new. As I recall, it was in the original 10 ??? point diatribe that was released around the 9/11 attack.

It’s not new. I don’t remember when it was, but I wrote a blog commentary about it back in 2003 or 2004.

The funiest quote about OBL comes from Donald Rumsfeld in April 2002;
“We have heard neither hide nor hair of him since, oh, about December in terms of anything hard….We are pretty sure he is either alive or dead.”
