The world of climate change alarmism just got a new ally. No I’m not kidding.
CAIRO (AP) – Al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden has called in a new audiotape for the world to boycott American goods and the U.S. dollar, blaming the United States and other industrialized countries for global warming.
In the tape, aired in part on Al-Jazeera television Friday, bin Laden warns of the dangers of climate change and says that the way to stop it is to bring “the wheels of the American economy” to a halt.
Umm, where have we heard this before?

At least James Hansen can produce a peer reviewed tape that backs up his views.

Maybe. I think it more likely that he’s angling for a Nobel Peace Prize. Given the recent awards, he has a pretty decent shot at it.
And you did notice that he released this staement on video, didnt you? The production values arent quite up to Algore’s standard, but there may yet be an Oscar in the wings …

Probably much less than usual. The planes would have burnt all their fuel continuing to their destinations anyway, and the grounding of flights would have cut a lot more. I have heard stories that the cleaner air over the US resulted in lower temperatures, so perhaps the IPCC see this as a benefit…?
If SPY Magazine had still been around, there would be an immediate Pachauri/Bin Laden “separated at birth” item.
I think Mr. Bin Laden is making an environmental plea against further use of drones and guided missiles. He is a very unselfish individual, full of love for the planet.
I think the Pentagon buys carbon offsets for those items, Mr. Bin Laden.
Sounds like a recruiting appeal to Greenies. It’s worked for the Islamists before, with leftist-fanatics orphaned by the ideological collapse of Communism.

Oh, dear. So let’s see: 2000-2009 claimed to be the hottest decade. Has highest levels of CO2 since humans appeared. But water vapour has decreased. All the climate models assume that water vapour must increase with higher CO2 and temperature (positive feedback). That is why this result is so ‘unexpected’. If you make assumptions about feedback, then the wrong sort of feedbacks sure are ‘unexpected’. So, which is right – the models or reality? (Rhetorical question!)
I am seeing more and more reports that the magnitude and sign of the feedbacks in the models are hopelessly wrong. Remeber, ALL attributions to anthropogenic factors come from modelling (when the models include positive feedback they can’t track past climate changes without adding the effects of increased CO2). I can see the wheels coming off this bandwagon fairly soon. AGW will soon be a busted flush. Bin Laden’s endorsement will do it no favours.

‘Bin Laden’ blames US for global warming
Wow, Bin Laden is pretty spunky for a dead guy. Orwell’s Emmanuel Goldstein is a dove compared to the perpetually spooky enemy Osama, the top of the list in “the database” of CIA jihadi assetts… or al qaeda in Arabic.
This just goes to show which side of the global warming debate more closely resembles the “intelligent design” side of evolution. So far we have the Pope, the Archbishop of Canterbury, Evangelical leaders, and numerous other Christian leaders declaring their solidarity with the warmist ideology. Now we have Osama bin Laden firmly in the warmist camp as well. It would appear that the forces of faith are not, in fact, aligned with the science when it comes to the issue of AGW.

Yes, he rather waited too long for this tactic, It would be embarrassing enough to have done this just before ClimateGate, this long after the wheels have started to come off just makes him look the fool.
OBL must be concerned about the amount of CO2 that each 2,000 lb paveway bomb releases on impact.

It seems a bit late to jump on the AGW bandwagon when the wheels are falling off.
Nothing about bringing the wheels of the Chinese economy to a halt.
I wonder who this is supposed to appeal to. Those in Third World countries encouraged to play up over the damage caused to them by climate change and now likely to lose their handout as the scam collapses?
I look forward to reading OBL’s posts on Real Climate. He’ll be in good company over amongst the other nutters there.

If you like fiction, you’re living the dream. As many have said, before, “how can this guy release tapes (not vids anymore since people recognize it isn’t him) and NOT be caught, when we pulled passports from a fiery pit where no plane survived?”… ummm, right?
BS – 9 11 has its scientific critics in the form of pilots, engineers, firefighters, ex-military, architects and it MUST be investigated using their facts, not the govs ‘adjusted’ data and their theory (it IS a theory).
OBL is nothing… he is just given the role of our ‘enemy’ as we don’t have them all over the world thanks to imperialism.
